Belmont Stakes: California Chrome jockey Victor Espinoza has
unfriendly record at Belmont Park

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/more-sports/chrome-rider-worried-bel
mont-record-article-1.1813629

"Chrome is undefeated since jockey Victor Espinoza began riding the colt on Dec. 22, winning six races by a combined 27 1/2 lengths, including the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes. But Espinoza’s record at Belmont Park could be cause for worry as the colt tries to become racing’s 12th Triple Crown winner in Saturday’s $1.5 million Belmont Stakes."

This is worrisome to me. A mile & a half ... the big test.

Affirmed won the last Triple Crown in 1978. His owner, Patrice Wolfson,
thinks Chrome will win it this year, "he just has something special."

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I always wonder what do they look like.

This was Affirmed

And this is California Chrome

My favorite was Barbaro - god rest his animal soul.

OONJERAH - We are too dumb to live and smart enough to wipe ourselves out.
"You, who live in any kind of comfort or convenience, do not know how these people can survive these things, do you? They will endure because there is no immediate escape from endurance. Some will die, the rest must live."

Ya prob'ly know that CC lost it.

He hurt his left front foot, not sure when. In the stretch he had just
enough to tie for 4th.
I do hope his racing career continues.

Here's the saddest part of the race: One of his owners, Steve Coburn,
just had to throw a tantrum, apparently blaming other owners who
hadn't worked their horses as hard.

This is horse racing, for Petes Sake! The class acts take losing as
gracefully as a win.

Part of being smart is knowing what you're dumb at.
