I guess Ozzie cops are no better than our own. And there are Ozzies willing to stand up for what they believe, despite being treated violently. Good for them!

A magon's a chara,
How far are you from Melbourne? I know Australia is a huge place so you may be nowhere near there. Melbourne is very far south isn't it? Its the last place to be hit in On The Beach so that's why I think its pretty far south.

JONGSSTRAW

US Marines from the First and Sixth Division who survived the battle of Guadalcanal in late 1942 were transported to Melbourne for a few months of r & r. After what they had been though, they needed it. Sgt. John Basilone was presented with the Medal of Honor in Melbourne for his bravery in combat, then he was flown home to do a war bond tour. The Marines were warmly welcomed by the adoring Aussies, and they had a great time in Melbourne socializing with the local gals, as most of the Aussie men were off fighting in Burma and New Guinea. Eventually the Marines left Melbourne, and they shipped out to fight the Japanese on Cape Glouster in New Britain, Solomons. These same Marines would ultimately end up fighting on Peleliu, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. The only recreation and the only contact with women they ever had during the entire Pacific War was their visit to Melbourne.
