I've started a thread already to catalog Trump's future cabinet picks.

http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?tid=66262

They should be scrutinized. As should any policy moving forward.

The government is going to keep pushing shit that we don't want through in those bill packages they always sign. The Mainstream Media is NEVER going to tell us about anything important like that while they keep everybody arguing with each other. So if anybody digs up something that's just sliding through that we don't want, here's a great place to mention it.

Examples of things I don't want to hear about:

"Project 2025"

"He/She grabbed my ass 30 years ago"

"He/She fucked the maid"

"He/She did a line of coke back at a party in 1998"

"He/She wore blackface at a Halloween Party back when Bill Clinton was President"

"This is the end of Democracy"

"This is the end of America"

"Racist / White Supremacist / White Nationalist"

"Nazi / Alt-Right"

There's nothing "Alt" about us. We outnumber you.

I also don't want to hear any Economist's feelings about anything either, since they've been just as accurate about the economy as the pollsters and intellectuals were about who was going to win the election.

Trump won.

Now it's time to hold him true to as much as he can possibly get done that he promised as well as holding his feet to the fire when he does an about face.

Anybody wants to have a legitimate talk about policy, here's the place to do it.

Keep your Entertainment Weekly MSNBC bullshit out of here though.

It's a little too early to start talking about Trump's policies, since he hasn't even nominated a Cabinet yet. He's gotten as far as Chief of Staff ... a complete unknown as far as I'm concerned ... and we've heard Musk is already involved in policy.

But it seems Trump learned a lot from his first four years. He's being very quiet about what he intends to do, and very cautious about revealing what he's doing already.

And it has been said that anyone who says they speak for Trump ... isn't. So we can trashcan whatever NYT or WaPo or FT or anyone else says; it's all just attempted deep state manipulation.

Wait and see, I think.

Agreed.

I'm trying to make it clear here that some of us are truth seekers while others will follow whatever they're told and believe that their party can do no wrong.

I'm under no illusion I'm going to be 100% on board with everything that happens over the next 4 years after Trump is inaugurated.

I want to know about legitimate concerns. I want to know what his actual thoughts on Section 230 is now, for instance.

I love the fact that the Democrat shitshow of a party got the bitch slap that it's long deserved, but I remember how easily things go the other way too. And I know that some of the people that voted for Trump along side of us long for the GWB years and wouldn't mind them making a comeback. And with the Democrats being so confused about everything that they let all the NeoCons in their party in a last ditch effort to try and win a race they knew full well they were losing badly, I know that Trump doesn't have nearly the majority it would look like he had on paper when talking strictly by party lines.

At least it looks like we are going to have a much higher caliber of people in the cabinet than we've had in a very long time. Probably my whole life.

Honestly, now that he's in office I think the most important thing he does is continue to plant seeds. I don't believe that the Senate and/or the House is going to allow him to do the things he needs to do and that he promised he would do.

We'll have some wins. We'll have some losses. Some executive orders will be signed, only to be un-signed the next time Democrats win in the meantime. Some things we were talking about will suddenly drop out of the conversation, never to be brought up again.

I'm just along for the ride now, and I'm interested in seeing what progress can be made. At the very least, we're stopping the bleeding for another 4 years.

...hopefully.

One thing about Trump - I think he is sensitive to his constituency. Unlike Dems and many Repubs who'll just manipulate the hell out of the public to achieve their agenda ... whatever it is ... Trump actually pays attention to what his voters think. I think the way he handled Covid and the abortion issue indicates that.

I'm fair certain he'll muck up the Mideast in favor of Israel. Most of his voters are either rabid Zionists (even if they don't know the meaning of the word) or rabidly anti-Muslim, or both. I was against his Mideast policies before, which I find as morally repugnant as neocons', and I'll probably be against them this time.

Then we have jarheads like JSF who're all for war with China over Taiwan, or perhaps ANOTHER proxy war we're supposed to fund and weaponize. What they didn't get the first time is that Trump's beef with China was primarily economic, not military. But if there are enuf gung-ho Sinophobes in his constituency, he may accede to some sort of direct conflict with China.

There are two related problems that I think will be impossible for him to fix.

The first one is splitting Russia from China, Iran, and N Korea. He might decide to go "maximum pressure" on Iran (Israeli proxy war on Iran) and China (tariffs, sanctions, etc) and offer Russia an escape route (end sanctions, offer favorable terms on Ukraine) in return for Russia reneging on its deals with Iran, China, and N Korea. But Russia doesn't break deals like we do. I don't think that will work.

The second problem is the BRICS' nascent alternative trade, payment, currency, and finance system. I'm trying to think of a way he might lever that apart. Secondary sanctions? Brazil is the BRICS' most pro- USA member, with ties to the Dem party, and Saudi Arabia is the next-most influential almost-member. I'm sure he'll be working on a plan to weaken BRICS.

My other concern is the Federal budget. Yanno, Trump's experience is in real estate, and it's all based on funny money at that level. IDK if Trump, at heart, respects the effect a huge budget deficit has on the value of the dollar and on world finance.

Anyway, it'll be an interesting four years. Assuming he doesn't get assassinated before his term ends.

I know they're two separate threads, but IMHO appintments belongs here too, bc you can't implement policies without people to effectvthem.

I'm going to repeat the comment that I read ...

people who claim they're speaking for Trump ... aren't. Most, if not all, of what you read in the M$M is pure fiction. Which is par for the courss, but this time, its being debunked in real time.

Kremlin Says Reports That Trump Spoke To Putin Are 'Pure Fiction', Didn't Happen
Monday, Nov 11, 2024 - 07:50 AM

On Sunday The Washington Post reported that President-elect Donald Trump held his first phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin since being elected, saying it focused on achieving peace in Ukraine. The call supposedly happened from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Thursday.

"During the call, which Trump took from his resort in Florida, he advised the Russian president not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of Washington’s sizable military presence in Europe," WaPo wrote, citing several sources.

Who is Stephen Miller?

I don't know.

Here's what Wikipedia currently says about him. Take that with a grain of salt because who knows what bias is currently infecting that link.

Book by it's cover be damned, at least in that picture he looks like a wormy little shit, doesn't he? Like a lawyer? Or Peter Jacobson's younger brother?

No offense to Peter Jacobson... I loved him in House.

I keep hearing reports about Brandon and Kamala begging Trump to talk to them, share his plans, secrets, process. So they can be relevant, leak to Deep State and media.
Several agencies have claimed they will not allow him to exert Presidential power or authority, until he bows to their demands, paperwork, processes.
Doesn't sound like Trump is falling for it, and he has already explained why several times.

Did you all catch his announcement which will end Ministry of Truth? It had sweeping components of his plan. Restoration of Freedom of Speech.

I didn't hear Trump's explanation for why not exerting Presidential authority. But one good reason is that he isn't President yet, and he has no authority and neither does his staff. Last Trump was elected, Flynn had a casual chat with the Russian ambassador and Flynn got destroyed by the deep state.

Is that why?

Hooray for ending the Ministry of Truth!

I see from SECOND'S repost of The NewRepublic's article, http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?bid=18&tid=65372&p=94 that, in the liberal hivemind, the answer to 2024 is "more censorship".

Just the other night he called a closed door secret ballot to chose the next Majority Leader. They want to make sure they put another NeoCon RINO piece of trash in there and nobody can know who voted for who.

"People Of Israel Love Him": Mike Huckabee Tapped As Trump's Ambassador To Israel

Quote:

The appointment of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as the next U.S. ambassador to Israel has received enthusiastic support from Israeli settler communities and advocates of the country's territorial claims in the [occupied] West Bank.

Huckabee, an Evangelical Christian who has previously expressed his belief that God granted historic Palestine to the modern state of Israel, is a strong advocate for Israel's expansion in the occupied West Bank, which he refers to as Judea and Samaria. He also has a close relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Following the appointment, Yishai Fleisher, spokesperson for the Jewish Community of Hebron, expressed excitement, calling Huckabee a "great friend to Israel."

"We are very excited about Mike Huckabee. Governor Huckabee is an amazing person, both in his spiritual and political awareness," Fleisher told Newsweek. "He's a great friend to Israel. He truly understands the issues, has a heart for the people of this region [but only if they're Jewish. Everyone else is a non-person], and we're thrilled to have him."

This is where my heart sinks. Morally bankrupt and intellectually stunted choice.
