OZYMANDIAS

Hey y'all,
Hardy's post in the blue sun room about the Lcars menu in the infirmary jogged my memory about this. Did anyone else notice that the alliance gear worn in "the train job" was exactly the armor that was worn in startship troopers? Did joss get a budget deal on some surplus SS armor or what? The only change was the purple paint on the stomach plate (hence the nick-name "purplebellies"). So am I full of crap or am I right here?

And Melkor fled before the laughter of Tulkas, and hated him ever after

Actually, you're right, it is the same armor, and if you listen to the commentary on the episode, you'll hear them say that they did, in fact, get a deal on the costumes from the rental place.

That's the end of the signifigance, however--there's no other connection between the Alliance and the Mobile Infantry from "Starship Troopers" at all.

I noticed that. Recognized the helmets.

Know where else I've seen 'em? Power Rangers In Space (first episode; apparently one of the Space Rangers was a soldier before he got the spandex). Yeah, that's right, ruttin' Power Rangers uses the same costume shop.
