China Caught Playing With Bioweapons Again

Quote:The U.S. Department of Justice is charging University of Michigan research fellow Yunqing Jian and her “boyfriend” Zunyong Liu, both citizens of the People’s Republic of China, with conspiracy, smuggling, false statements and visa fraud, but it’s not strictly a criminal complaint. The Chinese nationals smuggled in Fusarium graminearum, a toxic fungus that causes “head blight” disease on wheat, barley, and rice but there’s more to it. The fungus releases toxins that can cause vomiting, liver damage, and reproductive defects in livestock and humans. ... From the NML, Qiu shipped a cargo of deadly pathogens to the Wuhan lab, including strains of Ebola and Nipah viruses from Malaysia and Bangladesh. In 2017 and 2018, Qiu made at least five trips to the WIV. In 2019, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) escorted Qiu and Cheng from the NML, but no charges were filed. For all but the willfully blind, Qiu and Keding Cheng (who is probably not actually her husband) were Chinese agents from the start. Their operations took place under Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, an admirer of China’s “basic dictatorship,” but the United States has no room to point the finger. The U.S. once banned gain-of-function research, which makes viruses more lethal and transmissible. In 2019, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), funded that dangerous research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, off-limits to American oversight. Unlike Las Vegas, what happens at the WIV didn’t stay at the WIV. Dr. Nancy Messonnier, longtime director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), began her career with the CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS), a squad of “disease detectives’ tasked with preventing dangerous viruses from arriving on American soil. In early 2020, Dr. Messonnier conducted a series of press briefings on a “new virus,” a “novel coronavirus” that would “gain a foothold” and spread across the United States. Messonnier traced the origin to the “Wuhan market” but when asked about travel from Wuhan said she was “not at liberty” to discuss it. No word about who was laying down the rules, or how the new virus escaped notice of the intrepid EIS. The novel virus, most likely originating in the WIV, was vectored to the United States and around the world. Fauci took over as the government’s mouthpiece on COVID and Messonnier, hailed as a “true hero” by CDC director Rochelle Walensky, mysteriously retired in May 2021. Fauci, whose bio shows no degrees in molecular biology or biochemistry, maintained that the COVID virus arose naturally in the wild, a matter of speculation, not science. CDC director Robert Redfield, co-founder of the University of Maryland’s Institute of Human Virology, was open to the prospect that COVID originated in a lab. The CDC director was excluded from discussions on the origin of the virus and even received death threats. When other scientists spotted signs of a laboratory origin, Fauci smeared them as conspiracy theorists. The NIAID boss also claimed to represent science and charged that those who criticized him were attacking science itself. ... In similar style, the mysterious Qiu was never officially charged or held to account. She is now back in China, collaborating with researchers from the People’s Liberation Army, the folks who brought you Tiananmen Square. The PLA and their PRC bosses are doubtless behind the attempt of Yunquing Jian and her “boyfriend” to smuggle dangerous biological pathogens into the United States. In recent years, the U.S. provided plenty of encouragement to those attempting such actions. For Joe Biden, the Chinese Communists were “not bad folks,” and not even competition for the United States. On Biden’s watch, the PRC sent a massive surveillance balloon across the United States, with stops over strategic military bases. The Biden administration also let slide cases of Chinese “students” who were members of China’s military and guilty of visa fraud. That has all changed under Trump and Patel, who can still follow up on loose ends from the Fauci era. Joe Biden did not pardon former National Institutes of Health acting director Lawrence Tabak, who last year admitted that the NIH funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab. Consider also James LeDuc, former director of the Galveston National Laboratory (GNL), a project of Fauci’s NIAID, and a close collaborator with the Wuhan Institute of Virology. LeDuc maintained that the COVID virus arose naturally in the wild and “the Chinese just happened to be in the place where this was discovered.” Early on in the pandemic, he said “a conspiracy theory emerged,” claiming it was caused by a coronavirus from “a laboratory in Wuhan, a province in China.” LeDuc signed agreements with three Chinese labs, including the WIV, giving China the power to destroy “secret files, materials and equipment, without any backups.” The agreements applied to “all cooperation and exchange documents, data, details and materials,” were renewable every five years, and the confidentiality terms remain in force even after termination. Those agreements with China could explain why, in the style of Dr. Nancy Messonnier, LeDuc suddenly retired in 2021. LeDuc’s replacement at the GNL is Gary Kobinger, former head of the special pathogens biosafety program at Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory. Kobinger is a strong defender of Dr. Qiu and echoes her claim that it was all a misunderstanding. NIH director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, who recently sent Fauci allies packing, might have a chat with Kobinger. The American people wouldn’t want the Galveston National Laboratory to repeat the mistakes of Canada’s Microbiology National Laboratory. In 2025 moving forward, it’s all about memory against forgetting.
