What do I see when I first load the board today?

I'll tell you: The festive "decoration" at the top of the board itself. I thought it was a great touch, and marveled at how there was no post about it, so I am starting one.

We outta thank Haken for brightening up the board for the holidays! Good Job!!!!!

This is a great site,
Firefly has become my very favorite show
(even tho it isn't on...and we have to wait for 'Serenity')
and this site has become my favorite message board
I love discussing the show, I could do it forever
and I love anticipating the movie...
and I really appreciate all the artwork, fan fic,
and other fun things Haken allows us to put here.

THANK YOU HAKEN!
AND HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS,
AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I always love a good opportunity to thank Haken for all that he does for me. Thanks Haken for this site. It keeps me happy every day. You are so much better at making a site than anyone else I know... not to mention the fact that you never charge us for anything.
This site always gets better.
It holds no bias.
It grieves for the downtrodden.
It nourishes my soul.

I am a new convert to Firefly, and I think this is the best site I've ever been on. It's put together and organized so well, it's easy to use, the community is great, and you can discuss whatever your heart desires here. Thank you, thank you Haken from a newbie Browncoat. (Plus, the Christmas lights are a nice touch.)

Packer fans welcome.
All others tolerated.

Hear, hear! Haken deserves extreme kudos for one of the best designed, easiest to use web sites I've ever had the pleasure to use. The courtesy features on these discussion threads alone (IE, E-mail notification when someone replies to your posts, the emoticons, and a simple, extremely intuitive posting system), have spoiled me.

I don't think Browncoats would be the tight-knit community they are without this site. Thanks again Haken.

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=8205 , "Hey Haken", December 9.
And, if that one's too obscure, there's
http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=5&t=8206 , "Wow, Christmas lights", December 10.

But, aside from those two, you may be right.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I have always thought that Haken's site was the best FF site, bar none. That of course is why I am here most often.

Love the lights Haken. Christmas in the 'Verse. Shiny!

You jest, but the Elves' Union filed a grievance against work conditions with the NLRB, and OSHA perforce did an inspection of North Pole workshops and found them to be "dangerously overcrowded". The owner-operator, a Mr. K. Kringle (alias: S. Claus or simply "Father Christmas") remains incommunicado, but was issued a cease and desist order until Federal safety requirements -- no more than 5 elves per bench, not more than 10 benches per shop, properly marked fire exits and extinguishers -- were completely satisfied.

Mr. Kringle promptly closed the North Pole shop and moved his entire operation to Thailand, where there is an infinitesimal Elf population, but a sizeable work force of 5-year olds, which are roughly the same size as the Elves. This meant 'S. Claus' could reuse his existing employee uniforms. Since there is, as yet, no 5-year old workers' union, this means that Christmas will not only be on time, but at a significant profit to its shareholders.

The picture for the North Pole economy is not so rosy, however, with all the suddenly redundant Elves standing in soup lines...

P.S.
Does anybody else think the phrase 'suddenly redundant' sounds like a good title for a sitcom? It'd only be funny if you have a job, of course; but, we really needn't overly concern ourselves with the sensitivities of the unemployed, right? I mean, it's not like they have televisions, or homes to put them in, or -- most importantly -- money to spend on the sponsors' products. Happy Christmas!

P.P.S.
Oops! Thank you for all you do, Haken. You're our union-approved Father Christmas! (I know you ran those Christmas lights past OSHA, right?)
