Ironically, if they had dressed as actual pirates, it would have been just fine. Despite pirates being a bunch of thieves, murderers, rapists, and sometimes even slave traders.

This falls in the 'too soon' category, since Nazis are still a dirty part of world culture.

Give it a century or two, and we might see this and not care.

Either no one caught it or people were intentionally ignoring that I had inferring Pirates with a P and not pirates, as in those whose name might be Pirate, regardless of what their last name might be.

Oh, I caught that. I assumed everyone else had, as well. Seems maybe not. Mostly, it seemed you were aiming the post at a certain Pirate whose last name rhymes with "Jews".
