I duuno if there's a thread like this around, I haven't seen it.
I was wondering (when it finally comes out - how could you do this to us, Universal? How?!) whether you were goin' to sing anything while waiting in the cinema/theater for the movie to start?
-Ballard of Serenity
-Hero of Canton
-A favourite FILK
-Some other song

--------------------------------------------------
SAFFRON: "Durran... This isn't what it looks like..."
MAL: "Unless it looks like we're stealing your priceless Lassiter, 'cause that's what we're doing. Don't ask me about the gun, though, 'cause that's new."
DURRAN: "Well. I appreciate your honesty. Not, you know, a lot, but --"

GWENHARKER

Oh-ho. My group of friends that I've converted so far and I will be standing in the front of the theater singing the Theme Song and possibly Hero of Canton seeing if we can get some browncoats in the crowd... Maybe ask trivia...

Damn I hope for midnight showings.

NEDWARD

Amazing Grace is the only other song from canon that comes to mind. Although if that's in the BDM, we're in for big damn character death!

If only we could figure out what song it was that Simon was singing during that drunken revelry he told Kaylee about in OiS. . .

ZOID

"We Are The Champions", Queen

Fits -- if somewhat obliquely -- since AT was in "A Knight's Tale". The song was the closing theme for that movie, although it was a version featuring that lame-oid Robbie Williams, instead of the incomparable Frederick Bulsara (who unfortunately was unavailable, due to a previous engagement with Eternity).

Tunefully,

zoid

What about U2's 'Beautiful Day'?
The lyrics sorta fit with Mal's character. It'll also be a 'beautiful day' when it's finally released. There's even a mention of China! :D

The heart is a bloom, shoots up through the stony ground
but there's no room, no space to rent in this town
You're out of luck, and the reason that you had to care
the traffic is stuck, and you're not moving anywhere
You thought you'd found a friend, to take you out of this place
someone you could lend a hand in return for grace
It's a beautiful day. (day . . .)
The sky falls, and you feel like
it's a beautiful day. (day . . .)
Don't let it get away
You're on the road, but you've got no destination
You're in the mud, in the maze of her imagination
You love this town, even if that doesn't ring true
you've been all over, and it's been all over you
It's a beautiful day (day . . .)
don't let it get away
It's a beautiful day. (day . . .)
hoo . . hoo . . . hoo
Touch me
take me to that other place
Teach me . . . oh
I know I'm not a hopeless case.
See the world in green and blue
see China right in front of you
see the canyons broken by cloud
see the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
see the Bedouin fires at night
see the oil fields at first light, and
see the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colours came out
(day . . .)
It was a beautiful day (day . . .)
don't let it get away
Beautiful day (day . . .)
Touch me
take me to that other place
Reach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case
What you don't have, you don't need it now
What you don't know, you can feel it somehow
What you don't have, you don't need it now
don't need it now . . .
[It] Was a beautiful day

GEEZER

Keep the Shiny side up

This song popped into my head the moment I saw the thread topic.

Space Cowboy - Steve Miller Band

I told you ’bout living in the u.s. of a.
Don’t you know that I’m a gangster of love
Let me tell you people that I found a new way
And I’m tired of all this talk about love
And the same old story with a new set of words
About the good and the bad and the poor
And the times keep on changin’
So I’m keepin’ on top
Of every fat cat who walks through my door

I’m a space cowboy
Bet you weren’t ready for that
I’m a space cowboy
I’m sure you know where it’s at
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I was born on this rock
And I’ve been travelin’ through space
Since the moment I first realized
What all you fast talkin’ cats would do if you could
You know, I’m ready for the final surprise
There ain’t no way around it
Ain’t nothing to say
That’s gonna satisfy my soul deep inside
All the prayers and surveyors
Keep the whole place uptight
While it keeps on gettin’ darker outside

I’m a space cowboy
Bet you weren’t ready for that
I’m a space cowboy
I’m sure you know where it’s at
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I see the show downs, slow downs, lost and found, turn arounds
The boys in the military shirts
I keep my eyes on the prize, on the long fallen skies
And I don’t let my friends get hurt
All you back room schemers, small trip dreamers
Better find something new to say
Cause you’re the same old story
It’s the same old crime
And you got some heavy dues to pay

I’m a space cowboy
Bet you weren’t ready for that
I’m a space cowboy
I’m sure you know where it’s at
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I've always had a special place in my heart for LuxLucre's "The Ballad of Firefly" and "Serentiy". Everyone knows the tune, they are instant crowd pleasers.

YT

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

BADGERSHAT

I'm thinking that I might carry a boom box (aka the "Ghetto Blaster") with me, and crank Pantera's "Cowboys From Hell" to 11. I won't sing it, because I have too much testosterone to allow my voice to reach the high pitches Phil Anselmo manages...

Kinda works, and is also almost kinda sorta nearly funny for our favorite crew... maybe not...

CEPHME

The Highwayman
Johny Cash

I was a highwayman. Along the coach roads I did ride
With sword and pistol by my side
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade
The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five
But I am still alive.

I was a sailor. I was born upon the tide
And with the sea I did abide.
I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed
But I am living still.

I was a dam builder across the river deep and wide
Where steel and water did collide
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound
But I am still around..I'll always be around..and around and around and
around and around

I fly a starship across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again..

Personally, I think you're all missing the point....

Why are we singing songs at Serenity's premiere? (Well, we will anyhow, especially the Ballad of Serenity, but...)

Why not plan on singing these (in browncoats or browncoat tee shirts at least) at the EpIII premiere? Any time you're gathered in a movie theatre in front of a "Serenity" poster? And of course, as soon as possible (and at a time that won't get you removed forcibly from the theatre) after you see the "Serenity" trailer"!!!

I think we need to start earlier than at the premiere on these....or I could just be space happy, who knows (I think the Holiday spirit is catching up with me....."Everybody sing...!"

"We gotta go to that crappy town where I'M a hero..."
