I am not sure, so um, sorry.
But I think I recall when the release was still set for April, that there was to be a Serenity trailer before Elektra. So, maybe one good thing came out of the move, ya think?

It's going to be attached to Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which I believe will be released May 6th (or close). I haven't heard of any release over the web as of yet, which sucks.

But HGttG is a hell of a lot better of a movie to be previewed before than Elektra. A shitload more people, and I think Douglas Adams fans would really enjoy Serenity. Of course, everyone would really enjoy Serenity. Except the terminally stupid. Or FOX execs. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm repeating myself.

Oooh, that's right! I forgot it was gonna be with Hitchhikers. Sad thing is my wife has zero interest in seeing HHGTTG. So I'm gonna have to go with my brother or my folks.

I actually sorta wanted to see that movie. I've never read the book but it's supposedly a classic or some such.

But in my quest to stay spoiler free I'm going to have to pass until the movie hits video.

I, too, am trying (somewhat unsuccessfully) to remain spoiler-free. But there ain't a power in the 'verse to keep me out of the theater come HHGttG's release. I highly suggest picking the book(s) up - everything before Mostly Harmless (book 5 or 6) is brilliant.

Plus, I assume Joss had some control over the trailer - it won't give away the entire movie.

I'm going to have to go the route of judging the book by the movie on this one. I have a friend who's opinion I respect pretty well say that the book was just too out there to make it readable. Just basically a bunch of crazy things happening.

Books that make me laugh are usually 95% serious with 5% humour. It's the change of pace that makes me laugh. From my friend's description this isn't that type of book.

Maybe I'll make an effort to go to the movie late or something so that I'll miss the trailers.

I get the towel and slippers, but why the blacked out glasses? Was it a reference to a part of the book(s) I missed?

Also, just out of curiosity, what happened in the books after THE RESTAURANT AT THE END OF THE UNIVERSE? I stopped reading after the second book, so I'm a little lost as to what happened afterwards.

The theory is if you can't see the danger than it's not dangerous.

For example: you have to climb down the side of a building. It's a bit frightening to look down to your death, so you put the glasses on and voila! no more seeing the ground several hundred feet below you. Just keep climbing until your feet hit ground, take off glasses, and smile at the great climb you just had.

The Hitchhiker's novels are NOT traditional novels. There's really no other way to describe it. No one but Adams could get away with publishing them, and reading about how he missed ten deadlines on Hitchhiker's and was just told to turn in what he had makes me wonder how it ever made it to novel form. (it was, of course, originally a radio drama).

If you are unsure about reading the books (none of which are really that long), check out the BBC miniseries, now on DVD. It covers the first two books in the series extremely well.
