ASTRIANA

Hey all!

Just got a call from ShinyHappyKlin's hubby. She's fine. She's still at the hospital (for insurance purposes), but they've done the catheter thing and all is well. She had a 99% blockage and a nurse said that if it'd been any other doctor, they probably would've been talking about doing a bypass because of the placement of the block - but instead, she's just got 3 stints, and is going to be fine.

She's going to be home all this week, except for her class on Saturday (which she can't get out of), but (according to Hubby) she's probably not going to make the meeting, since she's not really supposed to be up and about at that point.

Send her your love and well wishes...

~Astriana~

Me neither. I'm guessing this was brought up in a shindig/get-together thread that I've been ignoring 'cause I can't go anyway.

SHINYHAPPYKLIN

Hi all, Yep, I'm home and doing fine.

Like Astri said, 3 coronary artery stents, just dodged a bypass (EEK!), and I am now one of those people you see on the commercials...Lipitor, Plavix, etc., etc....Christ, I never thought this would happen to me! And worst of all, It happened AFTER I lost weight and changed my diet...you just never know, I guess.

Oh, what happened is that I had been having exercise-induced chest pain for about 6 months (I knew something was wrong when I couldn't do even 1 mile walking, when I usually did 3-5 miles 2-3x a week). Finally got decent insurance from grad school, went to get everything checked out, and with my lipids being a little high, having mildly elevated BP, and the symptoms, the Dr. at the clinic decided to send me on a cardiac consult...glad he took me seriously and did! Last Friday, I had a nuclear stress test and echocardiogram, which both came up abnormal, showing an area of the heart which wasn't getting blood.

Anyhow, starting to get back to normal, have to stay on the drugs for about 6 months or so, longer if I can't get the numbers down with diet and exercise. At least we caught it when it was treatable!

SHK,

I am really glad to hear you are doing okay. You had us worried there for awhile. By the way, you are not allowed to do that ever again.

Autumn was asking about you, so I will pass the news along to here too. She wanted to let you know she will be judging the Klingon pageant again this year. Eric just got her added to the Trek Trak page.

Take care of yourself. See you soon!

I had no idea that you were in the hospital. I'm so glad that you're OK! That heart stuff can really sneak up on you, have a friend here who had a similar situation. You just never know what can happen.
Shiny recovery to you!

Man, it's so good to hear that you're out of the hospital and that you caught it in time.

Scary stuff.

My family's thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery are with you.

Wow! SO glad to hear you caught it in time! A pulled muscle, a toothache, those you might ignore and hope they go away, NOT your heart!

Here's adding my hopes and prayers to a speedy recovery.
