I'mma say it again. Different genetic groups evolved to have different abilities and disabilities. There's a REASON for stereotypes. Not everyone in a group fits these stereotypes, of course, but a great many people do. Mom's side are German Jew, wanna guess what they are most concerned about? That's right, MONEY. Dad's were Irish. Every one of 'em drank, had a temper, a little A.D.D. and were always broke.

I'm sure if you are honest with yourself, you can probably see the stereotypes in your own blood...

Why are you basing this post on an article that has leading geneticists condemning your own theory?

Quote:

In a letter to the New York Times Book Review, they wrote: 'Wade juxtaposes an incomplete and inaccurate account of our research on human genetic differences with speculation that recent natural selection has led to worldwide differences in I.Q. test results, political institutions and economic development.

'We reject Wade’s implication that our findings substantiate his guesswork. They do not.

'We are in full agreement that there is no support from the field of population genetics for Wade’s conjectures.'

Wait... last time this happened, Byte said you were just winding us up for kicks. Is this another one of those pranks?

They condemned him for the same reason. It's not PC. Look at the comment section, they get it...

The comments section. Heh. Now I know you're joking. What an intellectual goldmine, boasting such things as "the white race finally needs to stop apologizing" or "Egyptians were European".

Like reading news, you must filter. I have found some profound things in comment sections myself, they are a great place to get personal POV from actual people. Oh, and my computer goes to "new comments tab" first, btw...

So, what ethnicity ARE you?? Are you an exception or are you a stereotype?

Is that the relevant question when we would still disagree on whether genes or upbringing made me who I am?

Proving me right, AGAIN! Specific groups have specific characteristics in common!

Now, you wanna know the truth about gay and lesbian DNA?

It's a movement/mood disorder. Kinda like Aspergers or Dyslexia. Ever notice many lesbians tend to have male characteristics like aggressiveness, and gays tend to have feminine traits like gait?

The thing is, we can't fix dyslexia, either. And knowing that it's a neurological disorder, it probably WON'T ever be fixed.

Also, I should mention that non-neurotypicals generally have a special talent of some kind, just like Autism spectrum. That's why many are actors, singers, artists, leaders. They're wired up different as well...

Is it like families who wear hats go bald sooner than others? Is that genetic too?

The chronic psychological NEED to wear hats would be genetic, possibly insecurity based (if not required for a job or something). Wearing hats doesn't make you go bald though, because if it did, wearing undieroos would make one loose the shrubbery...

I wouldn't know, though. I seldom wear 'em to avoid getting permanent granny panty lines across my nice round buttox. The only nice piece of equipment I got

Ps.

Hi dun

Not genetic, family learned - hat covers the bald spot, which came after wearing hats like dad did, when he covered his bald spot.

Very poor logic. Keeping a vise around your skull (aka hat/cap/visor) to deny adequate blood supply to the roots of your noggin hair would be like foisting a circular vise around your genitals to deprive your shrubbery of blood. I have not seen anybody where that wort of thing on thier business.

Like I said, insecurity. A normal person would realize going bald doesn't mean anything, and unless yer freezin or boilin YA DON'T HAVE TO WEAR A HAT.

Sorry, science has ruled the hat thing a myth.

Humans have a long love affair with hats. From bowlers to beanies, hat styles might come and go, but headgear has been with us for thousands of years. But is there a hidden danger in hats? Rumor has it that wearing hats could cause hair loss. Could hats really make you go bald?

The short answer: probably not, says Aman Samrao, a dermatologist at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Samrao studies traction alopecia, one of the mechanisms suggested for how hats might make people lose their hair. Traction alopecia happens when you put a lot of stress on the hair follicle, and the hairline recedes because of that pulling. It happens most frequency in African American women who have worn their hair in tight braids since they were young. But it can happen to anyone who puts continued stress on their follicles, through hair extensions, and other hairstyles. Samrao even documented traction alopecia in a ballerina who wore her hair in a tight bun most of the time.

But hats don’t provide nearly enough tension to cause alopecia, Samrao says. “I don’t see how a hat could cause that, unless you’re wearing it so tightly that it’s pulling your hair.”

The other explanations commonly put forth — oxygen loss to the follicle and depriving the scalp of natural nutrition — are both unlikely as well, says Maria Miteva, a physician at the University of Miami. “In my opinion wearing hats does not cause hair loss,” she says, but wearing tight headgear could cause other kinds of problems. If the hat is particularly tight, it could break the hair follicles, and cause bald batches (also called friction alopecia). But friction alopecia is temporary, and the hair grows back once the hat stress is removed.
