The reason I think he couldn't is purely asthetic, Lincoln isn't very attractive physically, now adays, with TV and stuff, someone has to be pleasing to look at in order to be elected. He or she doesn't have to be a knock out persay, but they need to be attractive enough or else the fickle public will not be interested.
