the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

One Trick Pony (only on VHS)
Baja Oklahoma (only on VHS)
Edge of Darkness (only on VHS in USA & Canada; DVD in Britain, but I don't wanna pay the freight)
Blade Runner, theatrical release version (that also means widescreen)
das Boot, theatrical release version (that also means widescreen)
I have the preceding two on Laserdisc but, along with video that no longer satisfies, one of these days my Laserdisc player is gonna die.
Maximum Bob (short-lived (six episodes?) TV series based on some characters, including the title character, from Elmore Leonard's novel)

I wuz also gonna add the Lone Gunmen, but thought I'd check on 'em agin. Gonna be released in May, so I preordered it.

Thank you, StillShiny. If not for this thread, I'm not sure I would've check on Lone Gunmen before the release date. So, along with the fun we've all had, thinking about our answers & readin' others, you minimized my wait.

ECGORDON

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Of what's available out there, my want list would be way too long to post here. As for some things not yet on dvd, I would like to have...

Complete series sets of:
American Gothic
Brimstone
Dark Skies
My World and Welcome To It

...along with a PBS production from the early '80s, John Malkovich and Gary Sinise in a filmed version of the Sam Shepard stage play "True West."

...and from earlier than that, in fact even pre-dating PBS, there was a NET Playhouse production of a compilation of Kurt Vonnegut characters and situations entitled "Between Time and Timbuktu."

I'd give anything to see those two shows again.

Well heck, if we're gonna go ancient, I'd wish for
the Richard Boone Theatre (repertory series from the 60s). And that reminds me of
Scene of the Crime (repertory series created, produced & introduced by Stephen Cannell, 1990)

And that ain't so ancient. Steve says there are no plans yet to produce a DVD of it, but ya never know.

Thanks, Scar,

Due South is out on DVD. However it's very expensive for not very many discs.

Due South was a great show. I wish Netflix had the dvds. Oh well. Hopefully someday.

- Adventures of Brisco County Jr

- Space Above & Beyond

- Wonderfalls

- All 3 Serenity movies

- Lost

- The Shield

TERRYO

Isn't nice seeing Alberta Watson on 24?

Well, a few years ago I would have agreed with you but maybe Peter Jackson could have a go at it. :-) Of course, if Joss ever got bored, he would be perfect.

The thing is that I love Miles and his Barrayaran (sp??) universe but trying to get my friends to read a whole series, most of the time it doesn't happen. DVDs are a different story, no pun intended.

With the point the series is at, and the author doing another universe, I don't think it would hurt the books we know and love. It's just a franchise waiting to happen {g}

Miles Vorkosigan ROCKS! But for all those books that I absoutely love...I wonder if a movie would be good for it. It could never be done the way you'd want it...

Just as a minor update, if anyone's interested, I was bored so I did up my initial thoughts about an ideal (for me) Angel Seasons 6 and 7 at: http://www.livejournal.com/users/newnumber6/134725.html

Especially considering the only things on the other two discs are documentaries about the history, & a book that outlines the particular interpretation of history used in the film. Not a lot, and looked to me like it would easily fit on one more DVD (instead of two more).

Notwithstanding the above, the Collectors' edition is available from Amazon Canada http://www.amazon.ca , listing for $31.41 Cdn. This may look like a good deal, but you will pay taxes on it and, if you have it shipped out of Canada, you will also pay shipping, even if your order might otherwise qualify for free shipping. So, it will cost you @least $32 US. But this is a magnificent film. If I didn't already have the single-disc edition, it would be worth it to me.

Thanks for the heads up... $32 is about HALF of what it costs on Amazon US (not including other sellers through Amazon).

Silent Hill - The Movie (Optioned and Filming, I hear...)

The Prisoner - Entire series (it's british, surreal, and verrry strange, y'all would love it.)
Yes, Oz, someone else here has heard of it and likes it...

Dave Drake's LT Leary series, or even The Fleet, as a TV Series.

Space Rangers entire season, maybe more than one ? (Promising Firefly-ish series bungled and canned by CBS, not to mention vaporized by Babylon5 and DS9)

The entire Merry Melodies collection, every episode, even, no especially! the ones Tipper wanted banned.

Annnnd...
I can't believe no one entertained this thought already...

A full 2.5 hour DVD of the Fox Executive board of directors being slowly tortured to death, now THERE is some 'reality-tv' that would get ratings, ehe ?

For those that actually exist..

A deep desire finish up my Jossverse collection, which grows quite slowly on my student's lack of income.

Buffy, seasons 4-7
Angel, seasons 1-5

Farscape, seasons 1-4 and PK Wars
Wonderfalls
Alias, seasons 1-3

And for the one that doesn't exist:
Pretender.
I'm desperate for a release of my first -ever obsession on DVD, and slightly bitter that they exist in France. ;)

Well, if it were a realistic reality-TV show, one of its ratings would ensure cable-only release. Mebbe even straight to DVD.

But the special features could be real special.

For DVD's I wish I had that are either out now or will be shortly,

Star Trek: The Original Series-Season 1
Star Trek: The Original Series-Season 2
Star Trek: The Original Series-Season 3
The Twilight Zone-Season 1 (The Definitive Edition)
Leon the Professional: Deluxe Edition
Batman: The Animated Series-Vol 2
Raging Bull: SE
The Commitments: SE

As for dream DVD's, I'm just waiting for when the Criterion Collection releases a packed 2 disc edition of Terry Gilliam's underrrated masterpiece THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN. Also, I'd like to see a DVD release of another incredible tv show that was screwed over called WONDERLAND. And maybe the second season of BOOMTOWN.

I'd like to pick up the STAR WARS movies on DVD, but I'm just waiting until all six of them are available in one big box set in 2007.
