Seriously, these guys are heros, one all and every - just that most of em never need to prove it.

Fortunately, their prayers were answered as one of the passengers, who works for North American Airlines, got up to reveal he was fully qualified to fly a jumbo jet.

Not that there was any real risk - the Pilot can solo it if he has to, and the rest of the crew is crosstrained to read the checklists and whatnot, this was more a matter of taking every possible precaution, since Airline pilots are trained to load the deck as far in their favor as possible, a policy I am completely down with.

Despite that, it was still a pretty cool thing to do, and I suspect well worth a round or drinks or two when he tells the tale.

Despite a certain cynicism, I do prefer happy endings.
