DREAMTROVE

Oh, and my apologies to everyone for random wrong words. iPad has a quirky sense of humor, and I cant imagine that I catch them all. Its just as likely to correct "wish" to "fishmonger" as it is the other way round, so you can see where it makes for curious sentences sometimes. Like just now, despite round being a perfectly good word, even if I was avoiding using around, iPad didn't know that, it just up and changed it to "ruined" for no particular reason. It was very noticeable in its dislike of the word Keynesian, which, even though it has in its dictionary, kept changing to things like "KeynepsIpinip" and other nonsensical variations which were not in it's dictionary. IDK, it's a glitch. Still a great machine. I think I'll ray to disable the autocorrect.

Anyway, here's the Keynes Hayek rap

Where did I "insert" myself??? I posted...you know, like we all do? And for gawd's sake, how in hell am I trying to "silence" you??? Wow...you are really on a judgmental streak and really have it in for me; back off, mister.

As to the rest, I said quite clearly that I'm not getting into that again, so I won't respond further, except to clarify that I referred to it as voodoo economics by way of saying it DIDN'T and doesn't work...how you get that I'm saying it does is beyond me. Reaganomics, trickle-down, voodoo economics, call it what you will, to most of us it means relatively the same thing: "Tax cuts for the rich are good for the economy and create jobs". Not.

If you get the urge to attack me further, do us both a kindness and hold off for a day or two, maybe you'll get off whatever nasty judgmental streak you're on with regard to me. Or not. You've offended me pretty thoroughly in this thread, first claiming I'm "insensitive" about disability, then telling me essentially to "shut up" while claiming I'm trying to silence YOU...I don't know what your problem is, but I'd appreciate it if you'd knock it off.

I hope your sister is doing as well as can be expected; if that's weighing on you or something, please don't take it out on me. I have all the sympathy in the world for your and her situation, but it's no excuse for rudeness.

A DreamTrove a chara,

Okay, I'm definitely familiar at historical eugenics incidents, they were indeed horrible things and I wasn't trying to demean that in any way. The examples you sight about Ireland and the Nazis are totally true and horrific. When I was pointing out your common use of the topic I meant now adays, because that's what I thought you were talking about, conspiratorial eugenics plans that the government is currently supporting, and there is only one issue that fits that in my opinion, and issue you hinted at but that I won't say outright here. But if that is what you're referring to I agree it is bad, though I don't know that I'd go right to the idea that its a conspiracy. So in summary I know that there have been eugenics problems historically and may be in other parts of the world, but, aside from that one unnamed issue, I don't really see it here in America right now.

Now to PN and the Nazis, I know what you mean about him being really obnoxious about the Jews/the Holacost. I don't respond to any of his posts like that, its disgusting the way he behaves on that topic. I try to only respond to him when he says something that either has merrit (which as you say he does sometimes) or if no one has responded to him.

Disability: Its not always an all or nothing thing. Some people work (volunteer jobs or part time paid positions) and still get some disability money. I believe that volunteer work is just as important as paid work in terms of helping society and the world. A person needs to make the right choice for them and theirs, based on their abilities and what work they want to/are able to persue.

I personally will not be reproducing, I know it is the best choice, both for myself and for society at large if I don't make babies. I do love little ones though and very much enjoy my little borther, nephews, friends' kids, and all the children I've watched grow up and whom I've been a part of that process for, I'm very privelidged in that way.

After I've seen people who really, REALLY need disability get denied, I don't have a lot of faith in that process. I think sometimes that whether someone gets on disability or not is directly tied to how much their state is cooking the books and looting the fund.

I think everyone on disability needs to be on disability, and there's a whole lot more who need it, but who aren't. It's another system that seems to need some major reforms, and is only functional when it can actually be funded, which because of federal and state budget crisis, it's only functional in part. It could be people really are going to have to start relying on community, family, and charity organizations, simply out of necessity because the state programs seem to be so inconsistent.

Got it. Cus, you know. All corporations are EVIL.
Forget that they provide jobs and benefits.
Forget that they are mostly just people trying to grow their business.
So what does that make Apple?
I mean, come on.. you want to charge the wind-mill, right?
So what about good old Apple? Or Toyota (maker of Pruisi?)

When I have more time, I will get back to you. As a start, let me just say that CORPORATIONS DON'T "MAKE" ANYTHING EXCEPT PROFIT.

Oh, and PS: I spit on Apple, and Microsoft, and Toyota.

I really, really needed it. And I got denied. Over and over again.

Yes, lots of people are helped. But a lot of people are not. The process, like everything the govt does, is more for show than for real solutions.

Hell, I watched people die while Disability stalled them off waiting for it to happen, repeated, endless denials and delays because they *were* terminal and could be waited out.

I won't give details, but the policies that allowed that did get changed, when I had to fight them from what shoulda been a deathbed, it was that more than anything else which enraged me so terribly that it escaped my notice that I was dying, thankfully that only became clear after they got asspounded in court by a federal judge who threatened to take off his robe and have it out with the disability rep in the parking lot - mind you, they carried me into that hearing on a stretcher, delerious with severe internal infections, a triple digit fever, badly malnourished and already having intermittent respiratory failure, on deaths very doorstep with the reaper hanging out nearby checking his watch, more or less...

And all the while the disability rep is protesting that I am "not disabled" and fully capable of walking security rounds - oh and did I mention suffering a recent amputation which was at the time swollen, bleeding on the floor and infected besides ?

Don't EEEEEVen get me started on them fuckers, I got ten goddamn years of hate, and six file boxes of hard evidence to back up every single reason for it.

See, when you fill out your first W2/W4, you're entering a contract with the FedGov, you pay all that goddamn money, every check, into Soc Sec/Disability - with the expectation that once certain conditions are met, they will fulfil their end of the deal...

But like every other form of "insurance", the first fucking thing they do is try to squeazel out of it, and being the Gov can go to some pretty insane lengths to do it, often requiring some insane measures on your own part, had I not repeatedly used violence, threats and other illegal means to obtain food, medicine and care, I would have been weeks in my grave by the time I got that goddamn hearing, which I ONLY got at all by bending a fuckin congressman, mind you.

And even if they do fulfill it, they keep changing the deal - ask any senior who needs prescription meds, eyeglasses or dentures, and has to pay out of pocket cause the deal got changed AFTER they paid into it - that's like makin the payments on a Porsche and getting a Yugo!

Above all, above. all. things. - YOU DO NOT BREAK CONTRACT WITH ME, I don't care who the hell you are... my rage and bitterness about that was all that was keepin me alive, at the time.

And for the love of mercy, don't whine to me about the cost - for one, most of it is what people paid into it to begin with, and paid out only after it's been chewed to the very fuckin nubbin of a bone by inflation and admin costs, so if you wanna bitch, then to have any right you should FIRST advocate they give every damn penny of it back, THEN you can talk about dismantlement, cause if they didn't take it in the first damn place, many folk wouldn't be so goddamn poor as to need the help to begin with!

Secondly, I refuse, REFUSE, to countenance one single word of any argument what-so-ever about "entitlements" or helping folk (whether they need it to not, so keep your goddamn "welfare cadillac" bullshit stories to yourself) with food, medical care, or the ability to live - when we are pissing away fifty TIMES that much on stupid ass wars, imperialism, and corporate welfare for the military-industrial collective, which if we cut even a THIRD of, we could fund all those social assistance programs in perpetuity, damn near forever.

I look at that same as I do some moron whining about the faucet dripping while a tornado is smashing his house to bits, cause it's about as freakin stupid - all because no one has the balls to stand against reverence of the military cult and insane nationalism.

I love it: the non-apology apology. Used most often by politicians who aren't REALLY apologizing. "IF something I said offends you...". So in other words, it's okay for you to diss me, judge me, tell me what to do and assume things which aren't true about me, but when I call you on it, you side step that "IF" it offended me... Well done, DT.

Frem, you about summed it up:

Unfortunately, far too many are quite happy to trash those on disability; that will never change. We're an easy target.

I'm glad others spoke up about people who actually need disability; I take the judgment previously expressed rather personally and as an offensive judgment of disabilities.

As someone who gets limited disability and also works part time I know what you mean Niki, we're an easy target. I agree with Frem that disability payments to those who need assistance isn't as big a problem as some make it out to be, they whine that it is where all America's money is going, not true and not fair. I work five days a week, some of the work I do is paid and some isn't, but it is all work and all in a field that I care a lot about and which can use the help.

Frem, I'm sorry you had such a horrid experience, I wish that it never happened like that.

Well, credit where it's due, it was Ben Cardin who forced them to set a hearing date after near two years of stalling.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Cardin
I really dunno a lot about the guy, but like Dingell he's an old school Democrat "grunt", rather than the spit-n-polish Obama bullshitters, not that any politician is trustworthy, mind you...

But I called him out on his oath and his honor, personally, in plain english rather than weasel words and political doublespeak - and he *did* rise to the challenge, which means he has cred with me.

As for the person responsible for the policy change in which Disability was no longer allowed to play the automatic denial and stall on terminal patients (legally changed the assumption to that they ARE "disabled" rather than starting from the assumption that they're not - common sense, you ask me!) that one may surprise you.

Hillary Clinton.

I don't like her, still don't, never will, she's untrustworthy and ambitious - but when it comes to the sick, children, and those cast upon the low rungs of society by unfortunate circumstance, one sees a side of her the public often has no knowledge of, because underneath all that machiavellian political bullshit, she does actually care about those people - in a lordly, distant kinda way to be sure, but that she does at all shows a smidge of humanity most politicians lack entire.

Stuff like this - which the media and shills and other politicos couldn't give a fuck about it save as talking points or partisan chicanery.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adoption_and_Safe_Families_Act
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foster_Care_Independence_Act

Doesn't mean I like her, doesn't mean I trust her, but in the few rare cases where an advocate can get the lady on-side for something which helps those worst off in our society, she's one hell of an asset to have.
