Well, when you are trying to alert the sheeple to the dangers of JEWS and Molech, that mission is hindered by a motorcycle crash at a hundred MPH that splatters your remains across the Gap.

Hey, someone has to feed the dragon.

From the pictures, I'm going to hazard a guess that this was at a track-day event, NOT on the Tail of the Dragon. If you're planning on going 100+mph on a bike, race tracks are generally the safest place to do it.

My personal best is 137mph - once on a bike, once in a car. The bike was the scarier of the two. :)

You piker, I've topped that - but of course it was in a friends NHRA amateur dragster, lol.

Hell, you might even know the car, there's not too damn many El Camino dragsters, Hint: Metallic Blue.

My personal best actually behind the wheel is about 1 mile less, in an Alero GLS with the limiters disbled, cause otherwise it tops out at 112mph.

The scariest, was actually only 62mph, but that was on a SEVERELY overpowered 1978 Puch Maxi with a highly modified Puch Newport engine and two-speed auto-over transmission.
I still have that bike too, just pulled it out, started it up and rode it around the block when the Ex started yammering about the three bikes still in her garage, seriously though, it's a death machine cause even the metal flake brake drums I hadda order from Jollymoto overseas STILL won't stop it that well, although the SAWA racing tires give it damn good grip, hehehe.
Best of all, it still *looks* like some old piece of junk that's been left laying in a barn for years... right up till I snap the throttle back.

Yup, Frem - the speed ain't the scary part; it's WHAT you're going that fast in or on that can make it scary.

I had my old CRX up to a radar-verified 131mph at one point, but it was a handful, as the aerodynamics at the rear of the car got weird, and the back end started making an odd "corkscrewing" motion - that's when I learned that one big drawback of a "fastback" body is that it's basically shaped like a big wing in cross-section, and can create some dramatic lift at the rear as a result!

Lowering the rear suspension 0.75" and installing a very small spoiler on the rear of the car helped get it all back under control.

137mph in a Subaru STi was very undramatic. I actually thought from the feel of the car that I was doing about 95mph, and it felt amazingly stable and secure at any speed.

You know what's REALLY funny/scary, powering a minivan through a long corner so hard it starts to bunny hop - that's pretty grand, and I think Top Gear did it at least once themselves.

Yep, they did - right here at about 5:05

Since the taxslaves paid $25-million for this racetrack stadium, it was required that I do my civil duty at 110 mph. Fast boys on tha big bikes were doin 170.

Especially since the track announced it was bankrupt and closing its doors 3 days later. Taxslaves get to pick up the tab.

Sounds like you should have supported your local track more, and they wouldn't have gone bankrupt!

I mean, hell, even WITH that alleged $25 million in gubmint sugar, they STILL couldn't break even?

Hard to blame the government for such a calamitous failure of your beloved free market capitalism.

Got my old 97 VW Jetta up to 108mph once on the interstate. I miss that old car, damn thing had 400,000 miles on it and running strong before a minor accident meant it had to be totaled. Not because it was badly damaged, but because it had 400,000 miles on it, but I digress...

Anyway, we were in college and a group of friends and I were going to a Music Educators conference in Savannah and this girl friend of ours was driving an Eagle Talon and my frat brother was driving a Firebird, and they started racing on the interstate. I got annoyed because I did not know the way and the plan was for me to follow them in my jetta with passengers. So I decided to push that little VW for all it was worth, seemed to take forever, and I finally caught up to them and flew past them at 108 while the passengers in my car made "VW" handsigns in the windows. I'll never forget the look of disbelief on the sports car drivers.

It felt like it took 20 min to safely slow down again and I'm lucky there weren't any cops around. The car was clearly not meant for those speeds and felt rather unstable. Honestly, it was rather stupid and terrifying, but I kept that to myself and we joked about how I 'won' the race.

Bikes are completely different from cars, on street and track. I've done 150 track days, 80 races and a dozen racing schools in cars, which meant NOTHING on a bike track day. Key is seat time, which was cheap in England, very hard to find or pay for in USA. Now the aholes just closed the only racetrack in Tennessee.

I've cruised at 130 for 3 hours non-stop in formation with commuter traffic on the German Autobahn, 100% legal.

I do the website for American Autobahn as seen on History Channel and Youtube at a legal 212 mph on a public highway, at night, in the rain.

What I'm trying to learn on the track is being able to change direction quickly, which is a lifesaver on the street. In a car, anyone knows to turn sharp requires turning the wheel quickly.

Bikes have a multistep process to change direction, beginning with countersteering in the opposite direction. All turns are don in the opposite direction, to make it lean.

When you add speed, this improves situational awareness. Bike racing bans mirrors as a safety hazard in crashes, so that's even more work.

I'd recommend everyone do a track day school.

TSA agrees with Piratenews -- speed the frak up!

Quote:

Angry that a woman was driving a few miles below the speed limit, Donald Eichler, a 63-year-old US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agent from Connecticut, decided to drive dangerously close to her, and pull out his TSA badge while off duty and pretend to be a police officer in order to intimidate her into driving faster. Eichler's aggressive driving and behavior was so intimidating that the woman immediately called 911 out of fear.

"He told police that he was upset that the woman was driving slightly below the speed limit on Sullivan Avenue, honked his horn a few times and showed her his TSA badge to try to get her to speed up, according to a release from police," writes NBC Connecticut in a recent report, concerning Eichler's behavior.

Eichler was eventually arrested and charged with "driving a vehicle to harass or intimidate," though he rightfully should also be charged for impersonating a police officer as well, which is a felony. Eichler's case is set to be heard on August 8 at Manchester Superior Court.

I found a little trick when I was autocrossing that came in handy - I'd make sure to adjust all the mirrors so I couldn't see anything behind me before I started a run. That way, if I *did* hit a cone (or course worker, perhaps...), I wouldn't be tempted to look in the mirror to see what happened, because in these events, WHAT'S BEHIND YOU DOES NOT MATTER. You can't go back and fix it, and wasting time looking at it and pondering it just screws with your concentration for the next series of maneuvers.

You had mirrors ? in Autocross ?
And they were still ATTACHED five minutes later ?
Okay, maybe we're not talkin about the same sport here... cause if you mean throwin a wreck through a dirt track with hard corners, a couple bumps and a little bit of bog - we considered that a FULL CONTACT kinda sport when I played it!

Nope, we call that "rallycross". Autocross is billed as a driver-instruction event. ;)
