I second that - especially as it's my first con. Don't want to be too overwhelmed!!

(Just arranged to build another website - that's my ticket paid for! Just need another couple to cover all that money I'll spending there!)

"Why would I want to leave Serenity?"
"Can't think of a reason."

I actually paid for it with Switch so maybe that's why. I'll have to check whether it was debited this week.

I'm still waiting to order my ticket for the con as I wanted to wait to hear about whether any Serenity guests will be appearing at LFACC3. That event would be much more convenient for me to attend but nothing has been announced as of yet.

I think Sean Maher, Summer(?) & Christina Hendricks are up for coming (someone correct me if I`m wrong) & possibly Adam (although work may interfere again?)

who`s left - Gina & Joss?? It would be absolutely spiffing if they would honour us (now there`s a word you don`t use everyday!)

p.s. Tried to book my ticket today but it was busy, busy, busy - will ring tomorrow, whilst I`m out photographing more steam locomotives

Adam would be sooooo coool, or at least visually stimulating.

I would bet a large amount of money Joss won't come though, although i think i would actually get him to sign something if he did (seriously shocking for little old me), possibly whilst offering a burnt sacrifice and chanting...

I think he will e quite difficult to tie down to any convention, but `Q` might do, but hyperthetically speaking, I wouldn`t want to go just for Adam and then find out Adam couldn`t make it (although I`m sure tey would find a great guest or 2 like they did for the recent Serenity Con - Mark Shepherd, Ron Glass & of course Chris Buchanan.

During Quortoth (sp?), the Inside will be on hiatus, so Adam wouldn't be working. Though now they've moved the premiere date to June 8th, I'm not sure how it'll work.

Hi Flo,

I`ll be there at Serenity2 - booked today - I`m probably going to come down on Saturday though, not sure about hotel with the expenses so far, if not I`ll be commuting the 2 days :( I won`t be paying out as much as I have for this con but I still want some money left to spend on things.

I`m seeing about Stewarding - I have asked if it would be feasable considering my commuting to the con.

Darin (Zol.)

p.s. I didn`t ask you, but, did you get a ticket for the meet`n`greet? or had they gone at the Serenity Con before you got your ticket?

I have a meet and greet ticket: n°170 and I think they stopped the meet and greet at 175. Phew!

I will be stewarding and already put my name down on the list.

And I'm already thinking about costume for the Alan Tudyk night :)

I wasn`t sure about going when the tickets were still low in number, but at least I`ll be there - I`m still deciding how to keep the cost down and still enjoy myself.

When I had an email about the stewarding I was asked for my registration number - what's that all about? I wasn't given a ref number when I booked my ticket.

They will take everyone and anyone - and the more who sign up the better it will be.

Did anyone mention you get priority seating in the talks, able to jump the queues(as long as you are on duty when your autographs or photo sessions are due) and then there`s the rest of the stewards too.

I was hoping at Serenity that there would be a small room set aside so that Stewards could chill out and mellow away from the crowds - it wasn`t the case, and probably they just wanted the stewards to mingle with the crowds anyway :)

Hmmm, I believe I was aware of that....! But perks aside, I'd still love to do it anyway as a way of meeting people and really getting the feel for the convention.

I just felt a bit of an idiot because I was sent this list of questions about stewarding and had to keep answering "never", "no", "no again"! Let's just say if it was an exam I'd have failed... I've got experience in helping organise other large events so hope that will convince them thay can't do without me!

Edited to add: just heard I'm on the list. Horray

You shouldn't be worried, I'm sure you'll be able to steward. They don't give much info before you actually get to the con, so be warned.

At the Serenity con, they told us they didn't set a limit to the number of stewards, because it allows us stewards to have less to do and enjoy the con more, which is great!

It was my first con (so obviously my first time stewarding) and they gave me a pretty easy job.

Actually the Bollywood thing got me too unless one of the guests has done a cmaeo or could it be Summer used to do Belly Dancing (NO! Sorry! Don`t go there, we`ll set PhysicRiver off on one )

My problem is cash & enjoyment - I`m a prvate perosn, so don`t like to share rooms, so will most likely be booking the hotel for 1 night only (Saturday). I`ll be missing out on the opening ceremony (which I will severely miss)

The biggest problem I can see with regards to the fancy dress, having been to the Serenity con, is whether or not you think it's worth being utterly outclassed by the insanely good costumes of the really serious folk. It's a mite off-putting.

I think you all have to accept that no matter how long spend on your costume, how many sequins you sew on, how many thousands of times you watch the DVDs to study reference points, there'll be somebody else who comes along, hollows out a dinosaur and totally outclasses you. It's the way of all things.

Bollywood, for those who don't know, is the name given to the film output of India (don't laugh, they actually make more films than any other country in the world). The films generally follow a simple of mix of a traditional plot combined with the cast bursting into song and dance for no explicable reason.

The trouble I have is that there's no real "Bollywood outfits" in much the same way as there is no "Hollywood outfits". A pity really because there were some really great ideas over on the Starfury boards for themes. Still, 400 guys in tuxedos... there's going to be chemistry in the air that night.

What would one have to do on an overnight shift? Does it involve staying up all night? If so then here is where being a university student might come in handy! I'm hardened to staying up all night, of course a degree might be useful too I guess! I always forget that's why I'm here. Damn!

I was considering being a steward when I was going to come on my own but amazingly my Mum was eager to join me and so I have decided I'll not bother. I'm still amazed she wants to go, I never thought she would. When I phoned her this evening she asked me if it was November yet. I'm inclined to agree with her although I'd settle for October!

Looking at my finances (I spent £270 on Wednesday! Whoops!) I have decided i can't afford to stay in the hotel. Fortunately my Grandpa lives in London and my Mum is willing to drive to the con everyday but I'm just hoping I don't regret not staying where the action is as it were.

But anyway, I for one will be delighted if this turns out to be 100% Firefly. But people are obviously going to be disappointed - especially if they've already bought their ticket on the basis that BSG cast members would be there.

I kind of assume that means stewarding the door at the party but that seems relatively new. There were stewards there all night at the last parties but at other cons I've been to they have usually given up by 11 or 12.

I think the Bollywood thing should be good. If anyone lives in an area where there are a lot of people from different backgrounds (especially South-East Asia) check out the charity shops. You can usually pick up a sari or shalwar kameez quite cheaply. Alternatively, try the markets, you can get new ones almost as cheaply.

There's about 99% chance that Claire will be MC at BDC Squared as she does every Starfury con. Not so sure about photo and autograph ops. as se was just MCing at Serenity. She's a friend of Sean's.

At the recent Serenity Con, something was actually said that she will not be doing talks, photos or autographs - to be honest I wasn`t too sure who she was until I checked the IMDB before going to the Con.

for those interested -

Awww, I love Clare. She was so sweet to me at the Fusion convention last year. She, Juliet and I had a conversation about cats.. LOL...

Has anyone gotten confirmation of their tickets yet?

Nope, just told they'd be sent out mid-June.

I hope Clare's there - an autograph/photo session would be a plus, but quite happy if she's just MCing.

"Why would I want to leave Serenity?"
"Can't think of a reason."

Over 100 Serenity screencaps now available at www.destinything.com (yep, bought me a proper name!)

Cool, thanks! Was wondering if they were due out yet or not

I guess she only autographs etc, at the buffyverse cons? I dunno.
