Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

First the site wouldn't come up at all; now I can get into threads under "Community", but I can't get into any of the forums directly, and when I get into a thread from RWE, the "other threads" listed there aren't RWE ones, they're from "Firefly News". Same with any other threads I click on in "Community". I assume it's more crap like what happened over Xmas, but I'm sure frustrated. Hope it gets fixed soon, I miss youse guys!!!

I been havin' troubles too. Mostly getting some sort of error message about "unable to connect to that address", which is the same bookmark I been usin' forever. So I figure, too, it's leftovers from the virus attack, and Haken's ISP making things unavailable while they work on the software.
But I also got a new internet provider, and sometimes both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Exploiter won't load my homepages. And my Norton Anti-Virus subscription timed out Dec 26, so I thought maybe I had a virus myself.

I was gonna post an "Is it you or is it me?" message.

Can't say I'm glad others are having trouble here, too, but I'm glad it ain't just me. Was getting ready to wipe my C:/ drive and start over, and , OY!, what a tzimmitz that would be. Gonna put that one on hold for a few days, at least.

Haken said the site has been intermittently down due to excessive bot use of the site. Bots can be used to post, access posts, or follow links, which aid in any programatic search engine optimization. Whoever is doing this, they do so at the expense of the community, and the expense of Haken, whose site this is, which is disrespectful.

I don't know who is doing it, but I can be fairly sure it's one of us, so posting a good old cease and desist here should do the trick.

Here's a logic that whoever is doing it can follow:

The PR4 FFF pigeon power in the system goes stale very rapidly if the site dies. Whatever you've taken from it so far is as much as you're going to get. If you push it further, you'll kill the site, and delete any value gained.

Haken does not have infinite patience or available time to repair damage done to the server by bots. He actually takes time out to repair this damage for our benefit. This is not Yahoo or Google, it's a system written by a random programmer, and as such is fragile. Please treat it with respect, as well as its members and creator.

So it's the site that's been messing up. Because of bots. Whoever is using bot, (you know who you are), is killing the site, and thus killing a great way for FF fans to get the show back, in any form, or to just talk about the show. Personally this is starting to piss me off, as i want to talk with other fans, but can't. STOP KILLING THE SITE!!!!!!!!! Hey, maybe that should be our new campaign.
