Quote: Shocking Revelation – Scottish Independence Candidate Lord Monckton Gagged by Scottish TV http://ukipscotland.wordpress.com/2011/04/27/shocking-revelation-monckton-gagged-by-scottish-tv/ Christopher Walter Monckton, 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley (born 14 February 1952) is a British politician, public speaker,[1] former newspaper editor and hereditary peer. Formerly a member of the Conservative Party, Monckton has been the deputy leader of the UK Independence Party since June 2010. In 2011 he stood as lead party-list candidate for UKIP in the Scottish Parliament constituency of Mid Scotland and Fife. In 1999, Lord Monckton created and published the Eternity puzzle, a geometric puzzle that involved tiling a dodecagon with 209 irregularly shaped polygons called polydrafters. A £1 million prize was won after 18 months by two Cambridge mathematicians.[22] By that time, 500,000 puzzles had been sold. Monckton also launched the Eternity II puzzle in 2007, but, after the four-year prize period, no winner came forward to claim the £2 million prize. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Monckton,_3rd_Viscount_Monckton_of_Brenchley

Which means that they will have a referendum to secede from the UNITED KINGDOM not the Commonwealth of Nations. "I really am ruggedly handsome, aren't I?"

William Wallace died, but at that time the Scottish cause was actually triumphant. They retook Edinburough castle, drove out Edward and his goons, and put a Scottish king on the Scottish throne. They remained independent until King James, a Scotsman himself, inherited both the Scottish and English crown. Then it kinda went downhill from there. Really wasn't until the LATER war with Bonnie Prince Charlie that got us rear-ended, though. And how.

Far as I'm concerned, everything Gibson did except the Lethal Weapon series (and not even the last two of THOSE) is shtick. Anyone ever notice how MUCH gore his movies have? Even Bruce Willis' Die Hard series didn't get as bloody as any Gibson movie, including the ones he directed. I dislike Mel Gibson on so many fronts, the least of which is his acting "talent" (I use the word advisedly)...

I'll tune out any movie I see on the TV list that has Gibson in it...and not just because of his religious beliefs (!) or his racism. For the same reason I won't watch a Costner movie; "Dances" was magnificent, as long as you took it for what it was, but in both cases, the egos have LONG outstripped the acting AND the person, in my opinion.
Quote: p.s. D'Onofrio, too, tho' I freely give him his efforts in "Men in Black"...there, ego HELPED!

Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.
Quote:Scotland could be as prosperous as Norway, Denmark, Switzerland with enough revenue from oil, gas, renewable energy and other industries to invest in a fund to look after future generations. The idea would be to invest revenues in a permanent reserve fund and use the interest to fund public services, pensions and other expenditure for years to come. According to UK government estimates only about half of the reserves of oil in the North Sea have been extracted so far, which means that there is still enough to support a population of just five million people. An international convention has determined that the North Sea north of the 55th parallel is under Scottish jurisdiction, which means some 90 per cent of the UK's oil and gas reserves are within Scottish waters. As far back as 1975, experts recognised that oil could make an independent Scotland one of the richest countries in Europe. A government report saying as much was labelled incendiary, classified as secret and hidden away for 30 years until it came to light at the end of 2005 as a result of Freedom of Information legislation. In addition to oil Scotland has as much as 25 per cent of the EU tidal and wind resources, which if managed properly could deliver a second energy windfall for the country.
