So Biden is America?

That means you voted against America in 2008!

Even his biggest supporters are falling asleep. If he can't keep his VP awake...

It's not a big fucking deal, eh Joe ?

Not so much, after all.

Twice you've refused to even acknowledge that Bite- me Biden was nodding off during Obama's speech. And oh, btw, there are others in the video who are 'meditating' during Obama's speech as well.

Nothing from the Left except " yeah, but ___ does it too ! "

So ? What's your point ? You still haven't responded to the issue at hand. Don't have an opinion ? Then why bother posting at all ?

There's an issue at hand? I must have missed it...people in the audience nodded off when Obama gave a speech. That's an issue? Shall we count up all the people who nod off during a Presidential speech? On both sides? Do we care? And how important is Biden exactly?

Or...omigosh...is this just another partisan ranting of absolutely no importance whatsoever?

By the way, Mike did NOT refuse "to even acknowledge that Bite- me Biden was nodding off during Obama's speech". Why should he "acknowledge" it? Does each poster acknowledge what the poster before them wrote before making their own point? NOBODY is refuting that Biden nodded off...there, does that make you happy, you idjit?

What's his point? It's obvious: People nod off during Presidential speeches...dunno why you don't get that. Is it important that the Vice President fell asleep? Ooops...

Or just "anyone"?

Or does it have to be a legislator falling asleep during a speech?

Get the point? Any long speech will put someone to sleep, whether the speech is by the Prez or anyone else. Grip: Get One.

No, you didn't address it either. Stating the obvious isn't commenting on it. Apparently you and Kwickie are too cowardly to comment on the significance of the VP nodding off at a brief but pivotal campaign speech ( dressed up as a policy speech ) by the President.

Shows all manner of respect and awe toward the 1st Community activist, huh ?

Meh - not so much.

And Cheney? Looks like he slouched, and then straightened himself up. Hardly on par w/ what Bite-Me did. Or those behind him... as he wasn't the only one nodding off to Obama.

Why should I "address" it??? What importance is there to "address"??

And talk about nitpicking...was Cheney asleep or just nodding off? Was Biden SOUND asleep or not? ...ach, I promised myself I wouldn't try to talk sense to you, it's such an obvious waste!

Headline:

BIDEN FELL ASLEEP DURING OBAMA SPEECH!!! Run it on the frong page! Make a YouTube video! Let's discuss it on talk shows! On the Evening News--it's a big story, let's put it on the evening news!

I hate to tell you, but the only person it's important to is YOU. Nobody else gives a shit. People fall asleep at speeches; Bush, Obama, I'm sure we could find instances during Reagan, Bush I, Clinton (certainly Jimmy Carter!!!).

Grip: Get one!

Oh, by the way, Biden ISN'T "America". You wanna "address" that lie?

Now adays presidents don't have to be grand orrators anymore, they can just read the telepromptor and have someone write them a speech. I think that back in the day, I could be wrong but, the presidents had to deliver speeches with a certain modicom of skill and speaking talents, like the orrators of old, plus I think they probably wrote them more often too, though they may have had help. But I think these skills have sort of been pushed aside now adays, a shame it is.

In college I started wondering if I had a problem, I would fall asleep all the time during class, it got worse as I got older, and I started falling asleep other places too, I'd feel the sleep trance come over me and there was nothing I could do to stop it, even though it was embarrassing. Fortunately when I got out of college and started having enough time to sleep enough for my body the problem went away. I very rarely fall asleep during anything now, maybe once every couple of months if its morning and I'm listening to someone talk, but its more mannageable when it does happen and it very rarely does now. I was glad it fixed itself because I didn't want another problem.

There you go. Me, too, by the way...and to this day I fall asleep in doctors' offices. Which is actually a good thing, given how long one waits to see a doctor, it's a good way to make up a few zzz's.

Maybe it's a GOOD sign, meaning that Biden is staying up all hours to help deal with the debt, eh? Or that Biden, like McCain, is an old man?

Silly thread...on to more interesting things.

Oh, by the way Riona, Presidents' speeches have almost ALWAYS been boring...they're just politispeak, everyone knows it (except the very young and the very naive)...they're no different than they used to be. Trust me, I've seen enough of them, now I don't even watch.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

I am terribly disappointed in Biden for falling asleep during that speech. I recently made a list of current events. The War in Afghanistan, the Crushing Debt, the Budget Crisis, the Erosion of Civil Liberties, the civil wars raging across the Mideast, and the dangerous dance of the U.S. intervening in Libya.

After making the list, I studied it, and I found that Biden's nap was definitely the issue most worth addressing. I suggest that congress make a non-binding resolution to chastise Biden for this wretched insult to the Commander in Chief.

Also, I find it disrespectful of people to comment on this thread if they don't agree with it. It is especially awful of them to comment if they consider this thread a non-issue, or even mockworthy. Not only are you using your free speech inappropriately to make light of a serious problem, but you are all enemies of America. That is, the TRUE America, not Obama's America.

As an aside, I hate Obama's America, and if Obama gave a speech in front of me, I would insult him by taking a nap. And I'd dream about a world without Obama.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I must return to my regularly scheduled sanity.

Good day,

Sheesh. I figured since I put it in a trademarked title, you'd get the gag for what it was. Notice I also pluralized the "interwebz" with a "z".

Sorry you couldn't get the subtlety, but thanks for playing anyway, loser.

You are certainly showing hypocrisy. But we're used to it, because you display it on nearly every "issue" - even such non-issues as whether or not someone was dozing off during a political speech.

So, Rappy, what happens if we don't abide by your rules?

Its an economics speech, I almost fell asleep posting this comment about it.

Obama did not put them to sleep with his idiocy, its just a boring topic. And his plan is not idiotic, its the other side.

On one side you have the Ryan plan that wants to cut spending, on the other is the Obama plan that wants to raise taxes. The Ryan plan reflects the will of the American people expressed in last year's election, the Obama plan reflects to will of the special interests and unions reflected in next year's fundraising.

Why I’m bothering I don’t know, but screw you: as we all know, anyone’s quite free to respond to anything, whether they agree or disagree. Ahhh, reading down I see others caught that too. What they said.

Oh, and next time you make one of your cracks about someone having nothing to say or nitpicking or whatever other nasty thing you can think of because they called you on a grammar or spelling error, let’s all remember
Quote:

teh ?

What's a 'teh' ?

Oh, Anthony, I LOVE it when you get snide, you do it so beautifully! But that I had your imagination and way with words, and your self-control...sigh...

Raptor: What he said!

Hey Mike, that’s a good one:
Quote:

{teh} is often used ironically, and can be used to mock someone's lack of "techie" knowledge or skills, as an insult
Excellent. Now, WAS it a typo and you found that afterwards, or did you intend it that way? Given “teh” is my MOST common typo, I can’t help wondering.

And the next question is: Did Raptor revert to Kaneman to avoid addressing any of that and snark instead? Not an important question, just a smilie.
Quote:

On one side you have the Ryan plan that wants to cut spending, on the other is the Obama plan that wants to raise taxes.
Terribly simplistic. Obama’s plan cuts spending, too, and you forgot: The Ryan Plan also wants to CUT taxes (for the rich, of course).
Quote:

The Ryan plan reflects the will of the American people expressed in last year's election, the Obama plan reflects to will of the American people once they find out what the Ryan Plan actually is and what it would do to them.
Thank goodness, Ryan's plan hasn't a hope in hell of passing.

...aaaand Raptor re-emerges, just to make a stupid snark, in the hopes everyone’s forgotten that he didn’t address all the rest. Predictable.

Look back at it. Rules of teh Interwebz™. I thought the capitalization, the trademark, and the "web-speak" of it was pretty clear. Perhaps I overestimated this room's savviness...

I *do* make typos. I suppose I could be like Rappy, and keep making the exact same typo over and over and over again for years, without ever learning how to fix it, no matter how many times I'm told (pluralizing words that end in "-ist", for example, or using "suppose to" instead of "supposed to"), and THEN claim that it was a typo. But no, this instance was purely intentional.

Ryan's "plan" is an utter and absolute trainwreck. It depends on an unemployment number of 2.5%, which have never been achieved in this country. The GOP faithful like Rappy here will point to Bush's alleged 4% unemployment rate, but he never hit that number with any of his policies, and the closest it ever got to 4% in the last 40 years was when CLINTON was in office. Prior to that, you had to go back to LBJ to find unemployment rates at 4% or less.

Further, even IF Ryan's "plan" were to succeed as wildly as he thinks it can, it still ADDS more than $5 trillion to the debt - spending far outstrips revenue, and as we all know, if you get a GOP House and Senate, spending will far outstrip even those meager revenues Ryan's plan allows. And, of course, he gives trillions in giveaways to the very rich, because everyone "knows" that that's how you create jobs. After all, look how well it's worked for the last decade, and look at all the jobs we created with the Bush tax cuts and their extension by Obama.

Tax cuts for the rich and for corporations are a great way to create jobs. Just don't kid yourself that they create jobs HERE. That's been proven to be completely false.

But I'm sure Ryan will just claim that his "plan" was never intended to be a factual statment.

Right?
