Quote: Blair to stand down on June 27 http://politics.guardian.co.uk/labourleadership/story/0,,2076434,00.html In British parliamentary tradition, the leader of the largest party in the House of Commons serves as prime minister. Treasury chief Gordon Brown, Blair's partner in reforming the Labour Party and a sometimes impatient rival in government, was expected to easily win election as the party's new leader and become the next prime minister. www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,271192,00.html Mr Blair said that he will leave his position as soon as a new Labour leader is elected - a process that is likely to take seven weeks and result in the appointment of Gordon Brown. John Prescott also formally announced his intention to stand down as deputy leader of the Labour Party today. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/05/10/nblairdec810.xml "You may or may not know that I was in a band at university called Ugly Rumours - which is a coincidence as it was my ugly rumours that got us into the war in Iraq in the first place! The war has killed approximately 650,000 civilians and more than 3000 British and US soldiers, without us finding any weapons of mass destruction." -Tony BLiar www.uglyrumours.com Tony BLiar singing WAR WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR

Does it not matter because the monarchy is still running the show? When I lived in England, it was so strange to see surprise unannounced elections for Prime Minister, with 30 days notice, with the date picked by the incumbant, when their polls were at a highpoint to ensure victory for their party. Democracy inaction. You might as well live in USSASPPNA.

The Labour Party are going to be leaderless (and deputy leaderless since John Prescott is going too) at the end of June when Tony Blair resigns. THEN the Party will have its own little mini-election to find out who its new leader will be. Gordon Brown is the favorite (and by the looks of it, seeing that no other party memeber is voicing their opinion to stand, going to win). If/when Brown wins HE becomes Prime Minister..until the next election which is either in 2010. Then we all have the whole "Campiagn Trail" and the elections themselves...and whoever wins becomes the new PM (Bown, Cameron, etc). Oh, and PN, the monarchy are most certainly not running the show. the Goverment are. And for all the good things Blair and his Goverment did and tried to do they'll always be remebered for two things: Scandals and the Iraq War. Hopefully his sucessor will learn from his mistakes.....
