Oh wait. Lincoln was killed for liberating an enslaved population. Apparently, some of the people in this forum have the same mindset as John Wilkes Booth -- "Blame and kill the liberators!"

im not sure your postition.. why shouldnt a head of state be responsible for the casualties and death of a war, if the war(as in this case) is a direct consequence of the lies and deceit of his own cabinet, and policies(which he is the frontman for). he doesnt have to be shot, but he can be tried for treason by the people, along with his establishment conspirators. its hard to find a war that is justified, that wasnt actually manipulated and fueled by mutual private interests for their own collective agenda and benefit; in my mind, theres nothing official or legal or sanctioned about conflict, its always just an elite power struggle and mind assualt on the masses

do you believe we're liberating Iraq? by that i mean.. that we're fighting a literal war to liberate these people from something?

"do you believe we're liberating Iraq?"

That reason has since been superceded by 'fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here'. They're no longer oppressed people waiting for freedom, they are bait.

Here here!

They say you'll never get the proles to stand up and fight for what's right. If they manage to take away my ability to smoke cigarettes without a fight then they've proven without a shadow of a doubt that it's true. That's a real test that effects the lives of over 25% of the people in this country and I see very little being done about it.

The antismoking campaign, the banning trans fats, the bird flu, the talk of mandatory vaccinations, the illegal wars, the lies to get the American people fired up and desire war, armed cops in schools, talk of camera's in the classroom.......

Welcome to 1984 brother. I'm not sure if Orwell was a prophet or if much of this stuff is being done now because he wrote the blueprints for it. What the mind can concieve, the mind can achieve........

im not sure if youve seen this article called "Smoking is healthier than fascism"
http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/january2007/300107smokingfascism.
htm

but the reality is(as im sure you know), the establishment doesnt care about our health, its all about control.. just as it always has. its just more hypocritical fearmongering to steal rights, like the "war on terror"

he was privy to the types of elite circles and societies who shared this goal openly- he may even have been an agent with the motive to 'predictive programme' the masses by introducing their end goal, in the form of a fiction.. so that as they manifest this agenda in the real world, people accept this 1984 society as a natural progression of events, and not as a deliberate move to condition peoples minds towards a technocratic authoritarian state. a quote from Orwell i came across the other day seems to bear this out

Quote:

"The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness; only power, pure power....Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship....
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever."

Yeah AM, I saw "Smoking is healthier than fascism". I actually bought one of the shirts and it's my desktop wallpaper here at work. Frem pointed it out to me the other day. Good stuff. They haven't started to say that they're going to ban smoking in private residences up here in WI yet, but they're passing another $1.25 tax hike shortly. Of course (THEY say) all of that money is going to paying for medical expences due to smoking and giving help to smokers quit. How very thoughtful of them

I love that Orwell quote. I'm not sure if that was word for word out of the book or not, but I do remember the "If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever." part from that book very clearly. Nice pull on that quote AM.

Have you ever seen the movie "Cube"? I think it's a very clever story about how power is used senselessly simply because it can be. Probably a little grandiosely Sci-Fi, but it's main theme is not so far from the truth.

YINYANG

You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

(Having finally gotten around to reading it...)

Bush's speech... was hollow. Many people could have made those words ring true; but, with Bush's track record, I just don't buy it.
