CONSCIENCE

A few hours ago the people of London were feeling proud since their city has been chosen to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games and now a tragedy has occured.

In case some of you haven't heard:

Let's pray this incident is the result of an accident and not of terrorist murderers. Even way, pray for the victims and their families.

With the beginning of the G8 summit it seems that an accident is out and terrorist are in. However it won't stop the summit, Blair will simply return to London for the day.

I'm sending my best wishes to London as well. Hope they get through this with the grace and poise that we've come to expect from the English.

They deserve no less from us.

Right. And I'm sure the Brits aren't going to do like the pussy-Spaniards and turn socialist.

The UK is actually a country with dignity.

Tony Blair is a socialist, leading a socialist government. The Conservatives are the right wing party in the UK. But we appreciate all messages of support.

So sorry to hear that cowards are once again at work trying to make a point by targeting the innocent.
I send my thoughts and support to the people of London.

Everybody is assuming it was Al Qaeda or some other "Islamic" terrorist group. However, to me it seems very coincidental that the attack happens less than 24 hours after London beats out Paris in getting the 2012 Summer Olympics. I wouldn't be surprised if the French had something to do with this.

FUCK THE FROGS

Question: What do you call 100,000 Frenchmen with their hands up?
Answer: The French Army.

The attack seems designed to coincide with the opening of the G8 summit and was most probably committed by those who spread messages of bigotted hatred.

@Skywalken:

Stereotyping is one of the founding fathers of terrorism.

Remove the swear word...
Remove the flag...
Remove yourself...

There's troll country for this kind of antics, let's stick to the specifics, okay.

Or perhaps we've forgotten...

I agree. But Oklahoma City taught us to look before we leap to conclusions. I'd say number one suspect are Osama's boys, but we shouldna rule out the Anarchists there for the G8 Summit, and maybe even take a quick glance at the good old IRA.

I'm surprised the terrorists, whoever they are, didn't hit the London Live 8 Concert instead. Seems that would have been a better target of opportunity for bombers already in the pipeline. Maybe the terrorists lack the ability to 'shift on the fly'.

Well in any case. Hats off to London in sympathy for your loss and pride in your resilience.

Now maybe this will get NATO off its collective ass. I mean, what good is a collective security organization if it fails to respond collectively to attacks on its member states?

My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of England and Europe.

"Al Qaeda's Jihad in Europe" has claimed responsibility for the atrocity that it was. So I think it's safe to say Islamic Extremism is once again at fault. Let's hope more attacks don't come in the insuing days in Europe and throughout the world.

I only hope that the REAL Muslims of the world step up and start putting a stop to the hijacking of their religion.

I think some of you might be surprised if you were here. EastEnders is being shown as normal on BBC1 as are most other programmes. Radio shows are doing the usual slots. The tube is going to reopen tomorrow.

Frankly, for the most part, it's business as usual. The BBC showed it best (as usual) by going through a thorough summary three hours after the attacks and then went to the weather. Even under fire, we still have time to learn whether it's going to rain or not.

I love my country and its capital.

The Live 8 concert wouldn't have been nearly as good a target. The idea of terrorism is to make people afraid of everything--even the most mundane things, like shopping in the market, going through a border checkpoint or riding public transit.

Live 8 only happened once and while it would have killed bunches of people and gotten lots of publicity, it wouldn't have illicited the kind of fear that this will.

Point of interest on the "shift on the fly" thing. I saw on CNN that a group calling itself the "Secret Organization Group Al Qaeda Organization in Europe" claimed responsibility in a website posting. Speaking as a former military intelligence analyst, if Al Qaeda was involved I've no doubt that they could have "shifted on the fly". Those buggers are scary good at this stuff.

OLDENGLANDDRY

It may not have been on the scale of 9/11 but a lot of very brave men and women of our emergency services (not to mention the general public) have seen some pretty horific things today. And the work of our doctors and nurses has only just begun.
Nevertheless, as Chuchill said 60 years ago: "London can take it"
Five years of Nazi bombings did'nt break us.
Fifty years of IRA attacks did'nt even make a dent.
It will take more than a few fanatics to make us Duck and Cover.
Tomorow we carry on.
Full English breakfast, cup of tea and then on with the working day.
The Terrorist has no weapon if you are not terrified.

That's what I love to hear.

All the news reports I've seen show London responding in a quick and efficient manner. Your emergency men and women certainly know their stuff. You've effectively taken away the terror by returning to the daily routine. Well done London.

As I said, grace and poise.

The British wouldn't be the British if they weren't utterly unflappable. Heck, they regularly put up with Prince Charles, that should inure anyone to sudden bursts of. . . unpredictability.

Exactly what I was going to say. And I don't think there is a country less prone to knee-jerk reactions and blame laying, than England.
It is too easy in today's day and age for any idiot with a computer to claim it as the actions of their organization. Plus, as OLDENGLANDDRY stated, the Al Qaeda would have to be pretty stupid or egotistical to think that they could do something to England the Nazi's couldn't.

I'd like to take a moments silence for the poor souls caught in the path of narrow-minded, fanatical, idiocy....
