Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

I saw that last night; righties will no doubt bitch that he's faking it, but to me it shows one side of Obama that I respect; he really gives a shit about the people. He's not that good an actor, those tears are real.

I caught him visiting the Chicago headquarters Tuesday and personally phoning some of the volunteers to say thanx, and thought that was pretty cool, too.

Tit for tat got us where we are today. If we want to be grownups, we need to resist the ugliness. If we each did, this would be a better reflection on Firefly and a more welcome place. I will try.

The evidence shows a grown man, a leader, crying.

Perhaps you meant he shouldn't cry.

In which case you need to address why he is forbidden such an expression, or why crying is pathetic. I have seen many manly men weep in victory, and I have seen all kinds of people weep when thanking those who supported them in their victories.

I thought we were past the outdated notion that tears indicated weakness.

It's funny, I saw the video before I heard any commentary on it. It never occurred to me to type 'Obama cries!' as the thread title, or as the vid's main selling point. I would've posted it here whether Obama shed a tear or not. It was a great, intimate speech. If like me you're not so swayed by soaring rhetoric read from a teleprompter, and want to see something more natural, and human, this is much more impressive. I defy anyone to watch this and say that Obama doesn't genuinely care about the country, and the people he's serving, and what he's doing for them.
