Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Just pointing out that 'fair and balanced' Geezer couldn't bring himself to express how he SO disagrees with what his side does, no matter how vile.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Anyone else notice how quickly Rappy changed his opinion once Rush caved and apologized.

Before that, Rappy was all "He's anything BUT a 'lunatic',and specifically on THIS matter, I fully support him AND his views."

And just as soon as Rush collapsed into a quivering pile of jelly?

"Yeah, Rush was a lout for taking his analogy down the road which he did. ...he should have known better."

From full support to "he should have known better" in just a few days, following his lord and master's lead the whole way!

And please, don't start me on reality TV. Aaaarggghhhh.

If children learn that such behaviour has payoffs, financially, politically and whatever the hell people get on tv when they are famous for 15 seconds, then no amount of money spent on anti bullying campaigns will work.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner...

This is EXACTLY it - so long our societys REWARD that behavior, this will encourage it, and there's a massive pyschological blind spot on this, which also in part covers the foolhardy notion that such bullying STOPS at graduation.

Nope, all too often it continues there from an even greater disparity of power and even official sanction, cause said bullies gratitate to positions of legal or political power by nature.

This kind of bullying behavior says much about the audience that makes is worthwhile.

And what is that audience?

It is nothing more than a bunch of 13-16 year-old-boys gathered in a circle yelling "Fight! fight! fight!"

Sometimes I imagine a "woman's party", whose slogan could be anything from "Time to clean up" to "we can do better". It would be hard to imagine anyone doing WORSE!

From AOL's facebook page:

At AOL one of our core values is that we act with integrity. We have monitored the unfolding events and have determined that Mr. Limbaugh’s comments are not in line with our values. As a result we have made the decision to suspend advertising on The Rush Limbaugh Radio show.

Is it wrong that my first reaction was "AOL still exists?"

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

No. Me too. I heard that sound AOL always made when dialing up somewhere in an ad or on a TV show recently, totally unrelated, and it made me giggle. I wish could remember where I heard it...

And in other news....

More Limbaugh advertisers jump ship

(CNN) – Rush Limbaugh's apology for labeling a law student a "slut" and "prostitute" failed to stem an exodus of advertisers from his radio show, as another company said Monday it was withdrawing spots from the conservative program.

AOL ? INTEGRITY ?!!
What a joke, and a sick one at that, I could tell you things that'd curl your hair, and we're talkin hard evidence in those cases...

Ironic that as slimy as that company and it's origins are even they punted Rush though - I guess even THEIR brand of evil has standards, although I doubt many.

I heard a clip of what Limbau said and it was disgusting, I wanted to smack him. I don't enjoy the man anyways, but seriously that's really awful to talk like that about someone.

Signe, that is definitely one of the main uses of birth control for people who aren't currently sexually active, it does indeed help a lot in controlling periods, I used it for a time for that reason and now its all evened out.

Useta be whenever I caught my friends & rels using AOL, I'd warn 'em at some length. That never did any good. But for some reason, I had more luck with folks who'd got 1 month free CD in the mail ... Odd that.

At least a couple radio stations are dropping Limbaugh's show now, it's being reported.

Would it surprise you to know that I have that very image on a fridge magnet ? Had it since 2001, after the 9/11 attacks.
