Many just aren't willing to go where the work is. If you live in Michigan now I feel for you, but get off you ass and go somewhere where jobs are available. You can't just wait around for Obama to give you a government job. So many people in this country just assume that because it's bad were they are, it's bad everywere. Many States don't experience the extremes of the economic cycle as much as others. People need to realize their economic condition is partially a result of the situation they have personally chosen to put themselves in. If you want to change your economic condition, start by changing your geographic location.

It's not as easy as folk who've never been there make it sound - take it from someone who's been there, done that.

And yes, I surmounted those obstacles using outright criminal means, cause that was all that was available at the time and place, if there had been another viable option, I woulda took it.

On the plus side, MI might be in rough shape economically, but they DO have some options in that respect, and a couple programs related to that which hook up the poor and desperate with steady and reliable work which actually WILL pay the bills if they're willing to try.

I might not care for government involvement, or the fact that my taxes help pay for it, but I can choke down my ire on that with the fact that it keeps folk in the position I was from turning to crime by necessity, and saves us some bucks on enforcement and prisons at the other end.

But in all honesty, it's way rougher to pick up work from a park bench in the inner city than most folk realise or admit, that much is the stone cold truth.

I don't think anybody needs to be an economic expert to KNOW that money always evaporates up.

It is just plain true that if working people at the bottom of the spectrum are making a living and comfortable wage, that will improve our lives all the way up to, but excluding the top 1 percent of our population.

Why? Because then people can actually buy shit...because people can actually stimulate the economy because htey are part of the economy, because then we don't have to rely on the richest 1 percent of us to create jobs for us, because entrepreneurship isn't so ridiculous a notion when people have some money to take a chance without risking everything.

If You guys want to rely upon the richest 1 percent of americans to invest in new industries, then you can expect most of that money to stay in the stratosphere. Most of us are never going to see it. They aren't even creating jobs here...they aren't spending their money to train people in valuable skills,
they are outsourcing elsewhere, for that. Hell, it's their excuse often enough, that they have to outsource because they can't find skilled workers.

you know the other reason its good to make sure that your system is working for the people at the bottom? Because when it isn't, its a tax on the rest of us anyway, we're just paying for it in a different place. Who do you think pays for prisons? For fences, for more cops on the street, for the markup for products to include fraud and theft, etc. whose property values suffer because they are too near rough neighborhoods?
