Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...
Quote:The Heritage Foundation announced the resignation Friday of senior policy analyst Jason Richwine, co-author of a controversial report critical of the Senate’s immigration reform bill. After Heritage issued the report this week, news articles pointed out that Richwine had argued in his Harvard dissertation that there was a long-standing difference between the IQ of white Americans and immigrants.Quote:Dr. Richwine landed in hot water after it was revealed that he had written a paper in 2009 entitled “IQ and Immigration Policy.” In this paper, Dr. Richwine makes the claim that Hispanic immigrants consistently demonstrate lower IQ scores, and that, “(d)espite built-in advantages, too many Hispanic natives are not adhering to standards of behavior that separate middle and working class neighborhoods from the barrio.” Dr. Richwine goes on to say that “the low average IQ of Hispanics is effectively permanent" and in which he states that Hispanic immigrants and their offspring will, in effect, never be as intelligent as “whites.” http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/05/11/update-heritage-foundation-analyst-resigns-amidst-controversy/] Heritage had said earlier that those views were not those of the foundation Friday afternoon’s announcement was part of an urgent damage control effort by the giant conservative think tank, which has come under unaccustomed criticism for {his recent} immigration report:Quote:Richwine co-authored the controversial immigration study released this week by the Heritage Foundation which argued that the immigration reform bill would cost $6.3 trillion, but which was widely panned by conservative groups as not accounting for the economic benefits of immigrants. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/05/10/jason-richwine-resigns-from-heritage-foundation/] Heritage said in a statement: “Jason Richwine let us know he’s decided to resign from his position. He’s no longer employed by Heritage. It is our long-standing policy not to discuss internal personnel matters.” Politico reported Thursday that the conservative think tank was already considering bringing in a high-profile public relations firm to manage fallout from the report. Doing so would be significant because the group generally relies on its own internal communications team. It would also indicate that the Heritage Foundation is seriously concerned about the potential damage to its reputation. A Republican operative who works on immigration reform suggested that the move might help the group stop a loss of support from donors. Despite criticisms from conservative groups and lawmakers, including Sen. Marco Rubio, the think tank is standing by its price estimate for immigration overhaul. http://www.politico.com/story/2013/05/heritage-immigration-expert-quits-91194.html#ixzz2T0ZWGaec Whatever brought it about, yet another obvious racist loses power and influence on the right, which can only be a good thing.
