DREAMTROVE

Just gnawing over the thought that this is the governing social message of our society.

That's what a ship is, you know - it's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs.

As is the message of the platform on the left. Jobs, I believe they call it. Bush called it "Path to citizenship" Obama calls it the "Dream Act" while both built more concentration camps inside the US than Nazis built in Germany.

But I didn't actually mean that, I mean just the overall message of society was a lie, but while we're at it, yes, that to.

When studying biology in college I read about something called the Pleistocene/Holocene event of mass extinction about 10,000 years ago. Years later I learned that every year since it began, the number of extinctions had increased. It's accelerating at an alarming rate. For most of you, half of all species of life on Earth have been exterminated in your lifetime. Virtually all the others will go before you die, and when you die, it seems statistically likely that your death will be part of the extinction of your species. In any event, humanity is the cause. There was no event of a meteor melting the ice age like I was taught needed to cause this, humans cause it, and do so with greed for money and power.

So, about a decade back I read an economic breakdown that if you look at the conditions which we refer to as "the great depression": A low end job ceased to be enough to pay for basic necessities, some people were homeless, even high end jobs would not enable you to simple go out, get a home and start a family as people had always been able to do. Suddenly, most people were in debt, had no savings, and all the remaining wealth was concentrated in a small number of hand. Those conditions never ended. The depression never ended. It was more of a fall off a cliff than a trip through a valley. We're still at the bottom of the cliff, the only thing that happened is that we got used to it as the natural state of being.

The last US combat soldiers in WWII would have returned in 1949, as we still had more soldiers on the front lines post-1945 tickertape parade than we have in combat today. By 1950, they were shipping back to East Asia to fight in Korea, and then Vietnam. This is similar to what happened at the end of WWI with the Russian Civil war. Did the war ever end, and if so, when?

If you look at the holocaust, in 1938 the nazis began a pogram of extermination against racial inferiors, something the soviets had been doing since 1922. After the war, we got their scientists in 1946, and added to our own internal globalist extremists who has already been at work for some time. By 1952, we had set up the UN, which created the WHO, which has been accused of sparking a policy of genocide in Africa as early as later that same year. In fact, mass exterminations by one group of another continues year after year, and may be doing so at an accelerating rate. Perhaps the holocaust is another event which should not be referred to in the past tense.

The conventional analysis of slavery is that in a northern dominated non-slave economy, slave labor posed a threat. But if you crunch the numbers, your average worker is working from cradle to grave, never being free from the debt of their contracts, a condition we used to call slavery. Perhaps the North had just invented a more subtle kind of slavery, no master with a whip, but rather, a system where the slaves did not realize they were slaves.

None of these were what I was referring to, but I consider them all worthy of discussion, I have my doubts that they will get any attention here. There was a time when this forum was filled with independent thinkers, but I think it's grown increasingly partisan. I'm becoming increasingly convinced that while I by no means have an understanding of the entire world power structure, that no perspective that does not begin with a rejection of both political parties' leadership as an ideological hegemony stifling debate and precluding anyone among the peons from seeing the agenda for what it is, which is, for both sides, at the very least not in their best interests.

The number 1984 has 496 of them. 64 is 4^3, but you only see that if you look at things with more depth. In Pizmoverse, 64≠4 so there is no connection.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

What you're saying, I think, is that the existential threats of the past- those which we created ourselves- have never stopped, just continued is a different guise. And that they are the beginnings of the end for us, and coincidentally for a lot of other species as well.

Right?

I'm saying that it's at least a possibility that we need to consider.

Too often I've learned that things I was taught as "this happened in the past" turn out to be things that happen again in the future. I didn't expect to see sweatshops return, or torture chambers, or concentration camps. I'm getting to the point where I'm beginning to think that "if it has happened in the past, it will happen again" is a better model, or possibly "if it has happened in the past, chances are it is still happening."

In the 1970s, I hear that women were forcibly sterilized across europe in the 1940s. 30 years later, I heard that this had also happened in the 1970s. This year we had a story that this was happening to black women in S. Carolina as recently as 2003. I didn't hear about it in 2003, and in 2000, would not have imagined that it would happen.

If we have no planet to live on, we have no species, and we become extinct. I breathe in air, and drink water, and eat food. Those things become a part of me. I am not separate from the environment, I am a part of it. If what I take in is laced with methylated non-digestible foodstuffs that mimic edible food, they will get trapped in my system, and make me fat and dysfunctional. If what I take in is laced with tetrachloroethylene, my cells will mutate, I will get cancer, and die.

The problem here, in part, is a civic mentality that the environment is somewhere else, some place monkeys live, and if bad things happen there, only monkeys will die. It fails to recognize that the planet provides the food and water and air that all creatures need to survive, regardless of where those creatures are living.

That's what a ship is, you know - it's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs.

History operates in cycles, mostly because we suppress learning from it by lying about it - but for every foray into darkness, there's always a countering rush from the other side as well.
Quote:

“There are two great powers, and they’ve been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit.”

But then, nature is on my side - and, say it with me now, folks...

NATURE ALWAYS WINS.

A comforting thought, Frem, but as environmentalist as I am, I am a human, and I try to see to it that humans survive. I'd just like them not to be so monumentally stupid.
