"I'm bigger than you, and I have a gun."

Haven't laughed that hard at a TV show in quite a while. Great episode - to be expected when Jane Espenson is at the helm.

Saw something about Fox already airing episodes of The Inside out of order - anybody got the downlow on this?

Did I really just use "downlow"?

They have aired them out-of-order. Last night's was originally going to be the second episode. This is probably an example of F*X screwing with a good thing again.

Also, next week, TI is on an hour earlier and they are going to show two NEW episodes - no re-runs, these are both going to be new.

Also, last night in Oakland The Inside wasn't showing up on the cable schedule, even in the list of recordable programs. But it was on, I just had to set it up to record Baseball and Seinfeld, both of which claimed to be running during Inside's slot. Kinda confusing.

Great episode, though, and good to see someone else from Wonderfalls.

I missed most of the 6/29 episode. Wasn't that housekeeper from Wonderfalls I saw ? And what was that little gilrs name ? I could have sworn I heard 'nara...as in Inara...like I said, I only caught a few moments.

Closed captioning rendered it as Nora.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I missed the episode Wednesday & am still kicking myself today over it! I went to help a friend move & lost track of time. I completely forgot it was on.

*sighs*

Hopefully I can download it somewhere.

I've had mixed feelings about this show, but the 6/29 episode was one of the finest - and most disturbing - hours of a television cop drama that I have ever seen.

Well, it was only said once, but if you listen carefully, you can hear that Nora's mother is named "Zoe" - no kidding.

Also, speaking of pictures, in the episode last week (6/22), there was a picture of Mal and Inara on the movie marquee as the agents walked under it - in case anybody missed that one.

I think this was the strongest episode yet. And you could really hear the Espenson touch in lines like Webster's response to "You've gotta be kidding!" when he said: "Because I do that." Perfect delivery from Coyote and it shows how good a writer JE is for being able to find humor that works out of that character.

Exactly, plus the whole cake/pancake thing was very Espenson-ish also.

EDIT: More Espenson. Jane always used to have Andrew deliver the LotR references on Buffy. Apparently she's now going to have Mel do that. Did you catch that one? It was near the end of the show, when Bunch was trying to get his knives back from Web.

I thought it was a great ep! And I didn't think about it until just now, but there are signs of the eps being shown out of order. In 6/29's, Paul (I think...I mean Rebecca's partner dude) is showing of the sonogram of the baby he and his wife are having. But in the S&M ep, he got a text message saying that there were complications or something with the baby (which I interpreted as the wife being in labor and something going wrong). To me, that would make it seem like the pregnancy was further along in the earlier aired episode...or maybe I'm just mistaken ;)

No, that's a good observation. Plus, I though that Rebecca was just a little less comfortable with her colleagues, more like a newbie (for instance, the first scene, outside the office) than she was in the prior two eps - indicating that the other two eps were moved up in the schedule.

I don't know why they delayed this episode, because I thought it was the best yet. Maybe F*X was uncomfortable with the portrayal of a child murderer?

Just because I want to find it - I can't. But there is a post over at, I believe, The Inside board - by someone who knows, that the episode order (which is different than the filing order) was set by Tim Minear.

That's not to say that there wasn't a little :ahem: persuasion involved.

I'm going to keep looking

You weren't seeing things... Henry's mom was indeed played by Audrey Wasilewski, Yvette the housekeeper on Wonderfalls.
I have to say, having only caught two episodes, I love it.... and I'm amazed the gore that's allowed!

I missed the last few minutes of the ep due to a power outage : ( , but yeah great episode. Tim Minear is the one who changed the order, To better establish the dynamic between Web, Paul Ryan, and Rebecca. His Call. As much as I'm on board for crucifying FOX for past transgressions, this isn't one of them. I think 2 & 4 were switched, not sure. 2 hrs next week Yea!
And what's with the people talking about all the gore? Not just here, several boards. I'm not seeing it, Seen worse in lots of other shows. I think the "Viewer discretion" messages are making people see more than is there. which is kinda funny.

Visit WWW.Marillion.Com for a better way to live
Visit www.TheInside.org and see Tim Minear's show Weds. 9:00pm EST

Same here. Maybe it's just a matter of some people not watching other gory shows. No scale of comparison.

(Same kinda reaction I get when I talk about sci-fi to non SF fans.)

I agree - and it's the same with the rape scene. Lots of people talking about how "bad" it was. But we've seen more graphic rapes before. Lot's of filling in the blanks by people's imaginations.

and it wasn't even the first male rape we've seen on TV.

My thoughts exactly. I didn't much like the first three, though I thought it had immense potential, but I said from the beginning I'd watch until Jane's episode, and if that wasn't any good I'd stop. It was utterly fantastic, and so next week's 2 hours...I'll be watching.

I agree that it is the best episode thus far. The show is really growing on me, although I find Nichols' attempt to portray Rebecca as someone without much emotional affect because of her past pretty unconvincing.

Did anyone notice that the school was named "Raymond Espenson Elementary," keeping up the joke about nods and references in signs and marquees?

The child actress who played the bad seed murderer played exactly the same sort of junior sociopath on a Law and Order episode, so I wish they had cast someone else--it was like watching a rerun in some ways. But great performance by Zjelko Ivanek as Bunch, a kind of role he usually doesn't play.

Yeah that little girl freaked me out.
She was more than a bit disturbed.
I loved the little things that were in the eppy that plugged Serenity.
Ain't it funny that even though Adam is in a suit and has a fancy job that his mannerisms just scream Jayne?...I think it's hilarious.
Keep up the watchin' guys.
