EVERY scientist who denies the TRUTH of global warming does so at the behest of BIG OIL!! It's a well documented FACT!

Climate denial can't provide a coherent explanation for the full body of evidence describing what's happening to our climate. They lurch from denying that global warming is happening to blaming the (nonexistent) global warming on some natural cause to claiming that (nonexistent, non-human-caused) global warming doesn't matter because, well, chillax dude!

In contrast, climate scientists present many lines of evidence pointing to a single, coherent conclusion: that global warming is happening, that humans are causing it, and that climate impacts are being felt everywhere.

Guess not - didn't even warrant a mention is the causes of the solar-system-wide warming of globes, so that must mean farting cows are causing the heating up of planets in the far reaches of our solar system, even on the opposite side of our Sun from us, and all in unison with our global warming.

In the spirit of transparency, I should admit that I have an assumption that AURaptor has a bit more understanding of the concept of these little planets in the solar system having their heat supply and regulation governed from a distance of 1 Au. Because, of course, his handle, or login name includes "Au" which must remind him every day how far away the SUN is from us. I could be wrong about this, but I have not seen anybody else here who uses a login name referencing our planet's heat source, let alone the distance between them.

News today: Franklin Expedition ship found because of what? Guess? Wait for it....
They could not search for the lost ship in the location they were scheduled to because there was TOO MUCH ICE. The scientists clearly stated that the MYTH of lessening ice would have allowed them to search in their scheduled location, but instead they had to shift south and FOUND IT!
Canadian meteorological scientists stating the lessening of ice is a MYTH - but who can believe them, they don't have a libtard bias to their facts, nor a political oar in the water.

Update today: This shipwreck has been identified as HMS Erebus, which was Franklin's flagship and likely where he perished.

Now here's where we get into your "facts" again .... which btw I already addressed in my post.

Do you know the difference between square miles and cubic miles? Because whether you get that concept will make a difference as to whether you understand what I'm about to write:

Let's say you have a creek, and it's frozen solid: ice from surface to creekbed. Then, it starts to thaw, and water starts trickling under the ice. Pretty soon, water is flowing freely under the surface. Just because you still have a layer of ice on top of running water, would you say that the creek has NOT melted???

Arctic sea ice reaches lowest maximum extent on record.

On February 25, 2015, Arctic sea ice extent appeared to have reached its annual maximum extent, marking the beginning of the sea ice melt season. This year’s maximum extent not only occurred early; it is also the lowest in the satellite record.

'lowest maximum extent' = fact, op

The only way it could be 'growing' at the same time it has its 'lowest maximum extent' is if you're using a made-up language where, magically, less ice = more ice.

So, comparing it to '2 years ago' is more meaningful than 'on record'?

As in, last year 'there was more ice than 2 years ago' is more important than the fact that now the ice is at the lowest maximum EVER recorded?

Myth of Arctic meltdown: Stunning satellite images show summer ice cap is thicker and covers 1.7million square kilometres MORE than 2 years ago...despite Al Gore's prediction it would be ICE-FREE by now

Seven years after former US Vice-President Al Gore's warning, Arctic ice cap has expanded for second year in row

An area twice the size of Alaska - America's biggest state - was open water two years ago and is now covered in ice

These satellite images taken from University of Illinois's Cryosphere project show ice has become more concentrated

WAIT! Didn't we have this conversation before?

Quote:

Well, that is rappy- thinking his backyard... or a single event ... represents an entire history. I think he understands the word "decline", what he can't quite wrap his brain around is "long term" or "worldwide". It's too big. -SIGNY

And Sig - you think that the ice build up was a 'single event' ? Really? Pretty sure that's not how it works w/ arctic ice. Takes what ? Time.- RAPPY

Yep... it shrinks in summer, and grows in winter. But OVER TIME.... decades, not a couple of months or a couple of years... Arctic ice has shrunk. That's what they mean by LONG TERM... something beyond a day, or a month, [or a year], even a decade.-SIGNY

Well, here you are claiming that more ice isn't a 'single event' but a TREND, over TIME. This is in your words. Something you affirm from your own - what passes for a mind. Something you can't hide behind as a quote. This is YOUR claim. Which is wrong. Yet again.-KIKI

Nope. I'm not wrong, you are. There IS more ice now than there was 2 years ago. FACT. I didn't make up the story, out of thin air, the story exists because of the very fact that there is MORE , not less ice in the arctic.
- RAPPY, doing his usual I'm right and you're wrong when the real facts clearly contradict his factoid

This place tracks arctic ice: http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/
Today's picture looks like this:

Oh PSHAW!
Your decades worth of ice decline are nothing - NOTHING! - compared to little rappy's two-year time period he's designated a 'trend'! And he said so! So it's true!- KIKI

And here is RAPPY's CLASSIC HOWLER, where he dismisses HIS OWN EVIDENCE. RAPPY SAID:
Quote:

Decades really aren't all that significant in geologic or planetary time.
So, if "decades aren't all that significant", a single year is even less significant in the grand scheme of things, correct?

Quote:

1000's or even 10,000's of years only begin to make sense then. But the anthropomorphic bias that we view things, oh yeah, a few decades is a long, long, long, long time.

So, Rappy, your one-year trend, which you claim is not single "event" but a meaningful length of time ... apparently is meaningless compared to 1000s of years. Certainly less meaningful than dozens of years of observation.

So, why are you crowing about sea ice increasing one year? As far as I can tell, you've just told us that a one-year point is ... lost in the noise of geologic history.

Yanno what? When sea is volume increases to the point where it is OVER the historic norm for a few years in a row, get back in touch with us. But given that THIS year (2015)
Quote:

On February 25, 2015 Arctic sea ice likely reached its maximum extent for the year, at 14.54 million square kilometers (5.61 million square miles). This year’s maximum ice extent was the lowest in the satellite record, with below-average ice conditions everywhere except in the Labrador Sea and Davis Strait. The maximum extent is 1.10 million square kilometers

Arctic ice area

Arctic ice volume (area X depth)

http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/
my guess is you'll have a snowball's chance in hell of ever making that post.

Harry freakin Potter has zero to do w/ the FACT that the ice was thicker and bigger.

Quote:

However, Dr Hawkins added that the decline seen in recent years was not caused only by global warming. It was, he said, intensified by ‘natural variability’ – shifts in factors such as the temperature of the oceans. This, he said, has happened before, such as in the 1920s and 1930s, when ‘there was likely some sea ice retreat’.

The daily mail ran a story about 2014, and compared it to 2006. Meanwhile - guess what - time moved on. The new story is about 2015, compared to 'ever' on record.

I know your mind is particularly slow. I know you have problem understanding the difference between a month vs a year, and a local area vs the globe. So I can see you might have to think very very hard about the difference between 2014 and 2015. But I know in my heart if you try you can do it.

Show me where the good doctor didn't say that, and you'll have my attention. If not, go suck on an ice cube.

So, weather is variable??
Say it isn't so!
And that's why people LIKE RAPPY shouldn't take ONE YEAR, or THEIR BACK YARD, and project it over the entire globe- or the next ten years!
Right, rappy?

In the meantime, the LONG TERM trends say it's melting, not growing.

Disprove that!

You DO know what the word 'decline' means, right?

As in, last year 'there was more ice than 2 years ago' is more important than the fact that now the ice is at the lowest maximum EVER recorded?

PLEASE - keep on with your idiocy. Don't let me, the facts, normal English, logic or sanity stop you. Your posts make a fine collection.

Is your mental stability faltering?

Note statement of lowest on record.

RapKnight was pointing out that 2 years ago should be included in all-time history. Thus the "on record" is proven false. Unless you don't accept the original premise.

Either "lowest on record" includes 2 years ago, which is proven false by 2 years ago being lower; or "lowest on record" means except 2 years ago, defying the definition of the words.

They're just pissed that their TRUE lord and master, AlGore, was humiliated, yet once again, as he utterly and completely missed with his preDICKtion that the Arctic would be ice free by now.

TWO years ago? That would be 2013 - a year no one is discussing. What ARE you talking about?

So you are trying to redefine ALL-TIME HISTORY or LOWEST ON RECORD as really meaning "except for 2 years ago - nobody would ever discuss that" now? Or are you just pathetically parsing?

JSF, I have no idea what you're trying to say.

RAPPY'S point was that in 2014 there was "more ice" than in 2012. A lot more. So what? Thru most of 2012, the ice was the lowest it's ever been. Whatever rebound was experienced in 2013 and 2014 only brought the ice level up to the lower edge of the gray band .... in other words, still lower than average, as opposed to historically low. 2015 is BEGINNING to look like it may be even lower than 2012, and all of that blather about the robust resurgence of the sea ice may turn out to be just that- blather.

Here is an good interactive tool, if you want to see the ice extent for any/each year compared to other years.

http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/charctic-interactive-sea-ice-graph/

Now, what IS important is that ice is melting which hasn't melted in 400,000 years. So if you want to look for markers of geologic significance, that's one.

Antarctic ice is melting faster than ever seen.

Quote:

Antarctica is melting, not growing. In fact the ice mass is dropping at an accelerating rate due to multiple factors including accelerated glacial ice calving rates. The loss of sea based ice allows the Antarctic ice to move faster towards the ocean resulting in an increased rate of loss of the Antarctic ice.

ice-melt

All you have to do is go to google, or the websearch of your choice, and type in antarctic ice. After that, all you need to do is read with a modicum logic. Both are apparently beyond you, since you prefer fantasy to reality.

There is ONE thing that's growing and not shrinking, and that's the stupidity on this board.

Yeah. Sure.
All those people actually on Antarctica really have no idea what they are talking about when they point out there is more ice than ever recorded before.

I suppose we should all just believe some Libtard sitting in his chair complaining that his air conditioning is not working, and that means the globe is warming.

Summer is ending down there, as it's starting to heat up in the N. Hemisphere. Temps generally are the warmest at the end of summer, as air / water have had the longest exposure to sunlight. The reports take time to come in, as data are collected. More ice means there's more to melt. Duh.

This entire AGW crap is much ado about nothing.

Scientists: Earth Endangered by New Strain of Fact-Resistant Humans

By Andy Borowitz

“These humans appear to have all the faculties necessary to receive and process information,” Davis Logsdon, one of the scientists who contributed to the study, said. “And yet, somehow, they have developed defenses that, for all intents and purposes, have rendered those faculties totally inactive.”

I refer to them as morons.
