By the way, he's filming Slither with everyone's favorite captain. Small world, ain't it?

Mitchum is his first name. He's totally working the Newspaper magnate role to the HILT. It's obvious where Logan gets his personality from, and I think they don't get along because they're so similar, although Logan would never admit it.

Thing is, I have no idea how many people here watch Gilmore, and I didn't want to hijack the thread...

No problem! I was content to know he was the Sheriff in "Train Job" then had to go look him up my own self once I realized he's one of the actors I like to see working. LONG list of those fellas.

Well I just went and picked up my Beetle from the garage, and while I was there I asked about having it resprayed. Turns out the garage in question can't do resprays, but - and I was given this guys number, they know a man who does and he lives locally. Which is great but the brilliant thing is his name:
Badger
So I kinda smiled to myself and then I says;
"So great I'll contact Badger, see if we can't make some kind of deal"

OW! it sodding ain't, you poofy wanking berk!!

(I love the way Spike got away with those kinda swear words on Buffy 'cos no one in the US knows what they mean - suffice it to say "wanker" relates to the sin of Onan and berk is cockney rhyming slang (Berkshire hunt ...)

You'd never get away with it in the UK ...

I can't believe I missed this thread but you are completely right.
I use words like 'shiny', ain't, and 'go-se' like there's no tomorrow, and my kid sister who lives 300 miles away would know the theme tune straight off, and then be able to tell you all the character's names and probably a lot about Joss Whedon too - and she's never seen an episode in her life (something which should be fixed sometime soon).
Oh well, what can you say, we're obsessed!

LWAVES

Reading this thread (particularly the Jayne's Liquor bit) just reminded me of a shop I had forgotten about.
In the next village over, near the train station, there used to be a wool shop called Jayne's Wool (apt name).
Wonder if she did hats???

I use the phrase 'I am an evil man' quite often, 'specially after playing a trick or prank on someone.
'Mighty' gets a good run as well. 'A special hell' as well.

Joss does seem to like to swear in ways that can get past the censors. Maybe a touch of his own stab at independance.

Firefly. The game you can play on your own - but it's better with browncoats.

Chrisisall = CIA.
Is there something we should know???

Now, this store chain has the word "independent" stamped across their bulletin boards, sign, labels, bags etc. Over the seafood counter was a chalkboard advertising the specials of the day. For some reason my eyes and mind caught on the words "INDEPENDENT LOBSTERS" and I started grinning like an idiot.

Y'know, uncooked lobsters do have kinda a brownish colour. . .

Reading threads like these are better than paying for therapy. I just feel all vindicated.

Work ocassionally has me driving through a small town named, - Canton.

Or into a county named, - Cobb

Seems at least once a week I'm hearing someone utter the phrase..." not so much ".

Oh, and just saw HGTTG ( I've yet to read the book ) - Heart of Gold. Hee hee. That was a fun surprise.

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "

*grinning like an idiot* I've noticed that in GA, we have a Cobb county, and a Canton... but nowhere near each other, *sigH*.

Well... We have the week where we can dress up, 'n' I dressed up as Wash, and I've GOT to show you the Sci-fi club picture from our school... *giggles maniacally*
We did costumes. There was a mix of Halo, Firefly, Star Wars, and random other MORDACIL costumage. And... in the goofy shot, Mal has a Plasma grenade on his head.

Relax...It was not Firefly's fault. She left of her own accord, and trust me...there's only so many times I can apologize...especially when I haven't done anything wrong. She wasted no time getting on with her life. And, I've moved on with mine too. The children are doing fine, for now, and God willing, they will continue to do so.

I have the DVDs, and another set besides.

I'm doing much better now. I'm not constantly tied in knots, and I'm with someone who is very kind...I mean in general, not just to me.

I've missed all my old buds here, I hardly know anyone anymore. Which is great for Firefly, don't get me wrong. The more the merrier in that respect. I just miss the people who get my jokes and actually respond to my posts!

And, not to offend people who live there or anything...but it really stinks.

As for who I'm with, I should probably wait until she admits to it. Though just lately she's gotten a little angry about some things some people have been saying on this site and decided to take a break for a while.

I miss her a lot, though. Would've been great if I could have fit her in a duffle bag and brought her along.

HOUDINI

My wife and I just finished watching Stranger Then Fiction last night, which we did not enjoy at all. Anyways, my son today asked if it had any funny parts, and I said just one.

He asked what scene was funny, and I replied the one in the hospital (anyone who watched Stranger Then Fiction knows which scene that is).

He asked why being in a hospital was funny... and I replied without pausing "Because sick people are hi-larious".

RIVERRUNSTHROUGHIT

Yesterday at work one of my coworkers said she'd help me push the dumpster back to where it's suppose to be (the truck or something left it in an inconvient spot) and I said "Shiny! Thing weighs a solid ton!"

It took me a second to realize that she wasn't pushing and was staring at me like I'd grown another head. I asked, "What?" She said, "What did you just say?" I had to think back for a second before it hit me. I said, "Oh! It's a Firefly thing." She nodded knowingly and said, "Right. You're little sci-fi thing." I got defensive with, "It's not a 'little sci-fi thing!' It's an AWESOME sci-fi thing!" She just rolled her eyes and sighed, "Whatever." and helped me push.

So I suppose you could say I had a 'Jayne' moment as well.

Obviously I'm gonna hafta ed-u-ma-cate her on it. I'll tie her to a chair if I have to!
She WILL love Firefly as much as I do!
Mwahahahahaha*coughcough*hahaha!

A worthy endeavor. I give you my full and unmitagated support (From across an Internet connection)

(Quick, what movie?)

Good to hear things are going well (well, I mean as good as they can be, what with Iraq and all...).
Stay safe now, y'hear?
