It's Vox, so it's in every syllable of every word of every article, but in this particular article it doesn't get interesting until we get to this segment toward the end where they flat out state the lie that they've been building up to (it's the underlined bit)...

Quote:

Democrats shouldn’t plan their 2028 victory parties just yet

All this said, the outcomes of off-year gubernatorial elections are not a reliable guide to future political developments. A lot can happen between now and the midterms (let alone, between now and 2028).

Further — precisely because Democrats now have an advantage in lower turnout elections — Tuesday’s events might paint a misleadingly favorable picture of the party’s long-term prospects. When Democrats dominated 2023’s special elections, many in the party concluded that it was on track to beat Trump the following year. But this proved to be a mistake. The subset of voters who bothered showing up for off-year elections were simply much more Democratic than the electorate as a whole.

If we're not talking about Presidential elections, Democrats ALWAYS have the advantage in low-turnout elections. This is the case even in the deepest of red territories.

Republicans NEVER win special elections. Never. Point out one to me.

Hell... They don't turn out half the time for midterms. And forget about primaries. (Once again, this is why they put all the local BAD policy to a vote on off-year primary elections so they can keep doing things like raising our taxes and telling us we voted for it).

The intention of the writer here is to say "HEY! THIS TIME IT'S DIFFERENT! THIS OFF-YEAR ELECTION IS UNDENIABLE PROOF THAT REPUBLICANS AND ORANGE MAN BAD ARE ALREADY DEFEATED."

But they haven't offered any actual proof that any of it is true. They just say that it's different this time than all the other times Democrats won in off-year elections, but at the same time telling you that up until Tuesday night it was never the case that Democrats had an advantage in off-year elections.

How broken do Vox reader's brains have to be to swallow this shit and not puke it right back out?
