Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

I know it's Sunday and quiet on Sundays, but it's sure frustrating, and it's not just today. I look for something interesting to read, and there's so little. By far it's just PN spouting his...is there a word for what he spouts?...thread after thread, and even going back a couple of days I can find little of interest. Surely SOMEONE else has something to say or ask or share that is of actual value, isn't there?

This forum seems a little tired most of the time. Granted I just joined but it appears I found this about 4 years too late. I also feel a bit impatient about things but that is probably justified since I may not be here to check this out tomorrow. It seems kind of silly that I'm worried that I won't be able to read a forum post if I kick the bucket but everyone has coping mechanisms and this one is mine.

How's that for interesting for ya?

NEWOLDBROWNCOAT

Things often slow down around here on weekends, I've noticed that too. But then I got nothin' else to do on weekends-- I need to get a life.
Funny, it seems like lotsa folks around here log in from work, and they don't work Weekends. I wish I had their bosses, I don't dare use my job's internet connection for anything not clearly work-related. They even recently put up Big Brother security cameras watching the computer terminals from the ceiling, but not the doors.
As far as the board slowing down some too recently, that's true also.
Traffic used to slump around here when colleges were out of session, but I don't think that's happening yet.
The fan-ficcers seem to have slowed down lately, and the artists-- Hell, I've been in a slump for over a year...
We used to get a surge of newbies whenever one of the BDH's did some new project-- Chuck fans, Castle fans, Sarah Conner fans, even some from Stargate and Dollhouse. 'Spect we'll get some from V, if it ever takes off. A few always become Browncoats and stick around.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

As for me, I've just been slammed at work. Haven't hardly had time to even READ enough to catch up, much less post much of anything. Then came the weekend, and I was slammed at home, getting ready for Halloween and such. And today was just pretty much a lazy day for catching up on TV and taking it easy.

And back to the grind tomorrow, to start it all over again.

Don't get me wrong - I'm DAMNED GLAD to have the work, because there are still a lot of folks who don't.

Mike

Let the wild rumpus start!

DREAMTROVE

I have a new netbook! Nifty huh? it's like 9 watts, or 8, but it's burning closer to 30 on full video.well, at least 15-20. It got me through Buffy halloween and an ep of john stewart. It's a lenovo ideapad running koala on a 32gb ssd. (sata2, samsung slc) The thing ships with less than the design specs, so I'm going to have to up the battery and memory. Real quiet. After a while it starts running hot, might need to throttle the bus speeds. I throttled the processor down to 800mhz. On that lil netbook screen you really need the F11.

The drive is running 200mb/s, it's a world of difference, my bottleneck now is the internet itself. Or my dsl. 2gb, which it sometimes delivers but not always. anyway, it's spiffy. Gotta watch the temp. tho, I think I'll look around for some sort of temp/fan control like the i8kgui or gkrellm-i8k, only for the atom processor.
