Quote:Don't worry, derailments and distractions prevent me from burning myself out. I've been making a point to the family that I HAVE to get out and do yardwork while the weather is conducive, and they get it. OTOH they seem not to take that into account when they ask me to do stuff for them, like handle investments or schedule contractors or order supplements or cook dinner. If I manage to chip out 4 hours a week for landscaping it's a big deal.
Quote:Since we already know what windows we want, the only thng left is to get that second bid and then decide on the contractor, and I've been bugging this contractor to get me that info. If not arriving by Tuesday, he's out of the picture and he knows it.
Quote:I HAVE been busy tho doing online searches/window shopping for the bathromm remodel bc we have to decide on the finish materials, and for me the big decisions are the shower floor tile, the wall tile, and the bahroom floor tile. I'm looking for a shower floor option that means minimal grout and minimum slip, and so far I'm not finding it.
Quote:And then there's the issue of color. It's a pretty dark bathroom, it has one tiny window that opens up to a breezeway and whatever natural light that filters in is a "cool" color. I think tones of gray (or blue) would look too "cold". Also, I like darker floors, and rooms with higher contrast between floor, furniture and walls (its a vision thing, it helps seeing what is where at a glance) so I'm thinking maybe darker brownish floor tile and a dark green furniture-style vanity (which I can re-finish myself) and cream subway tile walls and white quartz vanity top, tubs and (ofcourse) toilet. what do you think?

So just OOC how hot does your mini-heat wave get? We've been mostly around 70F highs. Great yardwork weather, if I could actually get out. ----------- "It may be dangerous to be America's enemy, but to be America's friend is fatal." - Henry Kissinger From what the weather was saying last night my area could reach 30C by Thursday which is 90F.

He also decided to take me off Metformin and Glipizide because I'm Type I, even though it's working with my exercise. I argued that, but he wants me to stop using it for 2 weeks and see what happens now that I'm active. He said that the Glipizide in particular can exhaust what's left of my pancreatic function. He also didn't have any referral for me. He wants ME to call a number given for a trial run for a new drug that has been approved recently by the FDA. I'm probably on my own for that one, although maybe I can get the Nutritionist and somebody on her team to help me out with it. Not very happy. Then it finally started raining, but 7 hours earlier than it should have, so I'm not going to be picking up all the rocks and pavers today since everything is beyond wet. I got my exhaust tubes. Maybe I'll go out and try getting them and the rest of the insulation installed today so it's not a complete bust. -------------------------------------------------- Growing up in a Republic was nice... But at least we're not totalling 16 Dr appts per month like we did one month this year already. So far, three appts this month, but I managed to double up two of them so it'll only be 2 drives, plus I have to drive sis in bc they don't want her driving after sedation. I think your doctor has done as much as any doctor can who's not conducting a clinical trial. Sometimes you just run to the end of the road with what best practices can do. And in order to (possibly!) get better results you're going to have to find a researcher. One area to look into is the association between Covid and Type I diabetes. Apparently the virus has latched into some people's beta cells and killed thode cells. FWIW the same has happened with the vaccine, but they both seem to be rare and dependent somehow on genes. The other possibility is that you inherited some sort of autoimmunity. Since your birth mom was dx with MS, (correct?) it could have come from her side of the family. It would be good to know your family's medical hx.

I got diabetes because Democrats wanted Trump out of office and worked with China to spread a super cold and a bum vaccine. I wonder if there's anybody I could sue for that since I never got the jab and I wouldn't be helpless because Big Pharma got immunity from lawsuits.
Quote:The one plus to my day was that my blood pressure keeps getting better every time I see somebody. Today it was 112/80. Before I got diabetes I never had a day under 135/95, and quite often it was more like 155/105.
Quote: I'm going to start reading up on Keto. I'm not going back to rapid-active insulin. I'm just going to un-learn everything the Nutritionist and her team taught me and figure out a way to live off of around 50 or 60 carbs per day. I'm already part-way there. I was told during the classes that I should be eating 180-200 grams of carbs per day. On my best day since those classes I had about 170 grams. Before I went to those classes, but after I had the continuous monitor at my disposal, I was getting less than 100 grams.

Before I was back on Metformin and Glipizide, I was dipping in the afternoon like I do now. My concern, now that he's taking me off of them, is that I'm going to start regularly seeing numbers above 200 while I'm sleeping again. And as soon as that starts happening I'm going to let him know that it is happening. Meanwhile, I'll get the name of that drug and tell you about it. I'm also going to try to get a different Endocrinologist and see if the DEC people can help me try to get on that trial. -------------------------------------------------- Growing up in a Republic was nice... SIX, you might catch some of that! But I can't figure out WHAT is burning. I went to maps looking for areas of serious drought. Yes, the plains provinces are suffering as are the martitime provinces, but Ontario and Quebec look mercifully free of drought. The smoke plume looks to be originating from wildfires burning in northern Quebec, but I'm not seeing any corresonding drought. I'm not eating any more except for what little is in the vegetables that are cooking now. I plan on going to sleep in the 90s and figuring out what I need to do to make that a thing going forward without risking dropping too low below the 70s before my dumbass liver starts dumping sugar that I don't need. Gotta fast, so the latest I can eat is around 1AM since I'm going to get my fasting blood work done before seeing the cardiologist tomorrow.

Two hours is about my limit for weeding and/or digging. I think I'm gonna get those surveyor stakes out tomorrow and start figuring out which way I need to regrade. I think I'm gonna start at the downspout and work my way outwards since everything is going to flow from there. Rough measuring the base of the tree mound, will need about 45' of rocks to stabilize the base. Really looking forward to getting into that and making some big changes in the yard. ----------- "It may be dangerous to be America's enemy, but to be America's friend is fatal." - Henry Kissinger
