Plus, Im a film collector - the cloud means diddly to a collector. Vinyl is a niche market, too - but its still there (and their sales have been growing for the last few years).

OK. I don't know what that means. I bought my plasma a few years ago because plasma is on the way out and it was pretty damned cheap for a big screen. I forget how big. 48"? Big enough, it ought to be, though with blu-ray I find myself wanting a bigger screen.

One common problem you may discover is making sure all of your inputs and outputs along the way are compatible, from the disc to the player to the cables to the TV. You don't want to push a 1080p image through a 720 output, and old school 480 content is kind of missing the point to watch on a 1080p tv (upsampling is better but only so much).

Some people are looking at early 4K sets (huge price drop by Sony to gin up interest), but there isn't 4K content yet, not much at least. The Netflix drama is being released in 4K, but just like the early days of any new format, it'll be a slow rollout. Remember HD players?? I actually know some fool who bought 4 Serenity disks in HD thinking he would give them to libraries and friends and be though of as a swell person. Ehhh! (Anyone need an HD Serenity disk?)

If you see a 4k tv with the right content, the image has 4 times the detail, and you can see it, it's amazing, it's so sharp it hurts, but you have to wonder: is that really better? Do I really need to see more detail in Kevin Spacey's face?
