Yes, that Cheetah, from the Tarzan tv show!

No joke! He just died, on Christmas eve, and at the age of 80! Who knew chimps lived that long??

Seriously, the first bit of surprising news I've heard in a long while.

This has been retweeted a lot:

MiaFarrow
My mom,Tarzan's Jane, referred to Cheetah-the-chimp as 'that bastard' - saying he bit her at every opportunity. Cheetah lived to be 80

Yes, now I get my news from Twitter.

So twitter is more than wine tasting & shopping updates from Jewel Staite, or Adam's political views?

Huh.

Oh, I do too. Felecia Day's tweets are sometimes worth a chuckle. But to be honest, my following on twitter is sporadic, at best.

Hmm...I really have nothing to say about this...really.

But in the interest of fairness I'll turn keyboard over to the black stand up comic standing next to me...DaShaun, its all yours:

Cheetah died...damn, now we'll never see Obama's birth certificate.

Hello Hero,

I'm not sure what that means or why it is supposed to be funny?

DREAMTROVE

Cheetah acted for 30 years, which is long for a chimp, but he was not the only Cheetah

Not to lessen the tragedy, but I read a few years back that the cheetah who was still alive, being the one who just died, was not in fact the original cheetah, and that this had been a misunderstanding. If that were the case, it would make him more like 60. Still, the evidence was sketchy, based on the vet's estimate of the animal's age, rather than the preceding death of cheetah, so it could be inaccurate.

I see now that more than one extant chimp was claiming to be cheetah, or rather, others were making the claim, but then, there was more than one cheetah, so this may in fact be the death of the original actor, we just don't keep good track of our chimps.

That's what a ship is, you know - it's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs.

Seems there's either a bit of confusion , or some were trying to ride Cheetah's coat tails, and claim another chimp's glory. The report I heard was that he was the only chimp, for all those years, and there were no "other" Cheetahs.
