I don't know how friendly we want to get , but we could even go four to a room (with two people per bed) and really make the cost go down.

I was thinking that if we went this route, I would just bring a sleeping bag (since I'm driving) and sleep on the floor. Doesn't bother me.

I say the more people in the room the better. Well, too a certain extent anyway. I was thinking maybe 4-6 people in each.

Everyone be sure to check out the new NCBDPP group for the latest info.

For whats it worth we have a Ford escape hybrid SUV- can fit five average people comfortably - not including luggage space

TORQUEMADA

Greetings all,

I'm new to this board (been on the 'versal board for a little while) but just wanted to add my name to the list of folks that'll be there for the premiere party. I live in Raleigh, only a couple of miles from Mission Valley actually, and would be glad to help pick folks up from the airport. I don't have the biggest car in the world (Jetta) but it'll seat 5 and has tons of trunk space. I've been in Raleigh for about 10 years (went to school twice at NC State) so I know the area pretty well. I'll be glad to help out with any questions the non-locals have, although from the looks of the thread it seems most of the details have been worked out. Anyway, hit me up with any questions here or at my e-mail address wwross9 {at} hotmail {dot} com and I'll be glad to help any way I can. Looking forward to 30-Sept!

Where'd you find your kaylee-alls? I'm looking at possibly getting a pair for the NCBDMPP. I already have sandals and an umbrella (but not the cute swirly one. Mine just has flowers on it) and was thinking of throwing a Kaylee costume together.
Also, just wanted to bump this back up to the top and knock a few of our sillier threads down a notch.

So, is the premiere party still going to happen on Sept 30th? Are the rumors about the change of release date false?

There is no official word about the release date being changed, so we're working with Sep 30th still.

I am still assuming that the party is on for the 30th. I called Days Inn and they said that they could maybe do a deal with us. I have to call back on Monday.

I am looking around for the best places to eat. Some people are veggie eaters so I have been keeping that in mind. Plus I am also looking for the best place to go drink. I like Ri-Ra but there are several other places to go. This is a college town you know!

Ri-Ra is great, I ask some locals I know if there is anything else appropriate around there. Wish the date issue was clearer, all the published promo material I've seen still say sept. 30. *shrug* sure it'll be clear soon. *waits*

I called 7 different hotels today and we now have a hotel! My first choice was comepletly booked so we are going with...Best Western.

Best Western
Raleigh North
2715 Capital Boulevard, Raleigh, North Carolina, 27604-1509

$59 plus tax (1-4 people per room)

It is located about five miles from the movie theater and is in a good location. Only one other hotel was cheaper (by 50 cents) but it was in a bad, bad, bad area of town.

I put a hold on 13 rooms but more can be added later with little or no fuss. It can also be cancelled without penelty up to 1 month in advance. Yea for my credit card.

So, please, wait before calling Best Western because the rest of the booking information will be posted in about a week.

Btw, I/we am/are willing to share a room. Pay or not, I don't care. I'm certainly willing to help a fellow Browncoat down on his/her financial fortunes. Been there myself, there's no shame.

Movie tix: that has me concerned. I would most definately want to get into the same screening as fellow visitors. Any guarantees there? Static? If we're on our own on that score, best I be calling ahead a bit, no?

Which airport would be best to fly into? I know that Southwest Airlines flies into RDU (Raleigh/Durham International Airport). If I fly down, that would be the airport I'll go to. However, I might drive down instead, so that I can have transportation.

Nothing new on the premiere date, so I think it's reasonably safe to assume it's still going down the 30th.

We're thinking an early evening show, 7 at the latest. A large contingent of us will be driving the trek from Raliegh to the Charlotte area to stay the night Friday night as the Carolina Renaissance Festival opens that weekend, Static and I are part of the cast (he the Duke of York, I being Lord Captain of the Royal Guard).

So, are we still on with this BW Raleigh N0rth hotel?
I have suddenly found out I will be able to go there!!
Has anyone called and made their reservations yet? Do we need to say we are with the Browncoat contingency?
Also, is this premiere simply a gathering at the theater before the 7 pm show, or have I missed something?
Sorry to have so many questions, even after I read the thread.

Yeah, I've already made my reservations with the hotel. I don't know how many other people have, I know at least 2 other people have.

If you do call to make a reservation, you need to let them know that you are with the Firefly North Carolina group. Ash (who has posted on this thread before, can't remember her handle though), is the one who organized it.

You can find all the details on the Yahoo Groups "fireflync" mail list.

Just curious... is anyone from Maryland driving down for the NC BDMPP? I will be finishing up some training on that Friday and the thought occurred to drive on down. Would be willing to drive down or pitch in for gas if someone else is driving. Can someone give an estimate of travel time from MD to NC (so I know what time to skate out of class)?

I'm just d*mn happy someone else is paying for me to be in the U.S. when the movie comes out :biggrin

Also if anyone has ANY ideas on what to do while in town for the movie please make suggestions! Us local Browncoats need to get together and plan some simple activities.

It looks like several people are renting cars and there are many locals who can drive people around too. Transportation will not be a problem.

Also several others will be going a local Renaissance Fair on Saturday.

Please share ideas!

Yes the weather is very nice in September! There are several museums and a nice Imax theater relatively close to the hotel. I will get info for them and post it later tonight.

Thank you for the great idea!

And for the person e-mailing me with interesting things that we could do as a group let me restate my request.....

I am interested in hearing ideas on *LEGAL* activities that we can do as a group. I mean some of these people are married and may have issues with...well best not said.
