There is a special hell reserved for those that would take a cartoon Icon and turn them into something so ridiculous.

I hope they take the express shuttle to the special hell.

Well Cartoons often evolve over time. Bugs has been evolving since he was first created. The original is totally different to the one I'm familiar with of the sixties and seventies... So I don't think it's that big a deal.

When he started his eyes were a lot bigger and his mouth was a lot wider... But over time they've refined him to what we know and love - He's never had a definitive design from the start.

Same with Tom and Jerry. They were very different when the were first created. I seem to remember Tom was a dark muddy colour to begin with.

It all depends in what era you grew up watching them.

That said I don't particulalry like the look of the new design - but then it's maybe what the kids want these days.

Who knows.

That's just disgusting. Laser eyes and martial arts? What is wrong with the executives these days.

The reason TV ratings are dying is because there are no more classics on TV anymore. There's no Family Ties or Cosby show or anything that even compares. Sad sad sad.

They pretty much did what all the other studios did--they looked at what other people did that was successful, and copied it.

Seems to me, there's a huge similiarity, VISUALLY, between this new "re-imagining" and some of the stuff on Cartoon Network, like "Samurai Jack" and others like it.

Ba$ically, they're looking to increa$e the appeal of the exi$ting franchi$e$ by updating the face$ for new generation$ to come.

I think that recycling Bugs and his cohorts is pretty bad, really they should just introduce a new group of characters. Also the name Buzz Bunny is a bad idea. There's already Buzz Lightyear, hullo!?

On behalf of The Samurai, I feel compelled to point out that those shows are actually innovative, and good.

As, in all honesty, is Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2 Century. Why can't they just shoehorn Bugs and the others into that?

Let me be the one to say that I have little love for Looney Tunes (due in large part to Teletoon's devoting over 72 hours a week to them ), but this. . . This is just derivative, insulting, and stupid, and. . . just wrong.

I'm with Snark. Samurai Jack is a really good cartoon. Great story and really impressive art, especially for a cartoon. Stylized, yes, but, well, stylishly so. I wish Cartoon Network, a Time WARNER(as in the Brothers) would devote a little more time in their daytime line up to classic Looney Tunes. Lots of garbage like Ozzy and Drix, the cartoon spin off of the movie Osmosis Jones. Which royally sucks, whereas the movie was at least tolerable.

And for the love of Pete, can someone in cahoots with AOL Time Warner PLEASE get them to put the Animaniacs back on the air somewhere? That show was amazingly brilliant. And maybe Hysteria too. Even Tiny Toons. Or Taz-Mania. Those were 'new' and 'cool' without making utter poo-doo of the characters.

Now, now, this too shall pass. While I think the "Buzz" idea blows major goatage, it may not be the worst thing that's happened to Bugs - wasn't he pressed into service to do hygiene films and ranting anti-Nazi, anti-"Jap" stuff in WWII? Anyone who's seen "Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarfs" knows that Warner has done things not to be proud of.

I'm guessing this silliness will blow over like when Heinz tried to interest kids in green ketchup. (That didn't catch on, did it?)

Well, I've never considered anything sacred. Some fans of the old Battlestar Galactica will never accept the new, even though I consider it one of the best scifi shows around (firefly is still numero uno though). I'm glad the creators of the new BSG didn't consider it sacred and untouchable. I'm just saying I actually judge a show after I watch it rather than speculating from snippets and what not. I actually don't believe they are trying to replace the old with the new. They are just trying something different with familiar characters. It may fall on its face but I will wait to pass judgement.

I as well love the new BSG. The acting is better than anything I've seen in a long time, effects are better than anything I've seen... you get the idea.

I'm not saying that they can't touch Bugs and the gang. I'm just saying that since there is a long standing "what they are," they can't do certain things. I believe that some of those certain things is entirely re-inventing the character. Which is what they've done here.

IMO, if you are going to re-invent a character to the degree found here, then just invent a new one. Which could've been easily done given the radical new context (relitively speaking), etc.

I've also never stated that this show will suck. I've only stated that they should never have done what they've done to these characters. There is a difference.

You stated, "...probably just a Flash file..."

Well perhaps you should've actually viewed it yourself before asking such a question. If you would've, you would know that it is a .mov that is a commercial for the show. This is far from just some flash file.

I, like you, (although I would think that you wouldn't think this given your comments toward me) will not pass judgement on the show. I just pass judgement [n]on the people who made the horror of a decision (IMO) to do the horrible things to these characters and what they have done to these characters. Again, there is a difference.

You know. . .you're right in one way, but in another. . .it would be like doing a show that features a blonde-haired teenage/early college age girl who, through the use of martial arts, kills WEREWOLVES, and name her "Muffy".

Or a crew of interplanetary smugglers led by a guy who wears a long BLACK coat and his name is "Hal Reynolds".

So? Muffy may be Buffy's long lost auntie and Hal may be Mal's Daddy!

The original 'Bugs'and crew are still there - and on DVD even - unmolested. The "new show" changes nothing of the past Loony Toons - they are even changing the 'global' name to 'Loonitics' {however it is spelled}. The nay-sayers are still prejudging and appear very narrow-minded.

Point is this: Someone else OWNS the rights to the characters and whatnot - they have the right to do with it as they want. Want something to stay the same - buy it and insure NOONE else has any rights to the subject in any form of media...

{example: Brian Henson and his sister bought back ALL of Henson Production items for the hefty tune of 84mil}

...wait, could that be considered a tad akin to censorship?

BSG 2003 went the right direction - we can only hope 'Loonitics' follows it on that higher road.

I think some folks like to get their pants in a twist over minor things to spice up their day!
