So, Mrs. Clinton's husband got these 2 American citizens and journalists freed from North Korea just by going there.

This CNN.com piece suggests that the NK's asked for Bill specifically, and the deal was done as soon as he agreed to go.
I also saw, yesterday, in some local papers, accusations that Billy and Obama gave the NK's a propaganda victory just by agreeing to go, and giving them a hi-level photo op, when they are really of no consequence.

And as CNN asks here, where could Billy be useful next? Where SHOULD he be used? Negociating with Iran, over the 3 hikers? Israel? ( I resist a joke here about some sort of Catholic Girls' School... too easy.) Whadda ya think?

Send his ass to the UN.

He's a slimy, oily, slick bastard, but he's OUR bastard - and they don't call him Slick Willy for nothing, he *IS* good at sleazing his way into the good graces of other politicians and getting close enough to stick the knife in, metaphorically.

Hell, I woulda preferred his ass as our UN rep to having him as president, were it not for the other sides offerings having been so much worse.

I mean, he's everything you WANT in a diplomat, isn't he ?

Sure beats sending some radical zealot who offends everyone in range the instant he opens his mouth whether they speak his language or not (lookin at YOU, Bolton) and that failure was one of the most critical I hold against the former administration.

I'm glad he was able to get the girls freed, and I *hope* his visit can jump-start talks between the U.S. and North Korea. I'm of the opinion that you'll get further in your diplomatic relations by talking TO someone rather than talking ABOUT them, but that's just me...

Now, having said that, I certainly don't consider ol' Slick to be any kind of "messiah". So far as I know, there was only really the one worshipper who ever fell to her knees before him... So if this is the second coming of Bill Clinton, somebody better get Li'l Kim a towel!

Why not? It worked with North Korea. Ex-Presidents can be useful in this role, so long as no promises are made.

If this reality show they're making out of the first trip works...maybe this could be a sequal or the start of a regular thing...like the Apprentice.

Spend a couple seasons negotiating the release of innocent folks caught up in stuff like this. When the ratings fall they can rescue someone from Gitmo..., do a failed spinoff with Martha Stewart, and then move into rescuing celebrities and completely sell out.

Sponsorships from Pepsi, Gulfstream, Target, Hooters, etc.

Seriously, Clinton is pretty well liked by the hate-America crowd around the world. Send the guy in and see what he can do. Besides, Carter is getting to old for this.

Billy did OK, but I wonder if he would have went if they didn't work for Gore.

Well, it's been reported that Gore asked him personally to do it, so I don't think it would have happened if not for Gore.

Is there something wrong with Gore asking him to help out?

Is there something wrong with saving two young ladies from a Stalinist regime? Is there a problem with rescuing two journalists from the "axis of evil"?

Rush Limbaugh wants to know if Clinton "hit on" the young ladies on the long flight home. Given his past record, says Rush, "everybody's thinking it".

So let's apply that to Rush: Given his past record, isn't everyone thinking that he was whacked out of his watermelon-sized head on illegally-bought hillbilly heroin when he made such stupid remarks?

So what's the scoop, Jabba the Rush? Are you back on the Oxycontin again?

And speaking of young ladies, doesn't Rush pack a suitcase full of Viagra before he heads off to vacation in Singapore with all the 10-year-old sex slaves he can buy? Hey, everyone's thinking it, right?
