But it's not an Islamic paper that did it. It's a Hasidic one

at Der Tzitung, a Hasidic newspaper based in Brooklyn, New York. The ultra-Orthodox Jewish publication ran a doctored copy of the iconic “Situation Room Photo” last Friday – you know, the one taken of President Barack Obama and his national security team during the raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound. Scrubbed from the picture: the two women in the room.

ALL faiths outweigh facts. If you could prove something - or at least have consistent evidence for something- you wouldn't need "faith". All you would need to do is point and say "See? There it is". Faith only comes into play when you want to keep something in your mental model that has no evidence.

The question I have to ask is why, and my only answer is that they decided that a photograph of unrelated men and women together in a room was pornographic. Therefore, they would not run it without doctoring.

I can't say I fully understand what point you're getting at; are you saying that they doctored the photograph to enforce a message of female inferiority? Objectifying women and forcing responsibility for sexuality including rape on them as dogma? What element of faith and what models are you specifically talking about?

If we want to talk faith, everyone would be going to hell for looking at printed pictures, drawings, paintings, and so on. Worse yet for the people who MADE them. And if you're a fan of Firefly, forget about it, you just made the magic sky hermit jealous.

I could comment on the weirdness of censoring women in the photographs while not censoring the photographs entirely, but I won't, because I just don't care about religion that much.

No particular point. I just find it an odd thing to do, propelled by "faith".

I guess I find all faiths equivalently untenable. Some faiths are more familiar than others and therefore more socially acceptable, but once a culture steps beyond the realm of the provable then it could be subject to all kinds of mental mischief and intentional manipulation/ subjugation, with no way "out", because "faith" is blocking the door. That's all.

So subjugation is your meaning, and women trapped by their faith. Or maybe a more metaphorical trapping, not limited to any one group, but narrow-mindedness?

I read about this, and it really pissed me off. One of the conditions of that photo being released was that it would not be altered in anyway, so lets hope they get into a bucketload of trouble over it.

That doesn't make sense, I mean, she was there, why cut her out? Whether they want women of their community to be the secretary of state is irrelevent, Clinton was there and that is that, so it seems silly, immature and unnecessary to me. Is it clear that it was deliberate? Were there other pictures taken that she didn't appear in and they just used those ones?

Silliness to cut her out.

It probably has nothing to do with not wanting their women to be secretary of state. Probably. Some of this patriarchal culture stuff does start to veer towards out and out support of oppressing of women.

Like I said before, this is probably more of a different culture thing, some cultures are more strict about modesty than the mainstream secular American/ Christian community. Women in print is considered immodest and pornographic by some groups, even if they're completely dressed.

Yes, they deliberately took her out.

He's the Commander OF Chief, or so he claims.

He should at least act like he's kinda sorta in charge, do ya think ? Seriously, look at the guy... he looks sullen and dejected... not attentive or engaged, even a little.

But who knows. Maybe he was tired from all the phony pics they took, he was taking a break. Essentially this is his 'blinking' pic, where he simply wasn't " on ", as he was in the others.

Is it your implication that he should be in a big chair working on a laptop instead of observing the proceedings? It seems that the commander in chief should be looking at the whole instead of tinkering with details, so he can bring something to the attention of those under his command. Is that not the point of a commander?

And I notice that he's got one of the military brass sitting in "the big chair", presumably running a military op, and the President knows enough to stay out of the way after giving them the "Go!" order. Obama Golfs for the Fifth Weekend in a Row
by KEITH KOFFLER on MAY 1, 2011, 11:21 AM
Updated May 2, 2:44 am ET

UPDATE: The raid to kill Osama Bin Laden may have cut short President Obama’s Sunday golf.

The president left the White House to play golf at 9:42 am, arriving at the Andrews Air Force Base course about 25 minutes later, according to the press pool report. He then ended his game after nine holes at 1:39 pm and made it back to the White House at 2:04 pm, about two hours before the attack on Bin Laden appears to have occurred.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, the attack on Bin Laden’s compound north of Islamabad seems to have happened at about 1:10 am local time, which would be 4:10 pm Washington time.

The pool reporter noted that it was a little chilly and rainy, but this would not normally have prevented Obama from playing through. Obama would certainly have been alerted, however, that the attack was about to get underway.

Women tourists who visit Israel are surprised to find out that jews routinely spin on them.

Women are not allowed to use public transportation. And that's the jewish women.

They're lucky if that's all they do to them. Sometimes thye just beat up women, for the religious crime of being women in public.

Israel also bans Christians from citizenship or owning real estate. Being a Christian in public is a felony, such as giving an apple to a neighbor for dinner.

Sharia Law requiring bank loans without payment of interest. Kosher (Babylonian) Talmudic law requires pedoophile rabbis to suck the penis of little jew babies during circumcison ritual, even in USA.

This is why Jesus Christ and the Christians split from Babylonian Judaism, and why the jews then killed Jesus and all of the Christians who failed to run fast enough.

After reading down through this, the only thing I wonder is "WHY does anyone respond to Raptor?" He came in for no reason other than to diss Obama, has nothing to say about the issue, and typically does nothing but snark. He's just a waste of time, period.

What I've heard is that they routinely cut out any female in any photo, because even seeing a female might be "sexual suggestive". Pretty stupid, but hey, religious fanatics usually are. They also cut out another woman who was in the photo, but of course all the media talks about is Clinton being erased...

Again, I find Raptor's predictable snark at where Obama is, why he isn't what he should be, how Raptor sees him in a negative light...his veil is pretty solidly in place and he does nothing but make stupid cracks, so why even bother responding?

By the way, Clinton said of the photo that she didn't remember the exact moment, and could have been stifling a yawn or something. For whatever it's worth.

What do you mean "that how these things work"? Were you trying to say "That IS how these things work"?

ROFLOLOLOLOL!

Classic!

So you're unwilling to take Clinton at her word, but you were - and ARE, still - completely willing to take Bushie at his word when he claimed he gave up golf "for the troops". And then you were conclusively shown to be a fool, and Bushie was conclusively shown - again - to be a liar. Yet you still believe him, no matter what he says, and no matter what facts get in your way.

This photo was taken, released with the approved blessing of the WH press office. Why then did they have to quickly backtrack? You know exactly why, but your blind partisanship & false pride simply won't allow it.

What was the "backtrack"? Please, if you could, transcribe for us all exactly what the caption was on the photo released by the White House.

By the way, want to retract that idiotic lie you made earlier, when you claimed that Obama has played TEN TIMES more rounds of golf than Bush?

At least be honest with yourself; we know you can't be honest with anyone else.

Uh, to clarify, it was Hillary Clinton herself who said what I mentioned; I watched her do so. It’s such a tiny point it’s not worth mentioning, but Raptor seems to be saying it was a WH press release or something. It wasn’t, it was Clinton speaking on camera. I have no idea what is meant by "backtracking", as I haven't heard or read anything to that effect.

Lili, what I was saying is that the several stations I caught it on didn’t mention anyone but Clinton. I didn’t read any article on it. Oh, and Colbert didn’t mention the other woman, either, but it’s pretty obvious that was beside the point for his comedy purposes.

Yeah, Story; I think Bush saying he would quit out of “respect”, then going right on playing, says a lot more than which one of them played more golf. One is an insight into someone’s personality (and honesty), the other reflects a choice of activities, nothing more. To make a comparison, one would have to take into account ALL their various forms of off-work recreation, including clearing brush in Texas...

But the golf thing has been a steady refrain of Raptor's...he brings it up pretty regularly, as if it means something. I guess he just doesn't have much to offer in defense of Bush, so he keeps going back to that one.
Other than those points, I’m not bothering with Raptor...the rest of his crap isn’t worth reading, much less responding to. His constant “No, YOU are” about covers it.

Meanwhile, Rappy has never uttered a discouraging word about John Boehner's golf habits, which really dwarf Obama's (or pretty much anybody else's in government!).

Rappy's partisanship won't let him diss Boehner, of course. Nor Bush. Ever.

No, the 'lie' is as plain as day. I'm not going to waste my time w/ folks who are pretending to be this dense, simply because they have nothing else better to do.

You're 100% fine w/ this WH lying, and I get that. I'm just a bit surprised that you're such a complete and total sell out for this crowd.

Last time I'll say this, but it's a moot point anyways...

The WH released this photo under the false pretense, trying to sell this image to the public for something it was not.

It really is self evident, which is why they released the photo in the first place. It staged and completely misrepresented what was actually occurring in that room as the photo was taken.

Why was it released ? For sheer shock value. Why did Hillary claim she was 'sneezing/yawning/coughing' ? As a cover story, after their ruse was blown.

You idiots are complete and total dupes for buying this staged nonsense. You're 100% duped by the puppet theatre, you're laughing at your own idiocy, and don't even know it.

So you're saying that "the" lie is that the photo was staged. Right?

So what is "the lie"? You keep saying it's plain as day, but you refuse to name it. Could it be that you don't know what you're talking about? Wouldn't be the first time, of course. Or are you just "pretending" to be this dense?

Can you show me where I've said they AREN'T lying? Care to show me where I've said I'm "100%" *anything* with any White House lying? You were fine with the Bush White House lying - a LOT; in fact you still are fine with it. You have no moral ground to stand on when it comes to lying. Hell, you've been called on your own bullshit often enough. You even admitted to lying about your made-up Teddy Roosevelt quote, so you're a proven, admitted liar.

What were they trying to sell it "as"? what was it "not"?

Lookit Rappy, I don't have time to be bird-dogging right-wing media, and what you're hinting at doesn't make any sense.

If this ISN'T a group of people watching a live feed, then why is Clinton supposedly covering her mouth in horror? So where is the staging? What's being staged? Can you please just spit out what you keep hinting at?
