KPO

Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.

Thank you all for coming.

A brief background: In Niki's recent Santorum thread Auraptor suggested that kpo, as a British citizen, wouldn't be able to understand his Libertarian views. kpo responded with the bold claim that despite being a European with no love of Libertarianism, he understood said philosophy better than Auraptor, and challenged him to a duel to prove it.

The duel will take the form of an online political alignment test, with both competitors trying to answer how they think a pure Libertarian would. The person that achieves the highest Libertarian rating clearly understands Libertarianism best.

A third party supplied the following online test:
http://www.politicalcompass.org/test

To get a comprehensive result we could also do (if time permits):
http://www.politicaltest.net/show/politiktest
http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz

So Auraptor? Do you accept?

It's not personal. It's just war.

Not true. What it takes is the ability to answer the questions in a way that a "pure libertarian" would answer them, thereby showing an understanding of libertarian thoughts and ideals.

Hell, I scored very libertarian on this test, but the left-leaning kind, not the authoritarian kind.

The mini-thread jack, Popcorn poll: (while we wait for AU)

1. Your popcorn maker is:
- Whirly pop,
- microwave,
- steam,
- or some other kernel exploder

2. Your fat of choice:
- Real butter,
- margarine,
- yuppie spray on oil,
- weird but addictive movie house type non-food budda flavored-ish whirl,
- or sans-fat

3. Sprinkle choice:
- Morton's Chemlab Salt,
- "popcorn salt,"
- Sea salt,
- other

4. If I get crazy, I add:
- peanut butter
- chili powder
- bacon grease (I kid you not)
- Potpourri
- some other ungodly substance

5. I eat:
- whatever I make, ie, only the bottom of the bowl stops me (aarrgghh!)
- only a bit and save the rest for future enjoyment.

6. I eat:
- daintily, one kernel at a time savoring each precious morsel
- I'm a gobbler, and it doesn't matter who's visiting, if I can stuff it in my mouth I put it in
- somewhere in between

Hello,

While I do not eat popcorn, my wife loves popcorn, so I make it frequently.

1. Your popcorn maker is: An iron pot on the stove, with a steamer lid on it.

2. Your fat of choice: Olive oil

3. Sprinkle choice: Sea Salt

4. If I get crazy, I add: I never add nuttin.

5. I eat: Never

6. I eat: Not at all. My wife eats handfuls at a time while watching TV or browsing the web. She feeds a few popped kernels to the chihuahua (sp?) Lucius Vorenus.

I would call this Classic Style Moderne (the olive oil and sea salt), like simple pasta with olive oil - just a few ingredients - perfecto, no need to mess it up - a great style to master.

I really wish Raptor would do the test with KPO, just because KPO obviously really wants to do it and if he started a whole thread about it Raptor should oblige. If someone started a whole thread for/about me I'd want to do what they were asking. Well, within reason anyways, :)

I adore popcorn!1 microwave at home, but campfire and old school popcorn maker when in the woods. 2, regular butter or the butter stuff that comes on Organo-pop. I will eat the fako stuff at the theater when going with a friend, but I won't order it otherwise because its bad for me. 3 with our camping popcorn we put salt on it and I use my licked fingers to get at it on the bowl after the popcorn is gone. MMMMM salt. 4 I don't add stuff to popcorn likethat. 5 I will eat it all whenever I can. 6 I tend to eat one bite at a time, or two, but occasionally I'll do the stuffing face thing, but only on rare occasions, I'd rather savor the flavor.

This is a pointless, silly thread. I've already explained , in the thread mentioned in the OP, and at other times, my libertarian views.

I never claimed to be a 'purist', so the idea of a contest to see who is the " most ", or understands more about Libertarian views is nonsensical.

In fairness, there is an alternative possibility.

It's possible he decided that if he won, foul play would be suspected, and he'd lose honor.
If he lost, he'd lose honor.

Both outcomes lose honor.

Would everyone really have given him a genuine pat on the back and an 'attaboy' if he won?

Hello,

Taking the test 42 times to get the desired answers would violate the rules. That was always a possibility.

And if he was smart, he could spoof the test without even taking it at all.

Well, actually it'd show who is closer to what politicalcompass.org thinks a libertarian is.

You'd also have to determine whether a Left Libertarian or a Right Libertarian (as defined by politicalcompass.org) is more truly libertarian.

Anyone who reads the questions in the test can pretty much craft their answers to put the result anywhere in the universe of authoritarian/libertarian and Left/Right. I played four times and put my results in the four corners of rhe Auth/Lib/left/right square.
