Merci beaucoup, Fredep...

The pic answers the question whether it's available online or not. I'll have to get to a magazine seller's and read the whole article, to see which are the other Top 5 nominees (and why).

Y'know, fire sprinklers aren't usually very sturdy. . .

Which would be right in keeping with Joss' style of comedy, come to that.

1st time I glanced at it, I thought she was holding onto a hunting knife or dagger which was stuck into the ceiling. Sure looks like a sprinkler to me too. Also, her right foot is being braced by that pipe.....either way, it's still wicked cool. Having said that, I sure hope what River's wearing doesn't make it to the fashion world -

Are you sure that's Entertainment Weekly? I have a subscription to it, and the font and lay-out of the magazine don't match. I think this is out of Premiere magazine. Either way, it's a nice blurb about the film as well as an interesting shot of River. Not sure why's she's dressed all in green and with the butcher smock. Actually creeps me out, a bit.

I just like that last quote by Joss. "You're treated with such respect and generosity. I am confused and frightened by this."

Well Joss, from one budding filmmaker to another, welcome to the world of feature film directing.

It's an EW supplement called 'Look'. Apparently a 'limited' run of 300,000 was printed and sent out to some EW subscribers. At least according to a post on the OB from someone who called EW asking why they didn't get their copy.

Which issue was that? My subscription to the magazine is almost up (got so tired of the damn invoices asking for more money when I had already sent them enough checks as it was), and I'd like to get it before they stop sending me mags. Especially if I can't get it if I just buy it off the rack.

I would imagine they'd be sturdy enough for this task. Most sprinklers are connected to braced water pipe. I couldn't hang from it without bustin' the ceiling; but, Summer's what? A buck-twenty in winter gear?

I just don't think it's a very good hiding place unless the ceiling's 15-20 feet high and everybody's looking at their feet (terrifying space monkeys on the loose?). Still, it makes great use of Summer's balletic skills...

Respectfully,

zoid

P.S.
On the other hand, maybe she just enjoys hanging from ceilings?

All I know is damn she's nimble/strong/lithe enough to do that. Also it depends on where she is and how dark the hallway is. I'm sure it was lighted in picture processing to see her, Kinda like Jubal.

That's dang shiny news right there. Serenity's moving up on the hollywood radar I guess. Just means we have to work even harder to make the movie a success cause now people are watching. So convert even faster people. We need that #1 spot for a few weekes.

TENTHCREWMEMBER

Could you please just make it stranger? Stranger. Odder. Could be weirder. More bizarre. How about uncanny?

Hey, if they live in a 'Verse where they terraform planets, have fusion engines, holographic imagers, and guns like Vera, then they sure as hell can have sprinklers that don't bust out of the ceiling when 100 lb. ballerinas use them to balance between pipes.

And even if it couldn't happen, hell, I wouldn't care! It is a nice twist on the "spread eagle" style you always see in jail in the movies.

omg, no kidding. I'm really interested to find out why she's wearing a wetsuit, some rain sheeting, computer chips, and one of those little chains that hooks the pen to the desk at banks.

And to the person who asked about the other movies on the list:

1) i can't remember
3) Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy
4) Running With Sicissors (spelled wrong, i know.)(This movie, by the way, is based on a FABULOUS book by the same name that everybody has to read)
5) Ms. Congeniality 2

ShinyMom here,

This was my first post. I didn't know about links and such.
The #1 movie is Fever Pitch, a soccer movie starring Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon. I've never heard of it.

Also, the magazine just came to me out of the blue. I like it so much better than Entertainment Weekly and not just for obvious reasons.

Thanks for all the extra info. I'm learning.

Look at all the pretties.

Fever Pitch is about baseball not soccer. Fallon is an obsessed Red Sox fan who has to choose between the Sox or Drew Barrymore. There's no reason whatsoever it should be listed above Serenity. Silly, silly people.

Now we have to be married. I'm in the family way.

My source *thought* it was WotW, but wasn't solid on that. Something about because it has Tom Cruise, and well..it's Tom Cruise ( what ever that's suppose to mean ) And that Spielberg fella...I hear he's pretty good.

I see a number of people wondering about River's getup. Personally, I thought the implication was obvious, but I'll spell it out anyway. This is all speculation, mind, so take it as you will.

Select to view spoiler:

I'm guessing that the outfit is some sort of medical thing. It looks like teched-out hospital garb, with some Matrix-style plugs at the major muscle groups. Also, note what looks like a fresh cut on one arm, and the general sickly-green hospital pallet of the shot.

I'm guessing this is a flashback to River's daring escape from the "Academy," and that the costume has something to do with the types of experiments being done.

Possibly those "plugs" are electrodes, maybe part of some sort of electro-stimulation (read "shock therapy/torture") of her muscle groups, aimed at increasing strength and motor control. Or maybe they're sensors, similar to the sticker-like cardio sensors that hospital patients are frequently wired up with.

OK what is the exact category for this Top 5 list? It's obviously not Best Top 5 upcoming movies. It must be something like movies that might be good, but are flying under the radar or something. Cause there isn't anything that would be main stream blockbuster style on there.

Could be, but here's my $0.02 worth......

Select to view spoiler:

I agree that River's get up looks like some sort of strange patient garb, but a few things lead me away from it being a flashback.

1. The afore mentioned cut on the arm. Not a major wound, but still, that should have still been visible when Mal woke her up out of cryo.
2. She's looking pretty bad-ass in that photo. Makes me think that she's finding out more of what she can do, that her powers are being discovered, which would indicate to me that it's later in the time line, not earlier.
3. Along the same lines as #2, but another point. I don't get the impression that River was all that instrumental in her own rescue. The way I see it, Simon had some 'inside' help, with River having been delivered to him.

Of course, if she IS in some sort of patient wear, and it's NOT a flashback, then the unthinkable has happened and the hands of blueguys have recaptured her, and she's attempting to re-escape. Or something.
