Overnight stewarding does mean stewarding at the parties. The reason that stewards are needed until the disco finishes is that the disco is taking place at a hotel, and hotel guests (or, for that matter, anyone walking into the hotel) might try and get into the parties. The stewards are there to make sure that only genuine con attendees can get into the discos.

Also, don't forget, the guests might be in the disco at some stage, so that's another reason for ensuring that only genuine attendees can go the parties.

Starfury parties are well known for finishing late at the Thistle (which is why they are so great). This is why stewards are needed after 12.00 am.
