Just think about all the people who have been eating the wrong things all their life, and how knowing what not to eat could change their health.

I don't know how I knew it, except that I always distrusted anyone drawing lines as to how I ought to live my life. When it became an issue for me, I listened to my body. I tried eating this or that, and I sorted out for myself what I should or shouldn't eat. If you've listened to orders from on high and obeyed them, that is a shame. I don't say that to be mean. I'm just happy for you if you're learning to trust your own voice above the "authorities." Here is what I learned: I trust my own cravings, but I make sure that they are truly my own cravings, not the result of the ad-man games. If I really want to eat something, I do. Our bodies need fat. We need sugar. We need protein. If my body gets what it's craving in due time in due amount, it's satisfied and I don't end up giving in to the temptations of carefully crafted advertising for absolute crap that I don't need. I think the worst dysfunction happens when we ignore what our bodies tell us and instead trust some advertiser or health "guru" (usually bought by the ad-men). What the hell do they know?
