A Trump return to the White House has UN officials worried about global cooperation.

NEW YORK — United Nations officials who have long worried about the return of former President Donald Trump to the U.S. presidency are experiencing a rare feeling now that Vice President Kamala Harris is in the race.

It’s not joy. It’s not excitement. It’s definitely not confidence.

It’s a word some struggle to say as if they fear jinxing it: “Hope.”

“It’s a cautious hope,” one U.N. staffer rushed to qualify. “We are all biting our nails until the very end and watching with quite a bit of stress.”

The U.S. election is a key topic of discussion among the many officials and diplomats in New York this week for the U.N. General Assembly’s annual meeting of world leaders. This is an internationally minded set well aware of the influence the U.S. president has on the rest of the world, and Harris is widely believed to be more friendly to the U.N. community than Trump, who is skeptical — at best — toward multilateral institutions.

Even if some of the diplomats hail from countries that are avowed U.S. adversaries, they largely believe in the need for international institutions such as the United Nations. And the U.S. is seen as a critical player on transnational challenges that require cross-border cooperation, such as climate change and pandemics.

In his earlier term, Trump moved to withdraw the U.S. from the U.N.’s World Health Organization during the Covid-19 pandemic. He also slashed funding for the U.N. agency that deals with Palestinian refugees and quit the U.N. cultural organization, UNESCO, over concerns that it was biased against Israel.

Joe Manchin just refused to endorse Kamala Harris today.

How come so many Democrats won't back her or are even leaving their party behind right now, but you guys get Dick Cheney, George W. Bush, Mitt Romney and 200 NeoCons?

The DNC is also following through with persecuting New York mayor Eric Adams for telling America the truth about how bad the Harris/Biden* administration has let the invasion of America get.

Quote:

“I always knew that if I stood my ground for New Yorkers that I would be a target — and a target I became,” Adams said in a statement to The Post.

“If I am charged, I am innocent, and I will fight this with every ounce of my strength and spirit.”

In a video statement released later, Adams said he wouldn’t step down and pledged to “fight these injustices with every ounce of my strength and spirit.”

“I will request an immediate trial so that New Yorkers can hear the truth. New Yorkers know my story. They know where I come from. I have been fighting injustice my entire life,” he continued.

“That fight has continued as your mayor. Despite our police, when the federal government did nothing as its broken immigration policies overloaded our shelter system with no relief, I put the people of New York before party and politics.”

Hey buddy. I know this sucks, but at least Hilary wasn't president. The Clintons would have straight up had you murdered already.

Fight the good fight, and tell Americans before the election who they need to vote against.

Eric Adams isn't the only Democrat mayor in the papers today...

‘A fuck you endorsement’: How Trump won over a key Muslim mayor in Michigan

How did the mayor of America’s only majority-Muslim city end up endorsing Donald Trump for president? It took weeks of outreach, a 20-minute meeting with the GOP nominee, a boost from Tiffany Trump’s father-in-law, and an ad-libbed comment from Kamala Harris.

On Aug. 7, Harris’ rally on a Detroit-area airfield was interrupted by Arab-American protesters, demanding an “arms embargo and a free Palestine.” Harris shut them down instantly: “If you want Donald Trump to win, then say that.” Hamtramck Mayor Amer Ghalib, a Democrat still serving his first term, couldn’t believe it.

“Let Kamala Harris finish her speech, so Netanyahu can finish his massacre and genocide!” he posted on his personal Facebook page. “Let those opportunists fall like the autumn leaves, one after another, to endorse her administration’s crimes.”

You guys are fuckin' toast. The Democrat party is a dumpster fire and there aren't any fire extinguishers around because Pete Buttigeg is still on maternity leave and all the fire extinguishers are still stuck on boats waiting to dock.

Last year, a bipartisan group of lawmakers had negotiated a bill aimed at restricting illegal immigration. It had been written at the behest of Republicans, who said they would fund new Ukrainian military aid only if Congress also tackled the “crisis” at America’s southern border. Then Trump came out against the immigration bill, having reportedly decided that the crisis at the border was good for his reelection prospects, and Republicans promptly fell in line. To Romney, it was clear that the priority for most of his colleagues was “to do whatever their nominee wants”—not to solve the problems they’d been elected to solve: “If Donald Trump says, ‘Hey, kill that immigration deal,’ [they’re] gonna kill the immigration deal.”

Romney told me he’d been invited to deliver a commencement speech, and he planned to illustrate the cynical nature of politics today by talking about his childhood fascination with professional wrestling. As a kid, he’d been enthralled by the theatrical rivalry between “Dick the Bruiser,” a muscle-bound former NFL player, and “Haystacks Calhoun,” a 600-pound farm boy from Texas. The two men riled up crowds by thumping their chests and talking trash about each other. “I was intrigued,” Romney told me, “until my brother, six years older, said it’s all fake. And it suddenly became less interesting.” Congress, he’d come to discover, was more or less the same. “Most of what’s going on in these buildings is just fake”—less policy making than performative animosity and posturing.

I thought it sounded a little bleak for a commencement address, but Romney wasn’t soliciting feedback. Before I could say anything, he was venting about the lack of seriousness in legislative debates over the federal debt and climate change, and the plague of partisan “messaging bills” that are written to score points instead of make law. Finally, when he’d tired himself out, he slumped back in his chair. “We’ve got some real challenges,” Romney said, “and we just don’t deal with them.”

Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Squandered His Father's Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success

Donald Trump’s Many Lucky Breaks

A new book by two New York Times investigative reporters comprehensively debunks the notion that Trump is a good businessman.

By John Cassidy | September 23, 2024

https://www.newyorker.com/news/the-financial-page/donald-trumps-many-l
ucky-breaks

Circumstances change; Donald Trump doesn’t. In early 1973, when he was twenty-six years old, he and his father, Fred Trump, who was a major developer of houses and apartment buildings in the outer boroughs of New York City, gave an interview to the real-estate section of the Times. The resulting article described Donald as the only one of Fred’s five children to show an interest in the family business, and said that he had become its president after finishing “first in his class” at Wharton business school. The piece also noted that the Trumps were in the process of buying a prime site to develop on the East Side, which Trump fils called “our entry into the Manhattan field.”

More than fifty years on, Trump isn’t letting an election campaign or attempted assassinations interfere with his efforts to hype up and promote his various ventures. The day after federal agents arrested a man who had spent nearly twelve hours hiding outside the former President’s West Palm Beach golf course with an assault rifle, Trump appeared on an X live stream to promote a new crypto outfit, World Liberty Financial. (Three years ago, he called Bitcoin “a scam.”) On Saturday, he plugged a new set of “Official Trump Coins!” on his social-media accounts.

It just so happened that the crypto launch coincided with the publication of a new book about Trump’s business career: “Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Squandered His Father’s Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success,” by Russ Buettner and Susanne Craig, two investigative reporters at the Times. During Trump’s 2016 Presidential campaign, and when he was in the White House, Buettner and Craig wrote a number of blockbuster stories revealing how, for decades, his businesses had recorded huge losses, and how he engaged in dubious schemes to reduce his taxes. In “Lucky Loser,” the authors trace Trump’s dealings all the way back to the 1973 Times story, which they describe as largely fictitious. Trump “had graduated without honors,” they write. “His brother Freddy had displayed an interest in the business and been pushed aside by their father. . . . The Trumps had not bought land on the East Side of Manhattan for an apartment building and would not do so that decade.”

It’s not news that Trump is an inveterate teller of tall tales. The more penetrating argument that Buettner and Craig make is that he’s a lousy businessman who only got as far as he did because of a series of lucky breaks that “could paper over a litany of failure and still fund a lavish life.” “There is no evidence that in fifty years of labor Donald Trump added to his lucky fortunes,” the authors conclude. “He would have been better off betting on the stock market than on himself.”

According to Axios, Steven Cheung, the director of communications for the Trump campaign, dismissed the new book as “lies” and “nonsense,” and suggested that it belonged in the bargain bin at the bookstore. Actually, it deserves a place in the shop window. Combining the groundbreaking reporting of its authors with details unearthed throughout the years by other journalists and financial analysts, “Lucky Loser” is comprehensive, persuasive, and packed with damning anecdotes.

It starts at the beginning, with Trump’s original charmed break: the family into which he was born. Buettner and Craig relate how Trump’s father, Fred, paid for his private education, created trust funds for him and his siblings, helped to finance some of his early real-estate ventures and his expensive Manhattan life style while he was on the make, and eventually bequeathed him $177.3 million. Pop’s connections were also a boon. It was one of Fred’s old friends, Mayor Abraham Beame, who helped to facilitate one of Trump’s first big plays: obtaining an option to develop the West Side rail yards from a bankruptcy court overseeing the assets of its previous owner, Penn Central. During the construction of Trump Tower, it was Fred that helped him acquire the air rights he needed from a neighboring Tiffany’s building. And the podiatrist who provided Trump with the “bone spurs” diagnosis that enabled him to avoid the Vietnam draft? Buettner and Craig cite a 2018 report in the Times that said he may well have been a doctor who leased office space in a Fred-owned building.

Trump’s second major stroke of good fortune came in the early nineties. A number of banks, for reasons known only to them, had extended him billions of dollars’ worth of credit to finance an acquisition spree that included the Plaza Hotel, the Eastern Air Lines Shuttle, and three hotels in Atlantic City: the Trump Plaza, the Trump Castle, and the Trump Taj Mahal. (He bought the latter one when it was only partially built.) But by the summer of 1990 his businesses were struggling to pay the interest on their debts. He missed some interest payments, which raised the prospect of the banks calling his loans and forcing him and his empire into bankruptcy.

Two factors complicated the situation. Trump had cross-collateralized some of the loans, using the same assets to back more than one of them. Also, the banks had issued him with some nine hundred million dollars in credit based solely on his personal guarantee. If the banks had called their loans, “assets would have to be unloaded at fire sale prices, and they would all be fighting for a place in line to collect,” Buettner and Craig write. Rather than pushing Trump under, the banks agreed to keep him afloat in the hope that his businesses would be worth more as going concerns. They suspended some of his debt payments, issued a new line of credit to keep the businesses operating, and gave Trump a personal allowance of four hundred and fifty thousand dollars a month.

As Trump’s financial crisis dragged on, he was eventually obliged to relinquish the Plaza Hotel, the airline shuttle, his personal yacht, and half of his ownership stakes in the Taj Mahal, Castle, and Plaza casinos, which had entered bankruptcy. But these settlements left him in effective control of the Atlantic City properties and some of his other buildings, and allowed him to avoid a personal bankruptcy. On Wall Street, he was widely regarded as a busted flush. Still, he talked a big game to anyone who would listen, and, in the early two-thousands, fortune shone on him again when Mark Burnett, a reality-television producer, cast him as a successful businessman, despite the copious evidence to the contrary, on “The Apprentice.”

This was Trump’s third, and arguably biggest, piece of luck. Between 2004 and 2015, he starred in fourteen seasons of the show, which turned him into a national celebrity, and generated hundreds of million of dollars for him in fees, profit shares, and licensing deals and endorsement fees that resulted from his enhanced public standing. Even this huge windfall wasn’t enough to cover the ongoing losses from his other businesses, including a string of upscale golf courses that he had acquired. In 2009, Buettner and Craig note, the Trump Organization appears to have recorded accumulated tax losses of nearly eight hundred million dollars, which Trump then used to claim a big refund from the I.R.S. for the taxes he had paid since “The Apprentice” had taken off. In accordance with its standard procedure, the tax agency issued the refund—$72.8 million, including interest—and opened an audit. “The IRS audit would remain open for years to come, posing a potential threat if the final decision went against him,” the authors write. “But for the foreseeable future, the cash was his.”

How the world’s climate financing hinges on the U.S. election

Trump has vowed to again withdraw from the Paris Agreement, as well as from the overarching UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

ction-trump-harris

Countries have a chance to use this week’s UN meetings in New York to resolve big differences over boosting the world’s annual goal for climate finance, but uncertainty over the U.S. election could jeopardize progress ahead of the next UN climate summit in November.

Negotiators told Reuters that countries were reluctant to stake out their positions before knowing who might win the November 5 U.S. presidential vote and be setting climate policy for the world’s largest economy—and biggest historical polluter—for the next four years.

But by waiting until November for that answer, countries could be risking the chance of reaching a new deal before the world’s current $100 billion financing pledge expires at the end of this year, the negotiators and observers warned.

“The elections are in the calculus” of global climate talks, said finance negotiator Michai Robertson of the Alliance of Small Island States.

Maryanne Trump Barry said of her brother, "All he wants to do is appeal to his base. He has no principles. None. His goddamned tweeting and lying... oh my god. I'm talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying. Holy shit. [...] It's the phoniness of it all. It's the phoniness and this cruelty. Donald is cruel." She added that he did not read books and had someone take the college entrance exam in his place. In the recordings, Barry also criticized her brother's family separation policy and the bankruptcies of his businesses, adding that "you can't trust him".

Would another Trump defeat end Trumpism?

A second Trump loss would change the GOP, but probably not in the ways conservative purists hope.

By Eric Levitz | Sep 26, 2024, 5:30 AM CDT

Most conservatives are as interested in voting for Kamala Harris as they are in eating a bowl of tofu marinated in motor oil.

After all, the Democratic nominee has vowed to legalize abortion nationwide, ban assault weapons, regulate prices, and increase federal spending. As Donald Trump — in his own wildly exaggerated fashion — would put it, she wants “this country to go communist immediately, if not sooner.”

And yet, some on the right are quietly rooting for Trump’s defeat. To this contingent, preventing Trump and JD Vance from remaking conservatism in their image takes precedence over keeping Harris out of the White House.

Their reasoning is simple: Trump has revised GOP orthodoxy, to the detriment of core conservative interest groups. His contempt for NATO and affinity for Vladimir Putin have incensed national security hawks. His enthusiasm for tariffs has dismayed economic libertarians. His gestures of moderation on abortion have dispirited the religious right. And his affection for mobs that threaten to kill Mike Pence has alienated Mike Pence.

All this might not amount to a case for Harris were it not for Trump’s running mate. With the notable exception of abortion rights, JD Vance is even more ideologically hostile to traditional conservatism than the GOP nominee is.

Donald Trump’s Sexual Assault Accusers Tell Their Stories in Chilling New Ads (Exclusive)

Ads launching on Wednesday, Sept. 25, feature two of the presidential nominee's accusers, including former PEOPLE reporter Natasha Stoynoff

By Ingrid Vasquez | September 25, 2024 08:00AM EDT

https://people.com/donald-trump-sexual-assault-accuser-ads-8717764

The first ad centers around former PEOPLE reporter Natasha Stoynoff, who claims she was assaulted by Trump during a December 2005 trip to Mar-a-Lago to interview him and his wife, Melania Trump, for the magazine — something he previously said had "no merit or veracity."

"At one point, Melania went upstairs to change her clothes for the next photo shoot, and Trump said to me, 'I want to show you this beautiful painting, this beautiful room.' He leads me to this room, pushes me against the wall, and starts kissing me forcefully," she says. "I tried to push him. He kept coming back at me."

"I was in shock and smothered, and he had his hands here against my shoulders. I felt sick inside. I felt horrified, and thank goodness the butler charges into the room," she continues. "Like many women, I blamed myself. So Trump turned to me and said, 'You know we're going have an affair, don't you?' and Melania was approaching. I was horrified."

The second ad features Jessica Leeds. While Trump denied the claims in the Times article, Leeds vividly recalled the alleged encounter in the new ad, saying, "The airplane took off, and all of a sudden Donald Trump started groping me. He was trying to kiss me and I'm trying to push him away, he was basically overpowering me."

"When he started putting his hand up my skirt I got out of the seat, grabbed my purse, and went back to my original seat and I certainly was shook up by the whole thing," she adds.

Trump has been accused of varying degrees of sexual misconduct by at least 26 women during his career, though he has vehemently denied wrongdoing.

Following a 2023 civil trial, a jury held him liable of sexually abusing one accuser — former Elle columnist E. Jean Carroll.

Your life will be disrupted if Trump loses, you know. I suggest you fight for him by joining a domestic terrorist group. That will get you out of the house and into the big world beyond your little neighborhood. You will meet new people. There will be adventure. Drama. Wild experiences beyond Indiana's mundanity, action sequences unavailable via the internet or motion pictures from Hollywood. Your future will be exciting! Trump's future? Not so much unless courtrooms are exciting to him.

I'll be fine either way. It's you and Ted that I'm worried about. Especially after watching you both go insane over the last 4 years while your pudding brained idiot has been running the country. I'm worried for people you know in real life and what you're going to do to them when Harris loses.

That's the 2nd swing state now that has purged the voter rolls before the election. We're going to make sure that there aren't any dead Democrats voting for Harris outside of California where it doesn't matter.

Tick Tock

No. It won't.

I fixed myself without Trump's help, and I didn't start drinking during the last 4 years of a shitshow that people like you inflicted on America.

I'll be fine either way. It's you and Ted that I'm worried about. Especially after watching you both go insane over the last 4 years while your pudding brained idiot has been running the country. I'm worried for people you know in real life and what you're going to do to them when Harris loses.

Go fuck yourself.

Speaking of the pudding brained idiot that you and Ted inflicted on Americans...

It's even funnier because there are two signs next to him on the podium that say "New York, NY"

Too funny, huh Ted?

So now you are the self-made man. Every Trumptard claims the same thing. Funny how sour tasting failure is the largest ingredient by weight or volume in the recipe for a self-made man.

Prosecutors File Sealed Brief Detailing Allegations Against Trump in Election Interference Case

Though the brief is not currently accessible to the public, prosecutors have said they intend to file a redacted version that could be made available later, raising the prospect that previously unseen allegations from the case could become public in the final weeks before the November election.

The Trump team has vigorously objected to the filing, calling it unnecessary and saying it could lead to the airing of unflattering details in the “sensitive” pre-election time period.

“The Court does not need 180 pages of ‘great assistance’ from the Special Counsel’s Office to develop the record necessary to address President Trump’s Presidential immunity defense," Trump's lawyers wrote, calling it “tantamount to a premature and improper Special Counsel report.”

Good luck with that.

Biden-Harris Admin Let A Staggering 650,000 Criminal Illegals Loose In The US: ICE

New data from US Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) reveals that over 650,000 migrants with criminal histories were let loose in the United States between 'mid-May 2023 through the end of July 2024.'

In a response to a March letter from Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX), deputy DHS Director Patrick J. Lechleitner writes:

"As of July 21, 2024, there were 662,566 noncitizens with criminal histories on ICE's national docket, which includes those detained by ICE and on the agency's non-detained docket. Of those, 435,729 are convicted criminals, and 226,847 have pending criminal charges."

Yep. Bc Biden* and Harris are patriots who only want the best for the United States.

I made the mistake of reading a few MSM articles about the election:

Polling numbers, voter rolls, the deepstate's anti- Trump dirty trick of not providing sufficient security and forcing Trump to cancel rallies, and the media's constant covering of Harris' (frequent) shortcomings.

For my peace of mind, I decided to go back to NOT reading those articles. It's too easy to get sucked into the 'horse race'/ 'team cheerleader" mentality. But that approach is used to distract an awful lot of people away from legitimate issues, like

Who is going to fix our economy?
Who is going to secure our border?
Who is going to break our addiction to debt?
Who is going to put America first?
Who is going to secure our energy, now and for the foreseeable future?
Who is going to put us on the path to sustainability?
Who is going to break the back of the deep state, and restore our Constitutional rights?
Who is going to save us from the prospect of nuclear holocaust?
Who is going to preserve the safety nets set up for the very young, the disabled, the elderly, and those expeiencing temporary misfortune?
Who is going to unite America by rewarding work in a mileu of an equal opportunity meritocracy, without favor to race, age, sex, religion, gender, or the many other wedge interests that have been used to divide us?

*****

All of these are real and IMHO existential problems that deserve, and NEED, legitimate answers. The more we focus on 'who's running ahead?' and "my team versus your team' the more these questions get buried. And that's what TPTB want.

After Letting 600K Criminals Into The US, Kamala Slithers Down To The Border And Does Trump Impression

Friday, Sep 27, 2024 - 08:00 PM

On Friday, 'Border Czar' Kamala Harris flew down to Arizona for a photo-op at the southern US border - through which untold millions of migrants from all over the world have entered the United States illegally during the Biden-Harris administration.

nWhile there, she gave a ridiculous speech in which she (get this) called for tougher border security - pledging to enact various forms of immigration reform if she's elected in November, including a 5-year ban on reentry for those who enter the country illegally.
