DNC Chair: Republicans Believe Illegal Immigration 'Should be a Crime'
Tuesday, May 31, 2011
By Fred Lucas
(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D.-Fla.), chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, denounced Republicans last week for believing illegal immigration “should in fact be a crime.”
“I think the president was clearly articulating that his position--the Democratic position--is that we need comprehensive immigration reform,” said Wasserman Schultz at a Christian Science Monitor Breakfast on May 26.
“We have 12 million undocumented immigrants in this country that are part of the backbone of our economy and this is not only a reality but a necessity," she said. "And that it would be harmful--the Republican solution that I’ve seen in the last three years is that we should just pack them all up and ship them back to their own countries and that in fact it should be a crime and we should arrested them all...”

You stupid bitch. Illegal means it ALREADY IS A CRIME! At the very least a civil infraction that is prosecutable. Wow, this is the genius of the leftist leadership.

Didn't read your own link, did you? She was pointing out Republican-sponsored legislation that would make it subject to criminal prosecution rather than a civil matter as it is now.

so what are you gonna do with them? If it's a crime, don't you have to put them in jail or prison? Isn't any sentence in an American prison better than a free life style back home? Room and board, free clothes, plenty to eat, no work, no worries, medical care...

And after? They have no legal status here, send them back. This should be a foregone conclusion.

I like this bit, from the same article.

Quote:

Further during the breakfast, she stressed that support for Israel should not become a partisan issue, and believed that Republicans were trying to make it one.

“One of the most tremendous sources of pride for me is that I am the first Jewish woman to represent the state of Florida in Congress. And another tremendous source of pride is that I am a pro-Israel Jewish member of Congress and I proudly support a president that is pro-Israel,” Wasserman Schultz said.

“What I think is unfortunate and what I suggested along with others, including members of the Republican Jewish Coalition that are not the executive director of that organization, that we need to make sure that like AIPAC pushes for, like Jewish Federation pushes for, like ADL [Anti-Defamation League] and every major Jewish organization pushes for in this country, we need to make sure that Israel never becomes a partisan issue,” she said.

Looks like she's saying "As a Democrat I need to make Israel a partisan issue to prevent the Republicans from making it a partisan issue." Sort'a like "We had to destroy the village in order to save it"?

Did I miss the part of the article where she said we shouldn't do that?

By the way, how are you planning to pay for all the new law enforcement, border patrol, prisons, resources, etc., you're going to need in order to really make a dent in illegal immigration? Bear in mind that that's largely FEDERAL spending that you'll need for these things.

Sounds like the "small gubmint" so-called "conservatives" are pushing for a radical increase in both the size and the scope of immigration enforcement, and are either too stupid or too dishonest to realize that this is, in fact, LARGER government, not smaller. Y'all make that mistake a lot. Every single time your guys get into office.

Easy. Take the ATF, which arguably is an agency all about harassing citizens and reallocate their agents to the border patrol. They're already good at harassing people, they'll just have to harass people with no fixed address who can run, jump and swim. If a bunch of them resign in protest, all the better. While you're at it, do the same thing with the DEA. A few thousand less door kickers would be a good thing.

"...a pro-Israel Jewish member of congress." Huh? Like there's an anti-Israel Jewish member of congress?

And didn't 0bama just tell Israel to go back to its 1967 borders? How is that Pro-Israel? What the fuck is in the koolaid these idiots are drinking?

Don't know, but you seem to be drinking something quite a bit harder and more mind-numbing.

Obama didn't tell Israel to go back to its '67 borders; he suggested that they use those borders as a starting point for negotiations, with concessions and land given back by both sides.

You really do post some of the stupidest shit...

So you're not really for SMALLER government, you're just for moving government resources around so they target those you don't like. That about sum it up?

I'd like a federal government small enough that if needed I can drag it into a bathtub and drown it.

I'd like to see a federal government that acts as a facilitator between the states. Establishing standards and overseeing coordination between similar agencies in sister states. The money would flow from the fedgov to the states to get the needed jobs done. If the states don't want to play ball they'd be cutting their own throats, and the throats of their neighboring states.

Of course the principal job of the fedgov would be to deal with foreign governments.

Do I think this is possible? Maybe. Will it be easily accomplished soon? No way. Maybe not without some sort of revolution. We've got a huge bloated beast squatting on our backs.

The more I get to know people the more I like my dogs.

I find her pro-Israel stance far more worrying than the immigration issue. Anyone with half a brain has GOT to recognize that we can't just pack up illegal immigrants and send them back, nor do our prisons have even a tiny amount of the space it would take to incarcerate them; there are millions of them! Rooting them out would cost an enormous amount of taxpayer money, not to mention the fact that they CAN'T all be rooted out, doing so would go on for decades and still not get all of them. It's an issue that has yet to be debated with any common sense whatsoever, partly because the only answer from one side has been to do just that. There needs to be some semblance of realistic approach to it, and until there is, nothing viable will happen.

But her pro-Israel stance, that DOES bother me...a lot. We have long needed a more common-sense approach to THAT issue, as well, and our consistent pro-Israel stance and censorship of the egregious actions of Israel has been disasterous. It can only change if we let the people know the truth and address the issue with recognition that there have been atrocities on both sides. Her mentality doesn't facilitate this in the least. This is something I didn't know about Wasserman-Schultz, and which changes my view of her enormously.

The lie that Obama wants Israel to go back to the old borders will never die, it's too convenient. Despite the fact that what he actually said is they should discuss the borders by STARTING OUT with the old borders and going from there, the lie will persist. Nonetheless, we do need to point it out every time someone tries to use it, so thank you Mike.

Hey Hardware, I propose we make all immigration illegal and backdate it to 1492. Oh then that would mean that all native peoples in the Americas would be legal since their ancestors passed through are stayed here. Then most Mexicans would be Americans and you would be deported. :-) A joke but just a thought!
