I hope the weather is at least pleasant.

I was so rushed this AM I had to cut the dog walk short, which was too bad bc even tho predicted to be hot today, the weather was quite pleasant early. But hubby had an appt and I remembered that I forgot to check the vehicle tires, since one sensor was reading low. So there I was, sweating in the hot noon sun, checking and pumping up all the tires on both vehicles like I promised. And one tire was indeed a tad low (24 psi).

It's been nice today and only in the 70F. Though I went out with a jacket on and had to take it off before coming home. I won't make that mistake tomorrow because I think it's suppose to be warmer tomorrow.

Somehow managed to survive the two massive thunderstorms without my power going out. I don't even know how that's possible given the history of power outages around here, but cool. I'll take it.

Ended up with maybe 1/4 gallon of water in my basement, which has already evaporated off the concrete floor. Not too shabby. Had my back gutter not been clogged up, I wouldn't have had any water inside, so I'm to blame for that problem this time around. Pump has still been going off today, but it's a pretty long time in between cycles so it must be almost caught up now.

But it's always something...

No water from the tap today... I didn't notice it myself until mid-afternoon, but my neighbor says it's been going on since this morning. He says that he's been dealing with this problem the entire 40 years he's lived here. I believe him. In the 14 that I've lived here, we've had at least 5 water line breaks that required shutting off the water so far. Though it's something that I've grown used to over the years, this is also something that I'd never experienced one single time anywhere I've lived before I moved here.

Good thing they decided to re-do the sidewalks with that Joe Biden* printing press money, but didn't think to fix the busted ass water pipes below them before putting the new stuff down. (This is the 3rd incident to happen since those new sidewalks were put down). Thanks for spending that money wisely, guys and gals. We should get DOGE to work on my city next.

Glad you survived the storms SIX. But that's rough on everything else.

My city's been replacing water pipes along a main street June and the signs said will be finished by early August. It is now almost the end of August and the city still isn't finished.

I don't ask anymore or believe signs the city puts up.

Our governments don't want to talk much about it, but a lot of the stuff that we've been using and taking for granted for generations now is so old in the tooth it's all likely to eventually collapse if we don't spend real money and time upgrading things. Everything from plumbing to bridges.

I don't know how they do it up in Canada, but we waste hundreds of Billons of dollars here keeping Democrat-voting union members employed with non-essential busy work ripping up our expressways and putting them back down every other year, but we never spend any money fixing things that actually need to be fixed until they become an emergency.

That's how things like Flynt Michigan cancer water happened, or half of California burning down happened. I guess over here by me we're just going to keep ripping up the ground and pipes and rebuilding them piece by tiny piece every time something bends so far something snaps off instead of taking care of the real problem.

I don't even want to imagine what the city just paid today to get that job done. The entire damn city public works sitting around and watching all day long while the tree cutters took down a few massive trees and ground the stumps out until after it was time to normally clock out for the day, and then all of them getting paid overtime to actually work on the pipes until after dark, collecting at least time and a half for all those extra hours. Probably got paid 2.5 times for those extra hours since they're all public jobs.

Meanwhile, check out cities in South Korea and China and how awesome they are compared to ours. They've got some space-age stuff going on and we're looking like something from another century... which is because that's exactly what it is.

I understand piecemeal repair up to a point, but when a system breaks repeatedly it's time for wholesale replacement.

A lot of cities in BC seem pretty good about repairing what needs repairing before it breaks. And if it breaks it can take a bit to repair but it does get done and the repair holds too.

That's quite a temperature jump!

Yesterday was 98F, and kind of weird weather, bc despite a pretty good covering of cirrus clouds, at ground level it was hot ad dry. Today cooled down all the way to 96. Tomorrow and the day after, 92 and over 10 days it'll get to 86. This descending air mass just doesn't want to shift.

We have AC but I've been unmotivated to cook, so today was ham, cheese, and avocado roll day.

Been doing a deep deep dive into estate and trust tax law with an eye towards keeping as much money as legally possible from the tax man. I found a couple of options and I'm gonna pencil whip the two possibilities, but I'm also going to consult a couple of investment advisors.

Our day was predicted to be partly cloudy and 95, but we apparently had an unexpected shower this AM bc when I got up the sidewalks were wet. It's still hot tho! 93 and humid.

But I took the oppty to do some avocado leaf raking and pulling up some grasses this AM. Dog enjoyed the cloudy weather and took me on a BRISK walk!

Sounds good Sig.

My area has just reached 90F which is 30C.

Got that bit of washing done. Couple of pillows. One had food spilled on it that I didn't really notice till last night and the other has been sitting on the bedroom floor where it fell picking up dust.

Also had to get some grocery shopping done.
