Poor, sad little jerk, she lost, and she lost it for McCain. She came off as prepared, and she was even nice to Biden at the end, all of which earned her solid points, but she lost on content.
Biden talked too much, as usual, but at least he made sense.

Have fun with your sex-change operation now.

Thanks TT, it looked like that to me too, like maybe she didn't sleep so well the night before.

OH! And the thing that got me: "..we have to win these wars.." UMMMM, how many is SHE planning to have? Iraq + Iran + Korea????

Who Won VP Debate: A Review of Polls

by George Harris
Kansas City Star
Readers Advisory Panel 2008

Random and non-random polls for the vice presidential debate declare Biden the winner over Palin in the vice-presidential debate.

Non-random (unscientific) polls on AOL and MSNBC web sites show Biden winning 48 to 45 and 78.6 to 18.9 respectively.

Randomly selected subjects on three other polls also show Biden winning:

CNN/Opinion Research Biden 51 Palin 36
CBS Biden 46 Palin 21
Fox Biden 61 Palin 39

In the CBS poll, of the uncommitted voters, 18% now say they will vote Obama/Biden, 10% now say McCain/Palin.

Post-debate reaction seemed to agree that Governor Palin gave a good account of herself in being able to deliver prepared answers, though often not responsive to the question at hand.

Biden was able to draw on extensive experience from his long experience as a Senator.

I was surprised that Palin's charm did not work better than the poll results showed. But she likely was weighed down by Saturday Night Live parodies and interviews earlier in the week with CBS's Couric. By the time of the debate, people knew that she is not ready for the presidency and saw through her efforts to appear that she was with canned responses.

The issue from the Thursday night debate ultimately is not about Palin but about McCain's judgment in selecting someone with so little qualification for national office.

The McCain/Palin ticket will likely drop into attack gear for the remainder of the campaign in a last ditch effort to stop Obama and Biden. I think it's likely to become really ugly but hope that McCain chooses instead to recover some of his dignity as Palin did in a good effort Thursday night.

oh i kid Sarah Palin... no, really..

to be honest, i kinda like her style - not the hair bun - but her seemingly genuine personality. I'm pretty sure she was a great leader in the PTA and a perfectly adequate mayor of Wasilla. It seems she even did some good things for the state of Alaska - but, it is obvious to me, and many others that she is way out of her league in presidential politics.

After the election, if she and Senator McCain are defeated, I hope she can return to Alaska and continue the job she is suited for. I wish her luck.

I doubt we've seen the last of Caribou Barbie...

oh, i kid

Yeah, she was all pert and perky, I'll give you that. All two of them.

I found her patronizing.

Maybe a lot of people find a comfortable connection with someone who plays to their weaknesses. Yeah, we're all just people, I'm not smart or special just like you aren't either. But that's insulting and demeaning to me. It assumes I have no genuine concerns, or opinions, or ideas that need to be addressed. It assumes I don't know better from worse, more right from more wrong. That ALL I will respond to is some kind of redneck (I would have said white trailer-park trash) appeal.

And I found her endless repetition of talking points insulting.

Well, at least we now know who her target consituency is. B/c believe me, her performance was not accidental.

Out of town on a rail, folks...

Why McCain is Leaving Michigan--and What It Means for Nov. 4
http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/stumper/archive/ 2008/10/03/mccain-s-leaving-michigan-can-he-still-win-on-nov-4.aspx
(spaced)

McCain gives up on Michigan in a major retreat
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081002/ap_on_el_pr/mccain

Despite the faux-news hoorah from our resident RightWingNuts, I haven't shaded my perceptions of the extremely frosty reception the Republicans have been getting up here in Michigan, not a bit.

And out he goes, with his tail between his legs, fleeing the well so thoroughly poisoned by DeVos and Bishop that he really didn't stand much chance in the first place.

And the hell of it is that most of that isn't even his fault - it's that of Mike Bishop and repeated, deliberate economic and political sabotage that's hurt us and hurt us as he lashes out in a typical Republican temper tantrum when he doesn't get his way, and that he pulled from Engler, not shrub.

NOBODY here has forgotten the phony Gov't Shutdown/Budget Crisis matter initially sparked when Bishop and company submitted a FAKE budget that upon after the fact inspection was shown to be a total fiction cut from whole cloth in order to force tax increases they could blame on Granholm while accusing her of mismanagement and trying to stage a recall...

But the truth of things when it all came out - we were running a surplus at the time, cause Jenny hacked out so much of their tasty pork, and they were so angry about that they hid the real budget under their seats and trashed our state, damaged our whole fuckin economy with lies, all for petty political bullshit.

And when it came to light that we had that surplus, Jenny proposed some relief from excruciating fuel prices by lightening the load of the motor fuel tax upon us.. and guess who blocked it cause they wanted their fucking pork back ?

Then McCain in the midst of that mess comes up here and makes a speech right next to Fermi, addressing pro-UAW folk who did not want it here in the first place, and still held a grudge about the near meltdown, needless to say that didn't help his case very much...

And then, there was the stake through the heart....
"McCain's decision didn't go over well with at least some Michigan Republicans.

"John McCain is our candidate," said Mike Bishop, the top-ranking Republican in the state Legislature. "We want him in Michigan. We want him to hear our issues."

Considering just how badly Bishop is hated for the shit he pulled, and just how ANGRY much of michigan is at him, Cox, Terri Land and the rest of Englers lingering legacy of sabotage and petulance, that endorsement was prettymuch the capper for any chance McCain would have ever had here to begin with.

To be fair, that wasn't much to begin with, cause that well was poisoned before he ever reached it - this state and it's people are sick to death of the GOP legacy of destruction and would vote for Beazlebub hisself just to be finally rid of the fuckers.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I got a recall effort to get rolling, cause every motherfucker who just voted to rob us is gonna get a much deserved ration of pain on every political and financial front we can deliver it with.

And if you don't get what's blown my stack, wait about 15-20 minutes... you'll know.

Indeed. That particular patriot-card she played out so transparently, that folks, both left and right, could easily spot it for what it was.

For me, it was actually an earlier interview, in which hockey-mom was asked what news-papers she reads. And she couldn't mention a single one. All she managed to say was something lame, like she pretty much reads anything that comes along, whatever. Yeah, right.

And then I see peeps here post pamflettes, portraying Obama as an elitist. It's a pretty sad state of affairs, ain' it, when being virtually illiterate is cheered upon, and actually having enjoyed a decent education makes you an elitist.

That's what I've never understood about "mob rule" - you get these true dolts into power, who actively despise ANY form of intellectual pursuit or quest for greater knowledge, the mob goes right along with them, and the cycle brings the system crashing down upon itself, because now there's no one at the top who's capable of running things, or even figuring out HOW to run things.

We've just witnessed exactly that with McCain's campaign. The Rovian purge of intellectuals from the Republican Party is complete, and it left them ill-suited to fight a national campaign.

Now they have to rebuild, from the ground up. Let's hope there's no room in the "big tent" for the likes of Sarah Palin.
