I know, me too. I try to remember the universe and all creatures in it are intrinsically in a state of complete wisdom, love, and compassion; acting in natural response and mutual interdependence.

What obstructs the effortless manifestation of this state is ignorance, which projects into fear and needless craving. So when someone is so obviously obstructed, there's nothing we can do.

The conditions of the cold war have turned all modern societies–communists included–into vicious distorters of man’s true potential. They create populations of “preta” hungry ghosts with giant appetites and throats no bigger than needles.
Our lesson for the day. We must meditate on it... perhaps in sadness for those creatures caught in its snare. Does that include Bunning, or is he just out-and-out nuts, I wonder?

Nuts are generally products of emotional misfortune. So, yeah, I'd think.

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

"I guess it wasn't enough for you and Rue that I challenged Rap on his Bunning position ..."

I agree with your position, but you seemed to think that the suffering of the unemployed was merely a political pretext and not real in any way. And that to portray it as real suffering was somehow unfair or untrue.

Ooops, Rue, I missed that one, thanx. I didn't recognize the snark.

Yes, I kinda felt the same aout miimizing the suffering, and I wasn't asking you to give specifics, was just standing up for equality I guess. Agreement that both sides have produced disgusting ads would have been sufficient, it wasn't a put-down in any way.

He makes a good point. If they can't find $10 Billion Dollars to pay for something everyone wants, then they'll never pay for anything.

Ironically, never paying for anything is the Obama plan.

Yeah, it is really good to finally see Rappy and "Hero" come clean and admit that the wars were horrible ideas and completely unjustified, unnecessary, and unfunded, and that we never should have undertaken either of them. That shows real growth.

Where'd the money come from for the F-22 program, anyway? How about Medicare Part D? How was that paid for?

Or perhaps the implementation of a war tax in times of foreign conflict...

instead of hiding the cost in the regular budget which is intended to cover things like what this bill is holding up, a separate war tax to directly fund the war not only would be more honest, but it would interfere less with regular budget commitments.

War bonds could also be sold to those who really support the war to pick up supplemental costs, keeners like AU and Hero could float bank loans to show their support then, while people in opposition can say not.

Of course the regular budget would be hit with additional drains for things like veteran support, equipment maintenance, etc... but the war tax to cover operating costs, military aid, etc would take that cash directly, and actually cut the deficit by not borrowing money to pay for it... mind you taxes would then increase but it could make for shorter wars, or perhaps no war at all.

Please tell me you really did not think that I was making fun of un-employed people and their families. If so, then I suppose I need to bolster-up on my writing skills. Nothing could be further from the truth...in fact, if I didn't care about these people I would not have even bothered to write to the Bunning defender about it. And yes, there is a political element to it as well, but I only used that to help drive home the point to a person who would not address the human side to this action, by trying at least for him to understand the potential political fallout from Bunning's stance.

No worries, Jongs - *I* got what you were driving at, and completely agree. It's pathetic and sad (the unemployed being made to suffer more), and yes, it damn well WILL be used in campaign commercials to try to gain a political advantage.

But that shouldn't surprise anyone. We've seen Republicans try to cash in on the deaths of thousands of 9/11 victims, on the attempted bombing of airliners, and anything else they think they can play to their advantage.

Feel free to call me an idiot. I focused on one little thing and didn't get the big picture.

My apologies. I'll try to not do that in the future.

Rue, I'd never call you a bad name, and your post back to me only shows me that you're a person worthy of my respect.

Niki....ditto. Thanks!
