And anybody who thinks I'm serious about the header is a fool or a troll, or hasn't been listening.

This was the only mention I've seen of his passing on the internet, at least so far.

The man was a gigantic influence on American culture and arts. He surely sang music that spoke TO me, and often spoke FOR me.

Rest well, Pete, we'll miss you.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

And a fervent "amen" from me. I've seen the news everyplace; I haven't even read any of the articles, don't have the heart. That he's dead saddens me greatly; he was a force at a time when I was young and thought we could change things. Now I'm a cynical old woman and miss the hope of that time and the belief people like Seeger gave us.

I can't say "I'll miss you" because he's already been "gone" for so long for me, it was a surprise to discover he was still alive. Mostly I guess I'm sad he lived long enough to see the way things are these days; hope he had a wonderful life with lots of love, and maybe that he wasn't paying attention the last twenty years or so...

Niki, there's footage of him on you tube from the last few years, still singing. And he sang at Obama's inauguration, at least one of the musical events. And there's Springsteen's The Seeger Sessions album, mostly a sad inadequate copy- Pete, even really OLD Pete, sang 'em better than Springsteen ever could. And I saw a reference to him singing at an Occupy movement event.

I think he went away with the hope and the belief that, bad as things may have gotten, they're going to get better again.

Wow, that's neat, I didn't know he was still active. I sincerely hope your last sentence is true, that would be nice to think, thank you.

just caught a 90 min. show of PBS, the American Masters series, a bio of Pete, lotta music, lots of commentary by other performers. Watch for it, it'll be re-run, I'm sure.
